  1. Lex, Same here, fully loaded limited. I will try it tomorrow, to make sure it does not mute. But I am pretty sure it does not.
  2. I have an 08 with Sync and Nav... my sound has NEVER lowered during backing. My previous 04 F-150 did indeed significantly lower the sound to play the backup beep. I also notice with the Edge unlike the F-150 the backup beeping sound seems to come from the back of the vehicle vs. my F-150 that emitted the sound through the Audiophile stereo system. Also note, my wife has an 07... no muting when backing either. Rayo
  3. Sounds easy enough and now that I think back, I already had that unit down before... t should only take a matter of moments to identify the pins needed to supply voltage. I would think we could find the correct power as the day/night mirror wiring also feeds from up there. I do believe the day/night functionality only works with headlights on. I can also verify voltages present when lights on vs. lights off. I already know from experience that the BAMR controls are not a good source for voltage as they are fed from a logic circuit of sorts. I tried to get power from the BAMR when I replaced my wife's mirror with a Homelink/Temp/DayNight mirror. I don't remember where I tapped for power to the mirror, I think I ended up running a wire down to the near the fuse panel and tapping a wire in one of the harnesses there. Hopefully I can pull it tomorrow and give you some definitive answers.
  4. Hey guys, I have just been skimming this thread and maybe you have already thought of this but... If the Moon Roof controls have illumination via LED or some other light type bulb, why not just check continuity on the Anode side of the LED or positive side of the bulb against all the pins you have to work with. Even if LED dropping voltage though a resistor circuit you should still see resistance vs. open circuit. Maybe you have already tried this. Also note... my edge does not have the BAMR but my wife's does (yes we have two). If the BAMR controls come down easily I would be happy to remove them to figure out what pins ultimately would feed voltage to the illumination. Rayo
  5. Trust me... pay to have it done. I purchased a Compass/Temp/Auto Dim mirror for my Wife's 2007 Edge. I read about how to remove it and even bought a special ford tool to unlock the tabs. Even with all that I still broke her windshield. So $325 for a mirror and another $250 for an insurance deductible, expensive mirror replacement project!!! Even after the mirror was off (broken off) I tried to get the tab off of it. With the tool and all, I still have yet to get that damn tab off. I gave up. The new windshield came with a tab already on it. Pay a glass shop or the Ford dealer to get that thing off for you. Rayo
  6. I have a Razr V3xx with Cingular... same problem. Multiple contacts for same Person don't specify whether the number is home, mobile, work etc. I also have a BlackBerry through my work. I have set it up with Sync. Same exact contact list (synced through DataPilot), when Synced with the Blackberry the contacts show multiple numbers for one contact properly ie. Home, Work, Mobile. It sure seems like it is a problem with Sync reading the tags properly. I have yet to find a solution. Ps. I have Nav. Rayo
  7. Gate, I also live in a snowy climate. The Silver is awesome. I don't have any scratches yet... but even with the snow and salt, it takes a lot to make it look dirty. My wife has an 07 in that deep purple color... hers shows dirt almost after just washing.
  8. Give us an update on what you think of the BrandMotion product. I am looking at one for my wifes 07 Edge and would love some feedback on the product. Rayo
  9. I have been using my Sync daily for almost 3 weeks now. I do NOT feel like I have to speak loudly or yell. People I have asked about how I sound comment that they can barely tell I am handsfree. The callers always sound fine to me. Nothing notable to complain about. Rayo ps. I had a post about a week back where I spoke quite a bit about the Sync.
  10. I just wanted to comment considering my 2008 has Sync and Nav. I have been using Sync now for almost a week. When I ordered it I was not sure how much it would actually get used. Voice quality, ease etc. was all a big question, I knew if callers complained about the way I sounded... I would never use it. I have a Motorola Razr V3xx with AT&T/Cingular. Here is what I have figured out so far: All my phone contacts show in Sync. Voice dialing works well and will prompt you if you have more then one number for a contact. Text messaging works well, and will read the message to you. There are a ton of "canned" responses to choose from, it WON'T let you tap out a response while driving, for safety. The phone seamlessly connects to Sync and disconnects when entering and exiting the vehicle. I have spent lots of time talking now via Sync, to folks on land lines and other cellular users. Everyone says I sound really good and can barely tell I am hands free. You have the option of Sync ringing with one of three built in lame ringers or ringing using your current ringtone on your phone, which will come over your speakers. I think I mentioned before in another post... if you have MP3s on your phone, stored in the proper file/directory format, the BlueTooth phone will be an option for one of your media sources. So yeah, you could play MP3s from your phone if you don't have an IPod or USB Memory Stick. Also at least with the NAV Audiophile unit, it remembers the volume level when switching to the phone from Sirius or FM etc. At least with my setup, I find I turn the phone volume near 50%-60% for normal conversation with the AC running. Normal audio at regular listening levels is maybe at 20%-25%. So when I get a phone call or place one, it will remember the last volume level I used with the phone. For as cheap as Sync is, I would not hesitate for a moment to equip a new vehicle with it. Ohh yeah, and it can have at least 6 pairing profiles (maybe more). Ya know, IPod, Phone, Wife's Phone etc. One last story. The second night I had the new Edge home my neighbor stopped by to check it out. It was in the garage. Our house has living space above the garage, namely our theater room where I had been before the neighbor stopped by. I had my Cell phone sitting on an ottoman upstairs. When he sat in the Edge he wanted to check out the Nav system. So I went and retrieved the keys, started it up and guess what??? Yup, it Sync'd with my cell phone upstairs in the house!!! LOL My car answered a call to my cell, with the phone 20 feet away and a whole layer of house in between! Rayo
