  1. If the starter is turning the engine over then your problem isn't the car battery. My first step would be to get the other key from Sis and see if the Edge fires up. If it does you'll know there's an issue with the other key.
  2. It's actually difficult to unintentionally lock your fob in the car If it's inadvertently left inside the doors will refuse to lock 'unless' you override the safety feature by locking with the keypad. The primary purpose of the keypad (as I see it) is to unlock the door to grab something from inside the car when you don't have the fob with you. You can then relock using the pad. As for starting the car if you lose the fob....well, you can't just as if you'd lost an ignition key. If you could then anybody could drive off with the vehicle right? Be sure to read your owner's manual (every single page) and operate each feature that's described. You'll find other uses for the keypad including the ability to leave the engine running, lock the doors and walk away....handy if you want to keep the AC or heat on for a short run into the quickie mart. BTW, there are things you can do to be certain nobody can drive away with your Edge if you 'do' leave it locked and running....but that's for another post.
  3. If you'll be shopping for the 3.5L V6 go with the 2012 to get the modified water pump and other improvements. AWD adds complexity and expense beyond slightly lower gas mileage but it's reportedly an excellent choice for snow or other slippery slopes. Whatever you get, do what you'd do for any pre owned car purchase; check the maintenance records before sealing the deal. You're looking for an Edge that's seen regular engine oil changes and (in a perfect world) coolant changes for the V6, lube drain and fills for the AWD power transfer unit and rear differential if equipped. If it has the vista roof, check operation to be sure it opens and closes smoothly. The tracks like occasional cleaning and lubricating. If you have an OBDII reader, plug it in during your test drive. It's amazing the things you can tell about a vehicle by looking at data you'd otherwise never see or discover when it's too late. No history of codes (sellers sometimes clear current codes just before a buyer shows up for a test drive) or pending codes probably means you've found a trouble free car.
  4. Yes, and easily. Stop by your local eBay and look for LED strips. You'll find them in all sorts of colors (even color changing RGB) either as single units or a kit with remote control. You can tuck lighting up under the dash, under the seats.....pretty much anyplace if you're willing to spend a little time running wire. The end result 'might' be nicer than Ford's OEM and for sure brighter. In the Gen2 Edge the power port (USB and 12V) timeout is adjustable. From the factory I believe the time out setting is around an hour and a half (it was with my '16) but using FORScan you can adjust that from zero (off with the engine) to something like 18 hours.

  6. Did you price out the parts only? Replacing a door seal and adding a splash shield shouldn't be difficult. Amazon has the OEM splash guards front and rear for under $100: https://amzn.to/345mXag Here's what it looks like on the front
  7. Ford is really good with paint colors that change depending on the light. My '16 Edge paint is called Bronze Fire Metallic. In full sun it's a sort of root beer brown but under a cloudy sky or in shade it's deep burgundy. Here's a great photo that shows the range of colors..It looks like the Persian Green might morph this way too:
  8. Oops, my bad. I didn't notice he was in the EU. Just a guess, Ford has some sort of deal to provide a similar service. The OP should check the EU Ford site for details.
  9. Do you have Sirius XM Travel Link activated? That's the service (believe it's free for several years after purchase of a new vehicle) that allows the nav unit to re-route if there's a major delay ahead of you. There's this note in the Sync 3 online tutorial: "Note: SYNC 3 provides an automatic re-route if traffic conditions change to cause a major delay on the originally selected route. Minor traffic changes won’t cause a re-route. This feature requires an active SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link® subscription.34" Here's a link to that page on the Ford site: https://owner.ford.com/support/how-tos/sync/sync-3/navigation/how-to-set-a-navigation-destination-with-sync-3.html
  10. GF, As you can see from previous posts (going back years) dealers are generally clueless when it comes to electronic gremlins. Fortunately, an Edge owner on another forum had the same issue. In the end it turned out to be corrupted FCIM data. A dealership tech reloaded the FCIM (as built) for the car and the settings became functional again. You can do that yourself with FORScan.
  11. You're confusing a Sync 3 update with a map update (what you probably got the email notification for). Downloading the latest map (actually first quarter 2018) costs $109 from the map update page: https://ford.navigation.com/home/en_US/FordNA/USD Updates to Sync 3 are free from Ford's owner page (note, you have to be logged into your Ford.com account for access): https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html?gnav=header-owner BTW, neither of those are warranty items. You can ask your shop to do the work but you'll have to pony up for the hourly rate.
