2020 Edge Titanium Battery Recommendation...
edgeidiot replied to DNBush's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
Does the Edge have an undersized alternator? I do drive many short distances, but it only takes a couple of trips for the start-stop (yes, I know everyone hates that) to stop working and in about ten days, I get the battery saver message and all but the driver's door cannot be locked/unlocked from the outside. I have had the battery checked and replaced, but the problem did not go away. I bought an AC battery charger (Battery Tender) that plugs into my cigarette plug. I keep it on the charger when I am at home. It is a pain since I have to roll down a window to plug it in, but I do not want to get stuck somewhere. I have the first electric Edge! -
There are many grills available online. Search "Ford Edge Grill Black." I have attached a picture of one that is available.

Edge sways all over the road above 70 mph.

I also was a tire salesperson in Southern California in the early 80's (those days are long gone - sigh.) There was this one customer complaining about tramlining (that term had not been invented then.) The tires were Goodyear Custom Polysteels. There were seven circular and uniform grooves on the tires. We thought that the grooves were interlining with the grooves on the freeway. We changed them out with the Arrivas and the squirming went away. I would have thought that since that time, the manufacturers would have been able to resolve the issue. In doing research, I found that it may be also caused by low profile tires, larger than OEM tires or wheels, or tires with reinforced sidewalls (which are very rare - most tires have a single-ply casing with two steel belts overlaid on the carcass.) I found some tires which do not have circular and uniform groves: Nexen N Blue 4Season2, Kumho Solus 4S, Nitto Motivo 365, Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive, Michelin Crossclimate2 and Toyo Proxes STIII. I suppose the best way to diagnose if your problem is being caused by your tires/wheels is to find a buddy with a same generation Edge with the OEM wheels and tire size, mount them on your Edge and see if the tramlining goes away. -
You need a T155/70R18 sized tire, a wheel (KT4Z1015A) which is sized 18" x 4", 5 Lug, 4.25" Bolt Pattern, and the jack with components. From the attached diagram, you only need the jack, mounting stud, wing nut and wrench so that it is secured in the well. The mini spare became an option around the 2021 model year. For some reason, Ford included the mini spare with some new Edges, but charged $100 (see the attached window sticker.) It was not included at all on others. I would search your local salvage yards for these items. Be careful that you find the 18-inch tire and wheel, not the 17-inch combination. Since the model refresh in 2015, these items have remained the same, so there should be plenty of availability. windowsticker.pdf

Transmission fluid drops on the floor
edgeidiot replied to Brockdog12's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
I am old fashioned. I know manufacturing techniques are better today, but when I bought my Edge straight from the dealer, I had the engine oil changed at 1,000 miles and the transmission fluid completely flushed at 15,000 miles (my Edge is not AWD so no differential or I would have also changed it early.) -
There are thousands of listings for S154D Rear-End Differentials on ebay. Most are remanufactured in China.

AM Radio Reception 2015 Edge
edgeidiot replied to Dmtaurus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You are kidding - The Peanut Butter Conspiracy? According to Wikipedia, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy was an American, Los Angeles-based, psychedelic pop/rock group from the 1960s. The band is known for lead singer Barbara Robison and for briefly having Spencer Dryden of Jefferson Airplane as a band member. The album's producer brought in studio musicians including Glen Campbell (yes that Glen Campbell) to bolster the group's sound. -
AM Radio Reception 2015 Edge
edgeidiot replied to Dmtaurus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Were you listing to Boss Radio (Rock and Roll) in the 60's? Here in Los Angeles, the only music on AM radio today is from stations broadcasting in foreign languages. Some manufacturers (especially in electric vehicles) no longer include AM radio. Here is an explanation why AM radio does not sound as good in your Edge versus your Mustang: Proliferation of LED lights, switching power supplies, electric vehicles, broadband over power lines, and compact electronics has raised the AM noise floor substantially in many urban and suburban areas, reducing usable coverage and intelligibility. -
I know this will seem snarky and I apologize. Is the difference in weight between a steel and aluminum spare tire wheel at the most be 15 pounds? You probably know that Ford made spare tires optional with a charge of $100. I think it became optional on the Edge in 2021. It now comes with a compressor and sealant kit which I am sure weighs even less.

