Good lord Dudester, chill! Did you miss the smiley at the end of the paragraph you're referring to? I tried to answer your question as best I could with the information available. If you saw my post as an attack then I apologize. I'd still like to suggest you revisit your profile to add the year of your edge or add a sig just so everyone knows how to respond if you ask a question about the car in the future. Different years/models offer different features.
  2. How did you get to the 3rd brake light wiring and (if it matters) what was the color of the wire?
  3. A car heater relies on coolant warmed by the engine to provide cabin heat. Until that coolant is warmed up and circulating through the system you won't get much if any heat from the vents. That's a great reason to use your remote start if you have it. Press a button while you're still getting ready to leave your home/office and by the time you get into the car you'll probably have some heat. The cabin will warm more quickly if you set the system to recirculate rather than fresh air.
  4. This is an easy do it yourself job thanks to the many kits now available. Check out online sources like eBay and Amazon with searches for 12V mood lighting. There are long led strips, short led strips and literally every color of the rainbow available. The RGB strips that can be controlled with a simple remote are very popular. But why stop with led? Take a look at EL wire options ( https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.X12v+el+wire.TRS0&_nkw=12v+el+wire&_sacat=0 ) Once the LED strips or EL wire are installed where you want them you can run wiring to a central harness then connect that to any switched fuse using an add-a-fuse. One tip, allow some slack in the wiring so you can move the lights later. Sometimes a location that 'seemed like a good idea at the time' ends up reflecting off of something and the strip has to be relocated slightly. Installing additional interior lighting can be an easy fun project.
  5. A salute is in order for washing your own vehicle rather than paying to have it sprayed with hydrofluoric acid and other toxic chemicals. Meanwhile your issues are easily solved! 1. Only move your foot in/out. The sensor doesn't even see a side to side motion most of the time. Practice it a couple of times at home and you'll find a sweet spot where a single kick always opens the liftgate. 2. Install a key hook someplace handy but at least 3 feet from the car. Without the fob the liftgate won't spontaneously open and the doors won't keep cycling through lock/unlock while you're doing the wash either. Shiny car, no more gremlins....win!
  6. Maybe you've already tried all this but check page 384-386 of your owner's manual. Here's a copy/paste (sorry, the formatting came out a little wonky) Accessing Your USB Song Library 1. 7. There are multiple headliners depending on year/model and whether you have the BAMR or not. Here's a link to a shop that sells them so you can choose yours from a menu: https://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?ModelId=783&MainCatId=7 That should give you some idea of pricing.

I'll take a swing at this one. You're asked for the year because people are notoriously bad about identifying the year of their Edge when asking questions. That creates delays when other members try to help and have to ask "what year/generation is your car?" Or worse, give you a wrong answer. I notice you didn't fill in the year of your Edge so expect to be asked at some point when you have a question (or you can go back and change it in your profile). You have to fill in the word "Edge" because the system is automated and can't add that on its own. As for the other 'interests' info, I suspect the sysops just try to get a feel for their memberships personalities. Based on your post everyone now knows you're a curmugeonly type. Offer some positive posts and creative ideas...prove me wrong. Cheers!
  9. Two recent upgrades that have worked out really well. 1. I pulled off my original screen protector (made from a leftover tablet screen protector) and replaced it with this one. https://amzn.to/37FE1px (photo below) It has reduced glare by a small amount when the roof is open but the BIG change is a total lack of fingerprints. I constantly had oily smudges on the old protector this one just stays clean. Easily installed with no change in sensitivity on the screen. The photo is after a week of use. I didn't wipe the screen before taking the shot....no fingerprints. 2. Added larger paddle shifters. This obviously won't be of much interest to most Edge owners (who rarely if ever use the paddles anyway) but if you 'do' use them these things pretty much put an end to the 'where's the paddle go?" issue when you're forced to shift with the wheel turned or just want your hands in a more comfortable position. I ordered it via AliExpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.buyer_leave_review.0.0.429b6c1bWCd9iO&orderId=8006838981838461&productId=32819415273 Price at the time was $29 for the set. It appears there might have been an increase since then (new year?). It took one month and two days to arrive from somewhere deep inside China so don't be in a hurry if you do order. Installation is easy with (supplied) double sided 3M tape.
  10. If all else fails....check with your local motorcycle shops. Start with Harley stores and if that doesn't work out look for custom bike or hot rod builders. They make up custom stainless (braided) steel lines with whatever fittings are needed all the time. Call around, see who does this then take your OEM line to the shop. They can have a new one for you in a matter of minutes. I used Goodridge lines on my bikes for years and all were custom fabricated. Price isn't much more (if any) than an off the shelf factory made line.
  11. Try this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chilton-26220-Repair-Manual-2007-13-Ford-Edge-Lincoln-MKX/331512923051
  12. A dealer 'might' have tried to address rattles while you were under the 3/36 warranty. Unless you extended that you're now on your own. The solution? Find someone who's fairly flexible (small helps too) to track down all those little noises while you drive on a bumpy road. They'll have to press on panels, maybe use a simple stethoscope (a short length of garden hose works better than you'd think). Open things, close things, adjust seats, adjust headrests, rearrange storage areas etc. Once noises are identified you'll have to come up with your own solutions that might involve anything from tightening a screw to forcing a little bit of soft foam in between panel joints or even adding sound deadener/padding inside door panels.. Should we have to do all this? No, but we bought a Ford, not a BMW 6 series, a Lexus or, for that matter, even a Lincoln.
