  1. Granted, if both Edges you tried appeared to have this excess heat, you would think it IS an issue with all Edges. But it's not. I regularly use seat cooling at its highest setting and have never witnessed any heat in the back. I have, as others, complained that there should be as much cooling in the back as in the seat.
  2. All though 1st year issues have been documented, I'm not sure this leak issue falls in that category, if you believe what follows. Here's what I heard from my dealer today on this issue. Apparently, the robot handling the sealing process wasn't provisioned adequately with sealer and it took a while before people on the assembly line woke up and reacted. I personally see a few holes in this explanation, but who knows, maybe it's not as sophisticated as we think.
  3. The maintenance schedule says 150 000 miles for transmission oil change. Why would you want to change after 4k instead of 150k?
  4. Not to limit your freedom of expression, but you've posted variances of the same text in 3 threads. If you're looking for answers, I would stick to one thread.
  5. This is what I understand: those state laws surely did not intend to encourage bad practices from dealers, but this is what is happening with some of these dealers. I'm not arguing the existence of these state laws, I'm just suggesting it's time to change things, leave that comfortable inertia position of "it's the law, or the rule, or it's always been like this". If it doesn't fit anymore, change it. That will happen if we as customers research dealer reputation and ignore the bad apples. I also think Ford has enough impact to effect change: maybe bad dealers hasn't affected its business enough. One thing for sure though, if we keep saying the situation can't change, well, it won't. Canada doesn’t have laws against car companies selling direct to consumers, but it's not happening. Tesla has attempted to disrupt the antiquated 3rd party dealership model and was met with fierce resistance. Why keep that model? "Because the model benefits the economy", "because it prevents car manufacturers from price fixing". Typical NRA style arguments. My un-researched, unfounded assessment: someone financially benefits from it and it's not the consumer.
  6. Ford is powerless to fix it? None the less it's Ford's image that gets hurt in some radius around those non compliant dealers. And with today's media, it's not just that radius around the dealer, it can extend to a much broader audience. The auto industry has been living this type of situation for decades !!! Ford: stop this "it's your fault Mr Dealer, no it's yours Mr Ford" thing, put in some partnership rules and controls with the dealers. It's been done before in other industries. Do you believe a McDonald franchise selling bad quality wouldn't get someone breathing down the franchisee's neck? So maybe you think the dealers won't go for that? I would respond shape up or ship out Mr Dealer. Then you might say the contracts are written up such that corporate Ford has no choice? That's the terrible thing with the law, there's always a different interpretation when you want to get around it. So Ford, redo the contracts: both you and your dealers will benefit.
  7. Funny how contagious this is. After reading this, I went for a spin with 'S' (Titanium 2.0EB AWD) and man what a difference from 'D' getting off street corners. Still need to see how 'S' reacts on an On ramp full out: that's where I miss the HP's of my previous Edge's 3.5L for that continuous push.
  8. When I had my Edge in for the preventive fix (no leaks, but 15B21 against my VIN), I asked the service guy how long it would be: he mentioned a time based on the 8 he had done in his lot. If you think about it, it does not make sense for a dealer to ignore the issue: reputation, reputation, reputation. If yours did ignore it, it's time to looks else where.
  9. I had the V6 (3.5L) in my previous 2008 and 2011. I got the 2.0EB in the 2015. I am still impressed at the torque this EB has, works for me, but I can feel the slight advantage the 3.5L had in, for example, ramping up to a highway because of its HP. I wish I could have ordered the 2.7EB on the Titanium... As far as MPG or L/100km for us up north, I haven't so far been impressed with any gain from the 4 cylinder, but then I'm only at about 1000 km and I'm not the most patient driver with the gas pedal. I chose Cognac for the interior: I've seen too many black interiors and ceramic/beige dirties up too easily. Heat absorption wise, I guess it's a compromise between the extremes, black or white. But as another poster mentioned, the sun poring into the vehicle from all sides including the panoramic roof will heat up any interior, nothing that an 'all windows down and AC' can't quickly change. Of all 3 Edges I've owned, this is the best.
  10. Correct, I'm actually at 3.7.11 (EA5T-14D544-AB)
  11. A master reset will clear everything including personal settings so that's why I was looking at the reboot. So, does anyone know of a more recent version of reboot that works with 3.62 (please, don't suggest the battery cable approach) ?
  12. Hoping I'm not duplicating a previous thread... I'm having the following issues with navigation, Edge Titanium 2015; it started about a month after I took delivery: - After a 'while' (undefined at this time), the navigation cursor stops flashing - I've set Nav to 3D Map mode, which displays the progression of the current route in a vertical manner; after a 'while' (undefined at this time), the navigation display will rotate the progression of the current route at a 45° or -45° or 90° or -90° angle - The zoom level stays stuck on 50m non-auto; trying to set it to auto has no effect Turning power off/on usually clears the issue, temporarily, because it eventually comes back. So I thought it might be time to reboot MFT, using a 2011 .cab: doesn't kick MFT into reboot on 3.62. Does anyone know of a more recent version of reboot that works with 3.62 (please, don't suggest the battery cable approach) ?
  13. Not sure what you meant there, but I can confirm that start-stop is not available on AWD, after foolishly trying to find the parameter to activate it on My Titanium AWD only to read later in the Order Guide "Twin-scroll 2.0-liter EcoBoost® with Stop-Start (47B). Note: Not Available with AWD"
  14. I can't figure how AWD interferes with star-stop...
  15. Reviewers, including these guys, run in subjective mode, the same way we do when picking a vehicle. Question: if the Edge did not exist, would you pick one of the two others in that car review, or turn away until something else was created? We look at what's available, create a short list based on very personal criteria (for most, I think) and then go out to get the best price. What's the best vehicle overall? There's no answer, it depends, it depends on what turns you on (while it may turn the other guy off).
  16. Touchy brakes yes, no squealing yet for me, but then only 1200 km
  17. No need for premium, regular octane will do just fine.
  18. There are 3 types of lighting control: you can read about it in the owner manual, pages 85-87. Regardless which type the SEL has, the 3rd button from the left controls whether the interior lights come on when opening the door(s).
  19. Good info, thanks. I'm still puzzled as to why, within the range of dates where vehicles were affected, some vehicles are fine, others not. You would think that some calibration issue with the amount of sealer would be constant over a period, no?
  20. Are you noticing this on a up or down hill?
  21. Ordered Feb 13th, built April 22nd, drove it May 12th. But we're seeing more posts about delays lately
  22. If the carpets are not wet, Ford allows 0.7 hrs I believe to apply the sealant, so I would not expect them to offer a loaner. If the carpets are wet, then that's a lonnnng repair and a loaner is a must. Either way, it takes 30 seconds to feel the carpets to know which way the repairs will go.
  23. When I went in for 15B21, the service guy mentioned that, if the carpets were wet, they were instructed to dry them !!!! However, I did not see his instructions on paper. He also mentioned his experience with the F-150: apparently they had leaks as well (no time frame).
  24. Mine was in 'transit' for 16 days, rail and local transport, so I would hang another week.
  25. My VIN (build date April 22nd 2015) was flagged with 15B21, but the vehicle has been dry since delivery. Went in today for FSA correction. The service guy seemed to know where the leak is theoretically according to the repair notes and applied sealer. I'm still puzzled why my ride has been dry, even standing in the rain and after a few car washes.