  12. I don't know the answer to your question but suggest you look in the Cargo, Hauling, Roof Rack section of the forum. You're likely to find an answer there: https://www.fordedgeforum.com/forum/31-cargo-hauling-roof-racks-towing/
  13. I recently had a Ford dealership service writer admit to me he doesn't really know anything about cars beyond how to put gas in and....maybe...change a tire. At least it sounds like your guy is willing to take the next step and consult someone who actually does the job. I guarantee you the dealership has the tools to do what I posted above. If they tell you it isn't a warranty item because it isn't broken, head for another dealership. Or, just blow them off and do it yourself with FORScan which 'might' be used by independent shops but 'is' certainly used by members of Ford forums representing literally every model produced by Ford and Lincoln since 2010 or so. One caution, once you start using FORScan it's a slippery slope. You'll start by adjusting your steering wheel temperature then you'll decide your horn beeps too much and you'll turn that off. Then you'll decide to fiddle with your lighting and maybe lock the shift lever when the fob isn't in the car. There are, literally, hundreds of changes YOU can make without getting the dealer involved.
  14. From one Arizona resident to another, welcome to the Ford Edge Forum! You'll probably be getting offers for those Sport wheels after you've replaced them. They seem to be very popular (maybe among owners wanting their non sport models to look like one). Too bad about the tires. Usually any tire that can be repaired with a plug can also be fixed with an internal patch and will have normal tire life after that.
  15. It might help boost interest if you mention the brand, maybe offer a link to product information and ratings etc. I'd be interested in seeing your review after the 50 mile test drive.
  16. Your dealer just doesn't want to do the work or the service writer simply isn't aware of what can and can not be done. The steering wheel temperature is easily controllable using FORScan (and whatever the dealer uses to adjust modules). You'll find the codes under HSWM in FORScan:
  17. Hi Hawks, Someplace in the car there's probably a drain plugged. You declined to say where on the planet you live but if it's still warm enough to use the air conditioning look at the AC drain. If it gets clogged with dirt or something builds a nest inside all the condensation from the AC unit collects until it's spilling onto your carpets. If, on the other hand, you live someplace that's been excessively wet recently consider your sun roof (if equipped) drain as a prime suspect. Bottom line, water that 'should' be getting outside is staying inside and that's almost always caused by a blocked drain.
  18. Next time that light comes on, go to your 'distance to empty' screen and note the miles. From then on you'll always know the general range without needing to check. BTW the '16 manual says the light will come on with 50 miles of fuel left. Mine comes on at 35 miles.
  19. Carmen, Replacing horns is simple and not expensive. I swapped out the OEM horns in a Toyota for these. https://amzn.to/2Y2PVWC It was a huge improvement. In most cases (unless you're using air horns for instance) replacement horns are a direct swap. Just unplug the connector and remove your original horns then bolt the replacements to the original bracket. Plug them in and you're done. Another option, grab a couple of horns from another Ford at a wrecking yard. It'll probably set you back $10.
  20. I recommend you purchase and carry a jump starter battery like this one (or similar). https://amzn.to/34KXXGt It's the 21st century equivalent to old fashioned jumper cables but much easier to use; no second vehicle required. I keep mine in the storage area with the spare tire but they're small enough to put in a glove box or center console. Most will jump start a car several times before they need a recharge and have USB ports for charging phones/tablets etc. The one I linked above was half price on Black Friday so maybe it'll be on sale again for Cyber Monday. If it isn't then others surely will be.
  21. Ladies, I don't know whether this will help much but for five bucks it might be worth a try: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Blue-Non-Slip-Automatic-Gas-Brake-Foot-Pedal-Pad-Cover-Car-Accessories-Universal/163902617992?fits=Model%3AMKX|Make%3ALincoln&hash=item26295b7988:g:DXIAAOSwXxxdoTc8 It's unfortunate that Ford doesn't offer an adjustable pedal option for the Edge or even Lincoln's version, the MKX. For adjustable pedals you have to get into one of the larger offerings, Explorer, Flex, MKT etc.
  22. You're absolutely right David. I considered mentioning that (again) yesterday but then thought....no, I'll just hide and watch the competition to see who can destroy their (expensive) fuel pump the fastest.
  23. Yes, Sync3 V3 Build 18093 using the animated GT open/close screen and background.
  24. It does 'not' come standard on 2018 models according to Ford's 'FordPass' page: https://owner.ford.com/fordpass/fordpass-sync-connect.html It's my understanding owners of many '17 and later Ford vehicles can purchase the system separately from your Ford dealer. I'm attaching a Monroney sticker from a '19 Edge so you can see where it would be noted on your '18 if you had it (it's in red):
  25. Have you tried adjusting the brightness of your display? Maybe a previous owner turned the level down at some point. Go to Settings then page over to Display then to Brightness and crank it up. The level is right in the center from the factory. See pics of my '16 screen below.
