It sounds like your vent system is plugged and the nozzle is detecting back pressure. That can be caused by many things ranging from a kinked hose to a fuel flooded charcoal canister (caused by over filling) or just an overly sensitive nozzle. Just for grins n giggles, next time you fuel up, use a different pump than you normally do or a different gas station entirely. Try inserting the fuel nozzle only partway into the filler neck and reduce the flow by one click. If you get a complete fill then you've probably got an issue with vent lines. If the nozzle still stops then there's a problem with the filler neck/tube. Since you're under warranty have it checked out by your dealer. Cheers!

Apple CarPlay for 2016 Edge?
Gadgetjq replied to jmvdude's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You'll find YouTube videos showing how to pull the center console apart to access the USB ports. The USB kit is available from your Ford dealer. Maybe this Ford article will help: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/05/19/ford-sync-3-software-update-apple-android-2016-vehicles.html -
Apple CarPlay for 2016 Edge?
Gadgetjq replied to jmvdude's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm sure that'll be welcome news to the OP if it works....but...every post I've seen in this and other Edge forums has indicated a USB change is necessary for IOS and CarPlay to work with Sync3 in the '16 Edge. Only for Android Auto users has the system been ready to go as soon as Sync is updated to V3. Keep us updated JMVDude! -
Apple CarPlay for 2016 Edge?
Gadgetjq replied to jmvdude's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Welcome to Edge ownership! First, make sure you're on Sync version 3 with your head unit. If your unit has never been updated you can go to ford.com, register then navigate to the Sync3 area and download the update. Follow the instructions for unzipping files to a USB drive for the update. Forget trying to update via Wifi. Once you're sure you're running the correct software in the Edge you'll have to update your USB hubs in the center console. There's a YouTube video explaining that here: -
Search this forum for "roof lubrication" and you'll see many posts on the subject. Here's a link to MacT's Vista Roof Maintenance video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ6KiV6TqIk and here's a link to his webpage: https://www.mactgarage.com/ If you're on Facebook take a look at this very active Edge group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MACTFORDEDGE/

Just a guess someone, somewhere has. Check your owner's manual and/or Ford's online tow guide. You'll find your Edge is rated to pull 'up to' 35 hundred pounds 'with' the factory tow package (hitch, larger radiator, higher capacity alternator, anti-sway tech). The rating is 'up to' 2000 pounds with an aftermarket hitch but without the factory package.

Are you using the Edge lighting (brakes/running) while towing? Are any other systems in use (power ports etc) or is the key left on to prevent the steering from locking? Are you starting the Edge every 6 hours as recommended? It just sounds like there 'must' be something in the Edge that's powered up while it's being pulled. Cheers!

Hi Bill, You're safe leaving your USB drive plugged in. Some Edge models have a power port delay that can be adjusted by the user so, depending on your model and settings (a previous owner 'could' have set the power ports to be on at all times but not likely) the device might stay on for a short time but the current draw is minuscule. To prove this, plug anything with a power indicator light into the port. Turn the Edge off and watch the light. It'll either turn off immediately or soon after shutdown. Cheers!

Before You Shop Elsewhere......
Gadgetjq replied to Gadgetjq's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
Actually the Prestone product is available right now (Walmart) for under $11 per gallon for the concentrate. It's a great deal for anyone pinching pennies. Here's the rub. As you tour through all of these Edge forums there's a LOT of information about coolant, much of it contradictory. So then you visit coolant centric sites which become even more confusing. Ford hasn't helped with all of it's changes from green to yellow to orange and, in some cases, back to green again. In the end I felt a lot more comfortable using the 'real' Motorcraft stuff. To me it's worth another $13 and change (difference between MC and Prestone for two gallons of concentrate) to be absolutely certain. -
Forscan 100% compatible adapter
Gadgetjq replied to boostededge's topic in Accessories & Modifications
This one absolutely works and provides information for every module on your Edge. I've been using it on my '16 with no issues. https://amzn.to/2JUNnEIhttps://amzn.to/2JUNnEI -
Actually, that's debatable. You 'might' have the capability to draw more air into the engine with the aftermarket system but if that's just a lot of hot air and nothing has been done to get more air 'out' of the engine then all the K&N is doing is making noise. As for your fuel mileage, what are you getting? At first I'd suggest using the old paper/pen method (miles/gallons) to check your 'actual' mpg against whatever the digital gauge is showing. That way you'll know how far off the digital unit is (if any) tank to tank. While you're calibrating to your new car, use a gps (or app on your phone) to track your MPH figure and compare it against the car's speedo. You'll probably discover the Edge is reporting a number a little higher than what the GPS shows you. Cheers!

