2017 Ford Edge Sport - Ruby Red Metallic
niceonept replied to bscott94's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
I've not seen anything like that before. Do they put those huge bows on every car they sell? -
Remote Windows

Excellent! Thanks Gadgetjq. It worked perfectly on my 2018 UK spec Edge, and on all four windows too. -

It's stopped raining at last, meaning I've finally been able to get outside to wash the new Edge and take some pics. (edit: some newer pics showing wind deflectors and UK instrument panel now added) -

2018 Fog Light
niceonept replied to Colby's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Why do Ford do that I wonder? You'd think it would be really simple to put one of these: into this almost identical looking space here wouldn't you? -

They are fitted as standard on all European models, so can often be found second-hand on fleabay (e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265114496620?fits=Car+Make%3AFord|Model%3AEdge&epid=703807846&hash=item3dba0e2e6c:g:jvUAAOSwV8Fgasr5). Not sure whether you'd need to pay import duty or something though if buying from the US. New pattern lamps are also available but couldn't vouch for how good they'd be. -
Hi there. Hope you enjoy the Forum.

Thanks guys. So there's no tacho fitted to many of the American Edges? Still looks like a nice looking instrument cluster though.
-
How do they differ...what do the US Edge instruments look like?
-
Yes, the manual Edges are really quite rare, even here where manual cars predominate. Am I right in understanding the instrument cluster on our Edges is only available on the Lincoln version you have over there?
-
There weren't really any power options though. If you wanted automatic transmission the 210 HP engine was the only option. Likewise 180 HP was the only option for manual transmission.
-
Other than "sports" suspension, mainly cosmetic e.g. 20 inch alloy wheels as standard, black front grill, Sony sound system etc.
-
Also less of an issue with Fords. The area around an oval Ford badge is much easier to keep clean than around that Audi badge!
-
Yes, exactly the same twin-turbo 2.0 litre diesel AWD, 210HP for all European automatic transmission models regardless of the specification. The Zetec, Titanium, Sport/ST-Line and Vignale all have the same engine. The much rarer manual transmission was paired with a 180HP version of the 2.0 litre diesel. No 2WD versions were available, which I think isn't the case in America?

Deactivate fake engine noise?
niceonept replied to Vanquished's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Are you sure it is not the "white noise" that is emitted by Ford's Active Noise Control system? https://www.ford.co.uk/shop/research/technology/comfort-and-convenience/active-noise-control https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/news/2015/11/11/how-new-ford-technology-can-make-your-car-work-like---a-giant-pa.html#:~:text=Ford's Active Noise Control uses, levels of music and conversation.- 6 replies

Ford partially de-badged my car in the factory! The ST-Line here in UK has no badge, whereas the model it replaced had "Sport" prominently on the tailgate.
-
Anything that alters the car from stock and can't be put back very quickly and easily is likely to lower the resale/trade-in value a bit... well here in UK it would.
-
Ah, OK, thanks. Yes, it works fine with memory sticks. It's Sync3's incompatibility with iPods that's the issue, especially as Ford's earlier versions of Sync all worked fine.
-
Thanks. What iPods do you use? I have a 7th gen Classic 160gb, a 6th gen Classic 120gb, a 2nd gen Touch and a 3rd gen Nano. The Classics don't really work at all and the Nano no more than about 15 minutes without crashing. The Touch is OK..ish but even that fails regularly.

There's not a lot I don't love about my Edge - other than Sync 3. It is unresponsive (it takes an age every day to load up GPS/Sat Nav) and is useless with any of my iPods, despite Ford's claims of compatibility. It is constantly freezing up, is very unresponsive, skips tracks, fails to display artwork and is forever "indexing" tacks. The old Sync 1 I had in my Mondeo worked absolutely perfectly with all four of my iPods.

Hiya Chris, welcome to our forum. Have you got any pics of your Edge to share with us?
