Yes, the manual does warn not to sway sideways. I still can't get the hang of it so that it consistently opens or closes. I'll have to look underneath to see where the sensor is.

Disappointed with communication
cv27 replied to Etienne Bégin's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
Étienne, Being also from Canada, I have found over the years that Ford Canada does its best, BUT the Canadian organization is not at the same level as the one in Dearborn. During the Sync saga a few years back, I soon found out that information is first created in Dearborn and later, sometimes too much later, crosses over to Canada. I dealt directly with the US Invehicle technology center. Even then, it wasn't perfect: Ford has many layers that don't necessarily exchange at the speed of light. As for dealers, mine is golden when it comes to deal time, but I'm miles (kilometers) ahead of him on information, partly because of this forum and personal contacts in the US organization. So now you can cancel your order and either: 1- Wait for the 2016, which will likely be available early/mid 2016, not September 2015 as others have speculated 2- Hunt the lots for a vehicle closest to your order, but they're rarely a 100% match I understand the frustration though. -
Learn something new everyday... thanks for the info.

Just picked up my 2015 Titanium Edge a few days ago. I didn't have much time playing with it, but here are my first impressions (= subjective, remember): 1. 2015 Edge Titanium – pictures attached a. 2.0 EB b. Fully loaded minus the Drivers assist package 51D (I wanted mine in 2015) c. 20” wheels, towing d. Exterior: Magnetic; interior: Cognac 2. I ordered a Cognac interior, a high risk choice given the wide spectrum of this new color on the Internet, from fluorescent orange to dark brown; sure is a different color than the Cognac I drink! Bottom line though, I love it Edit: Notice in the 2 seat pictures how different the color is depending on light refraction? The most realistic color for Cognac is the headrest 3. Vista roof – seems much bigger (compared to my 2011); they made the separator between the front and back sections thinner and black and this I believe gives the impression of a much larger glass area 4. Securicode keyless entry keypad – looks futuristic, much better looking than the previous ‘bolted on’ keypad 5. Front seats provide a much better wrap around feeling (compared to my 2011 Edge Ltd); first thing my wife noticed as a passenger 6. Electric steering needs getting used to, seems very light 7. Brakes are a bit too sensitive, maybe this will attenuate as they ‘brake’ in 8. Vehicle compartment is extremely air tight: convenient for sound proofing, but requires a stronger push for doors to close (compared to my 2011) 9. Chassis more rigid (Fusion’s), but that translates into a stiffer ride, maybe this will attenuate after brake in of shocks 10. Difficult to insert the SD card in its slot in that narrow compartment, same goes for USB; but I can now insert a USB stick directly in that location without fear of breaking it off as was the case when it was in the center console (I used a USB extension to avoid that in my 2011) 11. What USB generation (1.2.3) are these ports? Nowhere documented 12. Are the USB ports fast charging? Nowhere documented, although we’ve heard they now are 13. Central console storage compartment needs getting used to with dual type of opening (with or without the top tray); cool though 14. Since my first Edge in 2008, I always felt the documentation for programming the HomeLinc is confusing a. Why do I have to program the car button with an existing remote, then program the car button to the door opener? b. Is it obvious that you need to do both operations, especially since you managed to operate the garage door in the first step? 15. Rear cargo area – seems so much bigger, I wish I had measured my 2011 to compare 16. What is that latch-like thing underneath the cargo flat hard cover? 17. 110V 150w plug – now I can sell my bulky ’12 to 110’ converter 18. Heated steering wheel: why not imbed a sensor and have the steering wheel heat come on when its temperature is below a set temperature (defined in driver settings) ? 19. Why is the “kick in and out” to open the rear so unreliable? And I know it’s not just me: I’ve seen countless reviews where it’s a hit and miss 20. With this move to LED lighting all around, why hold on to the incandescent lights just for the front turn signals? While we’re at it, why not introduce the LED or even laser headlamps? Isn’t this a technology car right on the edge? 21. How does one find out what that button is, on the console, rear of the Parking aid button? After a long reading, it appears that it’s the Parking aid switch, which I assume disables all obstacle warnings 22. Active grille shutter system ? a. Source book says it’s optional on all models but the Sport where it’s standard b. Order guide says it’s standard on all models 23. Cooled front seats – I wish I had those before on those long 600 miles a day trips; sure, you have AC, but those leather seats keep your butt in an uncomfortable sensation of heat & sweat 24. Remote start – finally a 2-way system, so you get visual confirmation on the remote that the thing did start in that -40°C weather (for some of us) 25. Wiper stick – getting pretty loaded and complex to remember what does what 26. User manual (2014/12 edition) – so many contradictions and false statements, needs a lot or update work; ex: mention of Power steering fluid symbol while the thing is electric 27. Compass on right info display – why did they shrink it (compared to 2011) ?