Forscan to enable tow lights
Gadgetjq replied to mr_jason's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Great find, thanks for posting! Could you be a little more specific about where the connector is (just so I'm not ripping up an unnecessary amount of carpet). I'm still hunting/gathering parts but the wiring is something that can be done well ahead of the hitch install. Thanks! -
eBay. Search for "ford edge black center caps"

The aftermarket tire on my '16 (20" wheels) is the Yokohama Geolander G055 ($180 ea at TireRack). The Edge rides better on this tire than the Toyota Avalon (running Hankook tires) it replaced. The Yokohama's are quiet on 'most' road surfaces. Downside, the reviews aren't great for use in winter/snow conditions. Cheers!

Standard practice is to rotate tires every 5000 miles. If that syncs with your oil changes then great! Some people go longer with the oil change (highway driving, synthetic oil). If you're one of them then you should plan on rotating tires more frequently than you change oil. Cheers!

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Gadgetjq replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Excellent question sir! On another Edge forum, someone posted a complaint about the OEM tie downs. In his case they are apparently loose and get in the way of closing the cargo area lid. Someone responded to the post claiming he'd repeatedly slammed his liftgate because it wouldn't latch. While I can't figure out how, he claimed the tie downs were interfering with the closing. I know, weird. A few more forum members chimed in saying the part was an issue for them too. Maybe this is a solution in search of a problem but it's a concern for some and this was my fix. BTW, if the tie downs are loose for anyone else's Edge the simple solution is to remove the bracket, flip it upside down and stake the area that holds the bail. There's already a punch mark there which makes it even easier. Cheers! -

I've changed out the cargo area hold downs that some Edge owners have complained about. Went from this: To this Using this Works like this Cheers! -
Good news, I don't think it's a common problem. I scan multiple Edge related forums and Facebook groups and have never seen this mentioned before. The bad news is, of course, you're dealing with it. You don't show where you live in the profile. Is there any chance your Edge was driven through or was in a flooded area at some point? If it was driven through high water that could explain the problem.

It's the last drain! About two months into ownership of this '16 Edge I've done the 'highly recommended' transmission and radiator drain/refills. After awhile you get pretty good at it! -
Sync tries to call #0 when starting the car
Gadgetjq replied to 1004ron's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Did you try the Android Central link that was posted earlier in this thread? Someone appears to have found the solution. With the car running and your phone connected, turn bluetooth off on your phone (disconnecting from sync) then turn bluetooth on again so it connects with Sync. End of problem at least for the person who posted the fix and at least one person in this thread. Cheers! -
I'm REALLY enjoying this car/truck/cuv/suv.....whatever. This is my first ever Ford, coming from a late model Toyota Avalon Limited. My '16 lease return Titanium with 20" wheels rides better than the Toyota, the seating is far more comfortable and, of course, there's all the extra cargo space ?. I'm especially enjoying the flexibility that FORScan gives owners to make this machine their own. Don't like extra horn honks, turn em off. Want to move the DRL to another bulb; immobilize your car if the engine is running and the fob isn't in the cabin? Just do that and so much more. Sync3 is far superior to the Toyota entertainment/navigation system when it comes to ease of use. Is there room for improvement? Of course, deal with it! Lube the BAMR, change the fluids, install a decent HID headlight bulb, read your owner's manuals and spend some time on MacT's website where you'll find literally everything you'd need to maintain this vehicle. Map updates are an issue for sure but they're not limited to Ford. At least we get occasional Sync upgrades that don't require an expensive visit to a dealer. Bottom line, yes I'm enjoying my Edge very much.