  13. OBDLink products can make use of their proprietary software (free download) but that only displays vehicle data. I've found the app "Torque Pro" to be a far better choice if you have an Android phone/tablet. As already noted, to make changes to the Edge's systems you'll need the (free) FORScan for PCs.
  14. You're not alone with this issue. My '16 (built after the TSB date) reacts exactly the same as yours at low speed and is particularly bad when the brakes are cold. It makes creeping along in a fast food pickup queue maddening. I've asked in these forums before whether a pad change would help but never received a definitive answer.
  15. Have conditions changed? Maybe it's gotten really cold where you are so the system thinks the heater needs to stay on? Your owner's manual should have a list of conditions (too hot, too cold, battery weak etc) that will prevent that system from functioning.
  16. 1. Be sure your thumb drive is formatted FAT32 despite Ford's online instructions. 2. Check to be sure all of the zip files transferred to the 'root' director of the flash drive and there's nothing else on the drive. The V2 usb should work fine, in fact some have reported issues using V3.
  17. Hi Merritt, Good news, FORScan is free to use. You'll download from forscan.org then load it to a PC and register for two months (renewable) of use for free. To use it you'll need an OBDII code reader. If you prefer a wired type that plugs into a laptop via USB you'll want something like this: https://amzn.to/39qcLg3 If you like the flexibility of being able to check vehicle data while you're on the road (using an app like Torque Plus) you'll want a bluetooth enabled product like this: https://amzn.to/2F51BQ0 Or, if you have an iOS phone you'll need a slightly pricier option: https://amzn.to/2Qw1n9P Again, the wired code reader will work fine for turning options on/off. For on the road flexibility, go with one of the wireless options. Cheers
  18. Are you spraying water under the rear of your ST? The kick sensor might be recording that as a solid item (a foot) kicking to open the hatch. Next time you use a commercial wand to do a wash try intentionally spraying under the car. The fix is fairly simple, place your key fob several feet away from the car. This is on page 67 of my owner's manual, it's probably in yours too: Note: Splashing water may cause the hands-free liftgate to open. Keep the intelligent access key away from the rear bumper detection area when washing your vehicle.
  19. I have a '16 without the stop-start feature so I'm far from an expert but.....it's my understanding multiple things have to align to have the system kick in and stop the engine. Outside temperature can't be extreme enough to require heat or ac, the battery has to be fully charged and you have to be pressing fairly hard on the brake pedal while stopped. That last item you can play with and see if it works for you. Heavy enough on the brake to keep your Edge stopped but not so hard you invoke the auto system. There are two other ways to sidestep the system. One involves removing a control module from the positive terminal of your battery, the second requires accessing one of the vehicle's modules using FORScan to turn the battery managment system off. The good news is all the above is, except for purchasing an OBDII code reader to use FORScan, free. If you still want to install the bypass module getting into the center console is extremely easy. Take a look at this YouTube video that details how to remove the radio/nav screen. You won't be going that far but it shows how easy it is to pull the side trim pieces and the top of the console off to reach connections:
  20. 1. Agreed, the cargo light could be placed higher (like the back seat lighting) but there's a simple solution. Harbor Freight gives these very bright, palm size LED flashlights away all the time. In fact, here's a coupon good through the end of 2020. Tuck one in the right side storage slot of the cargo compartment for that rare time you need more light: Toss another one in one of the storage compartments with the spare tire in case of emergency. Stash another one in the glove box. 2. To see what gear your in when in Drive pull the right side (+) paddle. The current gear will be displayed for a few seconds.
  21. In 2004 the job of a battery was to start the car and provide a steady voltage to run lighting and a radio. In today's cars it's constantly supplying power to 'always on' modules waiting for signals from a remote to start or unlock doors, monitor wifi for system updates, open/close the hatch and probably a lot more. There's so much drain that the Edge will actually put itself to sleep after several days of non operation just to preserve power for a future start. When that happens you get a message on your screen telling you hibernation mode (or shipping mode) is in effect. Even then something's on and waiting for a door unlock signal. It's not an easy life being an automotive battery these days.
  22. Getting the OEM usb port out and putting a new one in is really simple. All of your center console panels are held in by clips that release easily. This YouTube video shows you the step by step to get the entire APIM out...you don't have to go nearly that far. There's supposed to be a video showing how to get the USB module out without removing anything but the right side console panel but I couldn't find it. Another option, just switch to Android (kidding).
  23. Kreiger, You need to do two things. 1. Do a parasitic battery drain test. You'll find numerous videos on YouTube along with online tutorials and the only tool you need is a multimeter. Here's a link to one test method: https://axleaddict.com/auto-repair/car-batterydrain That's pretty much the only way you'll be able to figure out exactly what's pulling the life out of your battery. If you don't have a multimeter, get one. They're not expensive, in fact Harbor Freight literally gives them away. 2. Get yourself a modern emergency jump start battery. They're inexpensive and can be stored in the glove box or with the spare tire (depending how often you need it). Here's an example: https://amzn.to/2ZoYUSY That's the one I have and, while it hasn't been needed for my Edge (yet) it 'has' started numerous other vehicles without a hiccup. No more calling for roadside service and no dealing with big cumbersome jumper cables that require another car.