  11. When you say Dash Tray, what exactly are you talking about?
  12. The actual tire size is: P245/50R 20
  13. I am in Nothern Indiana... picked mine up yesterday. Also came MUCH quicker then the original estimate.
  14. Ahhhh Good point, I did not even think of that. I could just plug the thumb drive into the USB port in the console. Hmmm looks like I need to pick up a thumb drive on the way home! :shades:
  15. Clayton, My 2004 F-150 was more Charcoal/Pewter-ish. I would consider the Vapor Silver to be much lighter. It had to be the light, because it definitely is a brighter silver color then a Pewter. You can really see the metallic flake! Yes... the interior, dash etc. it s darker charcoal almost black color. I can't say it enough... I love the interior package!!! I will look at the tires to get the size. But I like the Pirellis much better then the continentals on my wifes 2007 Edge. The tread pattern is much "sportier" as well. There is a little rubber button to push in the rear handle. I agree though with comments by others. The arrangement on our 2007 was not hard to use. And it is a cleaner, less mini-van of a look on the 2007. Yes... I ordered it back in July. It was the only 2008 they had gotten yet. Also... they mentioned a shortage on the 20" wheels for now. If they place an order... the system tells them the 20" wheels are unavailable or will cause delay etc. Rayo
  16. I don't have an IPod yet, but my BT phone can do MP3s. Although I don't have any on it But... I choose the Media, BT and Sync played the Ringtones off my phone. LOL I can easily see where adding an SD Memory card to my phone or getting an IPod would be a cool source for tunes, rather then all the CDs I carry around in my console. I could burn all the CDs to MP3s and have access to way more source then just 6 CDs. The fact that Sync opens my phone book, recent calls, missed calls, does MMS Texting, shows the roam status, signal strength, battery power. I really like it. This morning when I got in the car... as soon as I turned the key... Beep, Beep, it paired with my phone and away I went. Well worth the extra few $$$ Sync adds.
  17. Agreed... I took the front license plate holder off my F-150, I am going to see if it easily comes off the Edge.
  18. I lease. Other then X-Plan, I got 1,000 rebate.
  19. I ordered it with not having seen the Vapor Silver. I have to say, I am very, very pleased with the color. The metallic flake really seems to stand out. I saw a loaded Navigator on the lot, you can see it right out in front of my Edge. It was also Vapor Silver and I thought cool, my Edge looks just as good as that $55K Navigator! :shades:
  20. As promised here are the pictures of my new Edge. 2008 Vapor Silver Limited with Nav, Sync, Appearance Package, 20" Wheels, Rear Cargo Mgt. As some of you know my wife and I have had a 2007 SEL Edge since January. This will be our second Edge. We will have TWO! A couple of thing I have noticed driving it home from the dealer: The new rear handle is very nice. Easier then the 2007. The ride is a bit firmer, this could be a suspension tune change from ford... or due to the 20" wheels. I love the appearance package, well worth it!!! The red inserts and stitching is awesome. I paired my BT Phone with no problem to Sync. My contacts, previous calls, MP3s (on the phone) all became readily available. It was very cool. I made a number of calls and it sounded pretty good. Maybe not as good of phone sound quality as I hoped but totally usable. The callers on the other end made no negative comments about the sound. The NavTeq DVD is version 6p, this is the same version currently available from NavTeq's web site. The one turn key start thing is cool... Just give the key a slight twist and let go, the car will start itself. I wish they would have just done the fob and a button on the dash. They clearly have all the technology in place. The voice control does more then just Nav and Phone. I was able to tell it to do Audio System, CD, Disk 4... and it switch everything for me. Cool! O.k. so I know I said "Cool" a lot, but there is a lot of technology to like!
  21. I will take a bunch of pictures!!! Frankly I have always thought my wifes 2007 Edge had GREAT brakes. Note, we are long time Ford People. The short list: 1983 Mustang, 1986 Mustang, 1995 Explorer, 1985 F-150, 1997 Explorer, 1999 Expedition, 2002 Explorer, 2004 Explorer, 2004 F-150, 2007 Edge and now the 2008 Edge. Needless to say, I have always liked Ford Brakes. I found the 2007 Edge braking just as I had been used to if not a bit more responsive. Yeah maybe in an emergency the Edge may stop longer then others... but other then Auto Mags... who really tests that??? I do notice a bit of glare on the 2007, she has the light gray interior, but nothing bothersome at all. I have driven the 2007 quite a bit including a 3+ hour road trip. I think I should be able to form an opinion for comparison pretty quick. Will post back tomorrow evening with pictures and impressions. Rayo
  22. Well my dealer called today, my 2008 Edge is sitting there waiting to be prepped. We pick it up tomorrow evening. I will take pictures and post ASAP! :happy feet:
  23. Yes... I guess it might have been a bit sweet. I was thinking the same thing. Coolant would be the only thing clear I could think of. Brake fluid as well, but it did not taste like mineral oil or brake fluid. Maybe the coolant was a bit too full from the factory and has been expansion overflowing. Thanks, Rayo
  24. My wifes 2007 Edge AWD has been leaving a small amount of clear fluid on the garage floor. This is more near the front of the vehicle maybe right under or just behind the engine. Nope, it is not condensate from the AC... I have watched and the AC condensate drips towards the rear a bit more, and does evaporate after some time. The liquid is clear and marginally slick... it does not have a strong smell or taste (yeah I tasted it). I was thinking maybe brake fluid? Any ideas? It seems to be continuing at a very slow rate. I have some oil dry on the floor now and am going to look for new deposits in the oil dry to determine where it seems to be coming from. Suggestions would be appreciated. Rayo
