  1. FINAL INPUT.

The world is back to normal. The battery change that caused the gas gauge or MTE count has returned to normal after a complete empty and fill up.

The second issue that we had after the battery change was the radio muting itself but that was simply a key change. Out of the two keys one of them causes the radio to mute when seatbelts aren't used immediately and even though we do use seatbelts religiously my wife will take a few extra seconds to buckle up and this was only observed when she changed the key that she uses daily.

All is well and thanks to everyone that helped.

    Regards,

    Doug.

      FUN FACT:

My wife has said that the MTE number is high by about 40 miles. I told her that the computer will work that out especially when I start to drive it. LOL She took my key away.

    Gas Guage

WelI, I figured it out after you mentioned a second key. When the battery went bad my wife decided to try the spare key, "Don't say it, I know" . Anyway, now that I have gone back to the original key it appears that it is different from the one that she tried out for a few days. The original works perfectly, and the radio doesn't mute any more. God knows how the two keys are different however the car got stolen a couple of years ago and when we got it back I had all the locks, keys and fobs changed so perhaps the dealer did this and maybe it's a normal practice. Once again thanks for the help. Regards, Doug.

    Gas Guage

Thank you dabangsta I was thinking that exact same thing and my only concern is why I didn't see it before now. The car is almost 9 years old and has under 40k miles so as you might imagine it sits a lot but still weird how I have never seen this before the battery change. Once again, thank you. Doug.

    Gas Guage

Ok, the DTE still hasn't reset but I think that it's too early and my wife hasn't filled up yet being that she rarely moves the car. Anyhow I have noticed another thing that I have never experienced before and that is that when a passenger gets in the car and doesn't click the seatbelt on fairly quickly the radio gets muted. Reading threads from Google it says that it cannot be disabled but I have never heard this before and when I'm driving and she's a passenger her seatbelt always takes a minute and a reminder from me when the chime starts. Any ideas on this one and I hope that its ok to have not started a new thread but it all seems like a new battery issue. Thank you all.

Thanks Omar302, I thought that was the problem and that it would sort itself out. Once again though, thank you both for all the help. Doug.

Garycrist, thanks for the information. I'll run the codes but its weird how this only happened after changing the battery.

    Gas Guage

Hi all, I hope that this is the correct place to ask about an issue that my wife is having in her 2015 Ford Edge Sport. I just changed the battery and since doing that the gas gauge is showing that she needs gas when she was pretty sure that she was about 1/4 full. Anyway, I had her put gas in before getting on the freeway and she only filled up half the tank. She now says that the miles left to go on the half tank of gas is about the same that it reads on a full tank. I'm guessing that this will fix itself with driving, but she won't let it go until I have an answer. Any suggestions would be great, and I thank anyone that helps. Regards, Doug.
  10. @Tourguide you are so right and I found an after market USB hub with the carplay chip in it for $60 that would work great but without Factory nav. However If I try to sell that to my wife I feel that my 34 marraige would end tomorrow. LOL. Nice to know for future reference. I should let her drive my Tundra which is fully loaded with carplay and Factory Nav and see if she'll go for it after using it for a while. Or I'll just wait until next September/October when the 2025 models start to drop and I know that she will want something then. Thanks again though. Doug.
  11. Thanks for all the info but even though the car is a 2015 it has no miles and being that i know my wife she is also planning for a new model next year so spending to upgrade a perfect Sync 2 with OEM navigation is crazy so I'll just wait until she wants the new car which is bound to have Carplay. What I was hoping was that a simple dongle like thie one below would work to plug in and add Carplay simply and cheaply. Amazon.com: Wired Carplay Dongle with USB Port for Android Dongle for Android Cars, Supports Voice Control, GPS, Online Music, Etc. : Electronics
  12. Thanks for the info dabangsta. Do I have any options to get Carplay to work and keep the wife happy?
  13. I am still needing an adapter to get Carplay to work even after a succesful update to Sync 3.1. I was about to buy the needed adapter when I noticed that you can get it with a single USB hub or double. However my wifes car has factory navigation with a single USB slot and a card slot for the navigation files. Can anyone help me with the correct needed part so that I can get Carplay to work but still have the factory Nav. Thanks again, Doug.
  14. Omar, thanks for the information. I actually contacted Ford and they said the exact same thing and that it will be automatically updated after a few weeks.
