  2. I keep hoping this subject has run its course and then....whammo, another post (this one citing information posted October 2018). Those articles and TV consumer news pieces routinely fail to mention upgrades to the engine, particularly the dual sealing of the water pump from 2011 on) and change in coolant recommendations (gold is out, orange is in) and other mods designed to increase engine life and, thanks to a tiny weep hole, give owners warning if there 'is' a seal breach. The newsies also neglect to mention the maintenance done on a failed engine and often don't even note the year. Remember this same basic engine that's in our Edge is a fire breathing 385hp twin turbo monster in the Flex (and possibly F150). Wouldn't it be fun to transplant one of those into the Edge? ? Bottom line, just keep your Edge (or F150 or Flex or Taurus or Fusion or Explorer or Lincoln MKZ and Sable or Mazda CX9 all of which use the 3.5L engine) properly maintained, take the extra step of changing coolant every 30k miles if you want and enjoy the car!
  3. My 3 month free trial of Sirius audio has run out. I won't be signing up so cut some clutter on the main audio screen by removing it using FORScan
  4. My 3 month free trial of Sirius audio has run out. I won't be signing up so cut some clutter on the main audio screen by removing it using FORScan: APIM 7D0-01-01 *xxx xxxx xxxx Decrement existing value where the asterisk is by 2; if you have an "A" make it "8", if you have "2" make it "0" Curiously, while this removes the service from the main screen, Sirius is still showing on the small right side audio screen.
  5. Nah, that's what the remote open for the hatch is for. Press the button, hatch opens to signal 'over here' Alternative, use Google Maps (or another app) to automatically save your parked location.
  6. That should get it done. Be sure you've read and understand how FORScan works before making changes and keep track of the OEM settings in case you have to or want to go back at some point. There's a very complete tutorial on the FORScan site but I found this one on a Fusion forum a little easier to read and understand.
  7. That's an old school system that's been used in various forms by many automakers. BMW has even installed a simple port through the firewall in some models that has a flap to control the amount of 'engine noise' that can enter the cabin. The system under discussion here (for the Edge) is totally electronic with artificial engine sounds (maybe a small audio file) piped through the speakers. The OP wants to completely disable the 'feature.'
  8. Think you're right, either 9 or A (ANC Present). Maybe make a choice based on what's already in that x slot. Be sure and note the original setting just in case you don't get the result you expect.
  9. Great! I hope you searched this group to find the correct reader. The cheap ones are very limited when it comes to FORScan. To see 'all' of your Edge's modules (computers) you'll need this wired one: https://amzn.to/2Lf64DF or this Bluetooth unit: https://amzn.to/2NPQ50m (Android only) Have fun!
  10. Maybe you need a different spreadsheet. Try this one ACM line 109: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uDSQ1Z5a2Wt8-kjrSiVSlDFGFHnfeuhb3RTMVz95730/edit#gid=338817466 Every mod I've tried from this sheet has worked for my '16 Titanium but I don't have the artificial engine noise so can't try it. Cheers!
  11. Hi Jombi, welcome to the Ford Edge Forum and congrats on your new ST. Suggestion: Spend a lot of time sitting in your new ST with the owner's manual tracking down features and testing them. You'll discover a lot of things that way that it might take a long time to find otherwise. If you download the manual to your phone or a tablet it'll be easier to search for keywords when you have questions. Next, use forum search utilities. Your questions may have already been answered/discussed which saves you asking something then waiting for a reply. Enjoy your new car!
  12. I thought there was an on/off toggle for that in one of your info screens but maybe not. To answer your question, yes, you can completely disable that 'feature' using FORScan (a free program) and an OBDII reader. In the proverbial nutshell, you plug the reader into your OBDII port, link it to FORScan then search for the on/off switch for the artificial engine sound (ACM 727-01-01 xxxx x0xx xxxx change 1 to 0 where shown). If you're unfamiliar with FORScan then that won't make much sense to you but a search on this forum will offer plenty of information. Bottom line, it is possible and it's easy to do. Cheers!

    87 or E85 ?

The gas cap might have been replaced with one from another vehicle. I'd go with the manual's recommendation.
  14. HI Gunnar, The gen2 headlight housing comes out easily. Looking down at the top you'll see a bolt and a screw at the rear and a bolt at the front. Remove them. Remove the power plug from the rear of the housing. Now pull up on the housing to remove it. Some wiggling may be required but it'll come free. Now you can reach the turn signal bulbs. Switchbacks do require a couple of additional steps beyond just replacing a bulb. You can either install a 6 ohm resistor at each side or turn off hyperflash using Forscan (which you'll have to do anyway if you use an led bulb for a turn signal) and you have to connect the bulb's white side to a switched power source which is every unused fuse slot in the under hood fuse box. That's it! Cheers!
