2024 Edge rattle noise from rear cargo trim panel
gonesail replied to lasseventies's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
just an FYI. i had a rattle in what i thought was the cargo area. drove me crazy. finally found out that the bottom of the tag was not screwed tight and was vibrating on the hatch. the bottom 2 screws were missing. i see this is a duplicate post.- 18 replies

i have a similar rattle sound on my 2016 that i hear when driving .. starts at speeds over 55 or 60 .. not loud but can be irritating. it sounds like something may have fallen where it should not have? coming from what seems to be the area near or behind the monitor screen. i have banged and pushed to no avail. i have not checked the AC to see if it is coming from there.

Backup Camera Picture Upside Down
gonesail replied to sblasl's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
if image is upside down you probably need a new camera. i bought one from Amazon .. for my 2012 edge. it is so clear and better than the original. pain in the butt install. make sure all contacts are clean and sealed. still working after 1.5 years. i agree the camera should have been simple plug and play install .. but it is not. -
no ideas on how to do this. but i thought about running a connection from the battery for a small solar charger .. thinking that the cigarette plug is not always active.
-
so i have ordered a battery tester. that will tell me a lot more than voltage. thanks for the recommendation.
-
it's a new battery that is the recommended size for an Edge. i tried doing a BMS reset but not sure if it worked. i think i agree with those saying there are persistent drains with these vehicles .. therefore resting voltage is unfortunately deceiving.
-
pretty sure you should replace the plugs after 100K miles.
-
.. resting voltage is definitely an indicator of battery health. and leaving a battery in a persistent uncharged state will lead to diminished battery performance.
-
this morning i found it at 12.46 volts. that's only 80% charged with new battery. i did a few short trips yesterday.
-
i just replaced the camera on my 2011. difficult to do yourself but i did it. the new camera is SO much better than the original and i got it from amazon for 60 bucks. this should be easy.
-
i own a 2011 edge and the resting battery voltage is always at or over 12.6 volts which is 100% charge level. my 2016 edge is always above 12.5 but never 12.6 volts as it should be. this is a new battery. trying not to obsess on this but .. does anyone else check voltages on their car battery?

start car after lost FOB

OK thanks. sounds like a good solution. -
start car after lost FOB
gonesail replied to gonesail's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
the fobs seem like a sham to me. i like having an emergency key onboard my 2011 in case i lose the other one. now it is more complicated. i am thinking an emergency fob with a power switch .. so you could hide it in the vehicle. -
start car after lost FOB
gonesail replied to gonesail's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
i was meaning to say start and drive the car with no key FOB .. only the emergency key. -
is this possible? i own a 2016 edge and assumed that i could start it with the emergency key. now i am thinking not possible.
-
i did the plugs on mine and jostled one of the electrical connectors .. i think a fuel injector. it idled rough but there was a code. i was able to reach in and press the connector back in place. but without the code you are just guessing.
-
i am wondering whether this is possible or advisable? i read here that someone disconnected the power liftgate connections. the manual struts are fairly cheap on amazon.
-
i was wondering what would happen if the liftgate collides with something .. like a concrete block wall? i kinda wish it was still manual like my 2011 edge. did you guys ever get this resolved?? is there a way to make it manual again??

hey thanks for the idea. i've been slamming my hood down for years now. my latch was also set to lowest point. the 2 screws were easy to reach. after moving the latch up about 1/4" .. now all i need is a gentle touch.

i tried again. unlocked the car with the fob. pressed it twice to unlock all doors and went inside. then walked out later with no fob .. still unlocked. then walked out with fob in top pocket. it did not lock this time. maybe operator is at fault here? interesting info on the mislock feature. will report anything else. appreciate feedback.