I know I am late to this party, but have you tried to use one of the apps like iheartradio on your phone and connect by Bluetooth using SYNC? Most AM and FM radio stations are streamed live. -
If you (or anyone else) is still looking for a 2024 Ford Edge ST, according to a search on cars.com, there are no remaining new vehicles available. I found six 2024 ST-Line, one 2024 Titanium and multiple SEL and SE's.

As an old tire salesman, I beg of you to measure the remaining tread depth on the other three tires. The picture above shows that there is an alignment issue AND the tire is down to the wear bars. You are gambling the life of not only yourself, but your wife and others on the road with tires like this. A tire in this condition would not pass a state inspection. Even the cheapest Chinese tire would be better than continuing to drive if your other tires are also worn out.

2020 Edge Titanium Battery Recommendation...
edgeidiot replied to DNBush's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
Not sure about what you are referring to about the Costco warranty. Costco warranty is 36-month prorated. Walmart is a three-year free replacement. -
I have been experiencing this since purchasing my 2020 Edge which was brand new. I have had my batteries and charging system checked and both passed. The other thing that you should be experiencing is the stop start function will not operate. I am not sure what the sweet spot is, but my problem is that I do not drive enough. I have had to buy a Battery Tender to recharge the battery when the door situation occurs. I know that there are two different alternators available for the Edge. There is a 175 amp and 200 amp alternator available. I am not sure if the 200 amp alternator were installed (and I am sure that I have the 175 amp), if it would make any difference.

Will 265/50R19 Tires Fit My 2017 Ford Edge Titanium?
edgeidiot replied to Jeremiah1's topic in Wheels & Tires

I would think that since you need both the tires and wheels, you should go back to the OEM tire size and wheel, P245/60R18. You should easily be able to find the 18-inch wheels at your local salvage yard. If you want to go with a 17-inch tire and wheel set up, the tire size that has the closest tire height (to reduce speedometer error) while increasing the sidewall size from 5.8 to 6.3 inches is P245/65R17. For your leaking tires, try replacing the valve stems. Some stems are known to leak. Doc1.pdf

Greatest.thing since sliced bread. Just buy it.

I would suggest tires classed as touring or luxury. These tires provide a luxurious ride and since the speed rating is lower than sport tires, the tires will last a lot longer.
-
Do you have an extended warranty? Having worked in an auto repair facility, I have seen too many cases where we would refuse to change the ATF (we did not have the flush machine) because of the interval between changes. I am old school. I changed the engine oil at 1K and transmission fluid at 15K. I would have changed the rear differential at 5K, but my Edge is FWD, and I bought the extended warranty.

AWD Malfunction Warning After Low Tire
edgeidiot replied to w102acd's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Concerning the original TPMS warning, did you determine why one tire suddenly lost ten psi? I am trying to understand what could cause this. As little as a tiny leak in the tire or the wheel should have caused the tire to completely deflate in a week. If the valve stem was leaking, the TPMS occasionally should have measured that the pressure was low. Was it parked in an airport parking lot where someone depressed the value stem? What was the pressure for the other three? -

I noticed that you have Kelly Edge tires. Was it a coincidence?
-
There is a difference in the circumference (height) of these sizes. Aspect ratio is the percentage of the sidewall versus the tire width. Rim diameter only means that a tire will fit the rim. In the specific case above, the 275's are 8 mm taller, 10 mm wider and will revolve 7 times less per mile which will cause a slight speedometer error.

I found the replacement part numbers: Left KT4Z-16103-A Right KT4Z-16102-A Around $70 each side at your favorite online Ford parts dealer.
