Best GTDI oil to use and when to change?
DrivingofftheEdge replied to DrivingofftheEdge's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
I dont floor it everywhere. Mostly give it a good shot when getting on the highway. I more or less enjoy the function and longevity. I like a perfect running machine. -

What about SN rated oil? Or is that something different? -
What is the best oil to use in a DI engine and should you change it by mileage or time?

The sensor on the back of the engine that is on the hose that goes from the turbo inlet to the valve cover, what does it do exactly. I try to get pressure readings, only get -.1 to .4 psi.

I did it now! Team RXP 2020 dual catch can kit
DrivingofftheEdge replied to DrivingofftheEdge's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
Ok well......... cant get a hold of James at RXP. So I'll ask the community for ideas. This is the schematic I sent to him a few months ago. The only part that is a bit of a question mark is the port on the rear of the valve cover. Some people I see plug it off and put a filter on the fitting on the side of the small can. There doesnt seem to be any straight forward instructions on the 2.0 with the new dual can set up. -

I sent james a schematic and he said everything looks good. I'm just waiting for his reply to my recent email. I'd hate to take this system off because of a lack of communication. -

UPDATE: So it's been about 3 months. Up until 3 weeks ago there was nothing going into either can. I talked to james at RXP and we tried a couple of ideas to figure out what the problem was. Tried turning the check valves to face upwards. Didnt help. He asked if I had springs in both check valves and that's when I said uhhh what springs? So......he shipped me out the springs that should've been in the check valves. After 3 weeks, I finally had alittle fluid collecting in the large can, the little can.........not so much. -

Actually my cans are mounted between the rad fans and the intake cover. I sent james at RXP a schematic of how everything is ran and it's how he says to run it -

I completely agree that anything but air getting in the intake is no no, but there still should be some sort of vapors getting into the can when the operating temperature is up.. -

Ok it's been about 4 months since I installed the catch cans, not 1 drop of oil or any moisture for that matter. No problems with the car running or check engine light or anything but just find it odd that there is NOTHING in there. -

A couple of things different. That's a focus pre-2015, not sure of the engine. The crossover pipe that goes from the intercooler to the inlet at the rear of the engine has the diverter valve on the bottom under the oil pan. I'll post some pics, I ordered the boomba racing adapter. -

Why do you have to remove the passenger wheel? Isnt the air bypass valve right under the oil pan? -
Has anyone put a BOV adapter on their 2.0? I cant find any that "fit". The have one that works on the fusion/escape and focus as well as f150 and mustang but nothing for the edge with a 2.0 liter.

I churched up the lines today with labels and I was thinking about running both drains to a Y fitting then down in front of the radiator support and mount the valve there. https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=20200412_155027.jpg Literally a half a day project. James from RXP answered any questions I had. From the time I ordered it until it was manufactured and shipped was about 10 days. The kit came with everything I needed and I added the extra heat shrink clamps. I definitely recommend it. We'll see what it pulls out by next oil change. -

Then I took the 2 lines coming from the shorter fittings on the big can and cut in the inline 1 way fittings. https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=20200406_125421.jpg I used the bolt on 1 side of the air box inlet to mount the bracket. https://www.dropbox.com/home?preview=20200406_162633.jpg