2015 Edge Sport Lane Assist
cv27 replied to built2prfctn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
You guys are all right. As I said, "The technology we're talking about is currently in its infancy". It does not 'replace', but rather 'assist'; it also depends on the human driver to compensate when it skews up. Here we go beta testing again -
I thought if it detects a keyfob inside while you're trying to lock that it will deny the lock process. Happened to me this way anyway.
-
Interesting... I ordered mine the exact same date and am picking it up tonight. April 22nd - Got off the assembly line; will sit in parking lot for 7 days April 29th - left Oakville on train to Montreal (I assume it got there the day after) May 8th - delivered to my dealer; I'm surprised it took so long to loaded it off the train yard (9 days)

I've seen this color on the dealer's lot. Interesting how, depending on the ambient light, it goes from true greenish to dark grey with a dab of dark green. I think it actually looks pretty original compared to the usual 50 shades of grey. Had I seen it live when I ordered, I might have chosen this versus the Magnetic.

2015 Edge Sport Lane Assist

The technology we're talking about is currently in its infancy. I personally get overly excited with this stuff, but in 2015 I think of it as an assistant to my driving, not a substitute. Reliability is not there yet. Even with my low reliance of these technologies (for now), I sure wish they existed when I drove 1000 miles every year to South Carolina and back. I can remember the last few 100 miles, usually around 2:00 in the morning, where I would stop every 30 minutes to shake it up. But still, I would go through those micro-sleeping mentioned by cab2g before realizing I needed to stop. In my case, lane assist would have been great. Better get used to it: in a few decades, maybe longer, cars will be so computer controlled that they'll get you to through a 1000 miles on I-95 while you're napping. -
I think what Chocobear is trying to say is that, yes, functions do activate as they should, but do not de-activate when they ought to (unless engine is turned off). From my understanding, for example, automatic lights will turn on while driving in a tunnel, but won't turn off after exiting, as they should.

I know mine hit its destination city, close to a week ago, probably sitting in the railroad yard waiting for the trucker to load up back to my dealership. My dealership today was telling me they're getting several truck loads every day since Monday, just not MY Edge. There's still 2 days left this week...

2015 Edge Sport Lane Assist
cv27 replied to built2prfctn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks guys, good to know. It seems we're seeing the gradual introduction of building blocks to "driver-less assist". Just when you thought the car would become a beige commodity, here comes technology to spice things up. -

2015 Edge Sport Lane Assist
cv27 replied to built2prfctn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Lane assist is only useful I guess on extended drives on highways. One thing I'm curious about. One of the many 'review' videos submitted on this forum seems to allude to the fact that lane assist will actually try to gently steer back into the lane; this is beyond vibration. Any comments on this? -

Suggest you do a search on this forum. You're right, it has been discussed extensively. -
"Torque Vectoring Control standard on all models" from the 2015 Edge source book
-
Where does the site mention it's in beta or that it is not for public consumption? The point is, or rather the reality of it is, that anyone browsing these forums will learn about that site, will go there at least once to check it out and will leave it more confused or disappointed than before. I know FordService (Tricia) is very helpful on this forum but, to me, it would make more sense to setup a public hook into Ford's tracking system that would provide if only these two elements: build date, dealer delivery date, with all the caveats of 'no responsibility'. Tricia would only then have to address the exceptional situations. What do you think?
-
If so, Ford should take it out. It doesn't do much for Ford's image to keep up a non functional Web page.
-
Mine was built on April 22nd. No big deal but interesting that yours was built 1 day prior: I ordered mine mid-February. ETA for me is May 10th.
-
It doesn't even match if you enter the Order/Dealer/Last name
-
Beyond eventually getting a build date, you can't track by yourself. Everybody will tell you your dealer can, but the reports they get (or should I say mine got) don't seem to always match reality. No one of this forum has really explained how the tracking process works. There is obviously a method for tracking, but those in the know won't share the details. The only client accessible tool is Ford's ETIS site which, from my experience, will show a real build date the day the vehicle leaves the assembly line. So you can get an anticipated build date from your dealer, then check up on ETIS every day to see when the build is complete.
-
My 2011 Edge's build date shows ok on ETIS, but my upcoming 2015 shows up as 30.11.0002 ??? It was supposedly built last Friday April 17th.
