Not too surprised by the straight line performance although its a laugh that its actually slower (when Ford released their 0-60 as "below 6" and not actually quoting a number, I knew something was up). What gets me is the small margin between the Sport and ST in terms of lateral G's... Going from a well balanced sport chassis to something being labeled with "Focus RS like mid corner pogoing" you'd expect a decent increase in those figures. On a sidenote; watched a X3 M40i review the other day, what a beast! That thing sounds insane!!!!!!! You must be loving it!?

Congrats on the amazing car!

Finally got around to reading the instrument tested Motortrend review of the Edge ST. So its slower than the Sport to 60, slower over 400m and pulls less G's through the figure 8. Seems about right... The ST is stronger on the brakes though. Also, with this not being a piece of road picked by ford engineers like all the initial reviews we got from the ford sponsored event, this was the feedback on the handling: " The performance shocks ride very, very stiffly on bad pavement and allowed a bit of early Focus RS-type pogoing mid-corner when pushed hard." Edit: If you didnt know, the Focus RS is renowned for being the most overly stiff hot hatch of all, even more so than the old Civic Type R and A45...

Glad you are enjoying it!

10% stiffer infront, 20% in the back with firmer anti-roll bars and it improved the ride? Now that is remarkable! Glad you are enjoying you new car

You are truly special.

Why not just ask Hypertech to send you a diagram to show which fuses to pull. I cant provide that I too have to recommend maybe trying another tuner. And I like Hypertech tunes....

For the sake of this topic, I will stop participating in this thread.

And this shows you are not lying about being an IT Architect.

Don't apologize, your reality of how things works aligns 100% with the Ford Motor Company's idea of how "things" work and that is EXACTLY why their stock price looks the way it looks. Looking forward to buying them on the dip, you just keep on giving them good advice before they figure out its 2018...

IT Architect, gotcha... say no more.

Are you serious? Maybe not for you but in the current age of social media, reviews can make or break a product.... I have NEVER driven a car where it was nothing like the reviews made it out to be. Honestly, I am now 100% convinced, Ford is paying you to say these things...

As it is now, the Edge will not be on my shopping list but I knew that when I heard they are putting an ST badge on it. Maybe, they will bring the Sport back at some point or maybe even do a Platinum version of the Edge (presume this will cannibalize MKX sales though so they will probably not do it); they did just release the F150 platinum with the Raptor engine so there is someone at Ford that knows what they are doing...

"Instead, the end product is a clumsy-engineered SUV that isn’t all that quick off the line." I bet the reason why Ford hasnt announced 0-60 times yet, is because with the lag and slow shifting box, the ST is not much faster off the line than the Sport. Why else launch a HOT Suv and then not tell us how HOT it is...

Ford built the ST brand, not me... In all of their marketing material they mentioned it as the fastest ST they have built and how it aligns with the rest of the ST line in terms of handling, sound and chassis tuning. Nowhere did they mention fine print that stated the ST logo was for illustrative purposes only and should be taken with a pinch of salt; or did I miss that? This is enough time wasted on this topic for me now.

We didnt make them put a badge on a car that cant life up to expectations... I am not anti-Ford (I currently own 2) and I am not anti-Edge (infact I am actually thinking of trading my Mustang on a 17 or 18 Edge Sport with the hope that it makes beautiful baby Edge Sports with my wife's 16 Sport...). I am just sad that the Ford marketing machine started getting involved in car design. Slapping an ST badge on the Edge is like all the publications are saying, Ford trying to tap into a market that doesnt exist. When I saw the first Ben Collins drive of the Edge sport the cat was out of the bag for me already. Again, just my opinion
-
So it seems like the journalists think the ST badge doesnt fit. Interesting.

My 2016 Sport is also an excellent daily. And it too is great in the twisties. So why now try to make it even more firm? If that is your thing, power to you man. Each to their own. This is just my opinion anyways. You are welcome to disagree, thats what the interwebz is for.... its become such a serious place

All the manufacturers (including Lincoln with the MKX) is at minimum giving buyers the option of adaptive suspension where it is not standard (heck, its even standard on the Fusion Sport..... If you want the permanent overly stiff ride, you buy the standard car, if you want to be able to dial it down, you get adaptive dampers. Why is Adaptive Dampers offered on the MKX but not the ST? Because they believe ST stands for "handling" and the way you make people believe its a great "handling" car, you make it very stiff or slap a nurburgring sticker on it.... The Edge Sport is already on the firm side for a SUV especially when riding on the optional 21's. The new Edge is 10% firmer. This is not rocket science.... I dont know about the roads in the rest of NA about up north in Edmonton, you cannot have a family SUV with sportscar suspension as a daily and a Edge is definitely not a weekend car.

Looking forward to your professional unbiased opinion. Welcome to the forum, great first post!

I have driven every ST since the first 2.0 Duratec ST Fiesta... But like you guys say, this one will probably be different LOL!
-
let me just clarify sucks - overly stiff for its purpose. This is true in the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS and now in the Edge ST. Ford will figure it out eventually. All the other manufacturers did, Ford just need to follow their own process to get to the same answer.