  15. Welcome to the forum! Modern engines use sensors to detect pre-ignition way before we can hear it and dial back timing. "Spark knock" shouldn't happen without getting an error code indicating a sensor has gone bad. That said, I don't know what else might be happening that sounds like pre-ignition when accelerating. If you have a code reader or auto parts store that'll let you borrow one you might want to check it for 'pending' codes.
  16. If I recall correctly we were told when signing up for access that only you and moderators could see your location and interests. Unfortunately turning that feature on at this point so 'everyone' could see the info might be unpopular with some who were assured not 'everyone' could see it. Way above my pay grade though. Traditionally members have been encouraged to put information like that in their sig (where your alternative vehicles are shown).
  17. Agreed but that information is normally in the sig. For some reason the majority of members on this forum choose not to fill out that profile information. It can really help zero in on an issue when someone posts without identifying the year/model of whatever it is they're talking about. Besides that, it's fun noting what others drive/ride. A Roush and a '99 Lowrider eh? Cool!
  18. Based on comments in this and other forums/groups that's a fairly common fix. Our owner's manual mentions that the light housings are vented but someone in engineering didn't get this one quite right for very humid places and areas with rapid temperature changes. It's my understanding that drilling several small holes in the bottom of the housing helps.
  19. Ernie, If you're out of warranty you might want to hunt up an independent shop to fix that oil pain (see what I did there?) since the dealer is inept. The balky moon roof is on you. There are multiple YouTube videos showing how to maintain it but basically, open the roof fully, use rags and/or cotton balls to clean out old grease and dirt from the tracks then re-lube with DiElectric grease. My '16 was taking nearly 15 seconds to close before cleaning, now it's 8 seconds flat. Do it before something (expensive) breaks. Cheers!
  20. If your MKX is the same as the '16 Edge the cable runs from the 4way trailer plug to another plug in the passenger side rear wheel well. Remove the cover and you'll see the plug. From there the cable goes to a control box mounted behind the passenger side cargo panel. The next stop is, I believe, a plug under the carpet in the passenger side just above the area where a passenger's right foot would rest. You'll find the fuse for the whole thing in the under-hood box, Fuse #78. Cheers!
  21. Ford has updated the Sync entertainment system over the years and it's easy for owners to modify (but not update) most of the modules (individual computers) via a special app and OBDII code reader.. Owners can visit Ford's website and check to see if individual systems need updating but only a dealer can actually 'update' them. You can also link the Sync3 system to your home network and check for updates but actually downloading them OTA and installing is hit and miss....mostly miss. Suggestion, while negotiating for that '19 Titanium ask them to throw in all available current updates if any plus updates for the next couple of years. You're right, Tesla is amazing with it's continual OTA updates and owner notifications.
  22. Unfortunately disabling the liftgate switch in the "Vehicle Settings" menu (left display) turns off the motor up/down function completely via either button or the foot display (I just tried it) so that's probably not going to work for you. As DaMiFo already suggested your only option appears to be getting under the Edge and disconnecting the sensor.
  23. I just used the forum search (searched for "sensor") to try and find the answer to your question. There seem to be two schools of thought (obviously this question has been asked before). Some say the existing sensor works just fine with an aftermarket hitch. Others say they were proactive and installed the split sensor unit Ford uses with the factory hitch installation. Bottom line, install your hitch and see if it works. If it does then you're good to go, come back and answer your own question for future hitch installers. If not you might have to relocate the existing sensor slightly or pony up for the split sensor at your friendly dealer parts counter. Cheers!
  24. Lemon laws are different in every state. An online search for "(your state) lemon law" will probably give you a step-by-step process. You could also report the issue to the NTSB. If they get enough complaints about the same issue Ford might be forced to issue a safety recall or at least issue a TSB as they did with the '15 and some early '16 Edge's with the grabby brake issue.
  25. Maybe there's something wrong with your fob? The owner's manual (mine's also a '16) says a second press of the panic button will turn the alarm off. Copy/Paste from the manual: "Sounding a Panic Alarm Note: The panic alarm will only operate when the ignition is off. E138624 Press the button to activate the alarm. Press the button again or switch the ignition on to deactivate." Next time I'm in a spot where the horn won't annoy anyone I'll give the panic button a try to see if my experience is the same as yours. Cheers!
