My wife and I purchased our Edge early November 2017. About a week before, my daughter and her husband purchased a new Toyota Highlander. And last week, my son and his wife bought a new Honda Pilot. The current issue of Consumer Reports lists all three gasoline versions tied with the same rating (the hybrid Highlander is one point higher). There are more seats in the others but you can't match the technology and luxury of the Edge. To each his own I guess.

Official Release of V3.0 for SYNC3 Has Begun
pintokid replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
My upgrade using a 32G USB drive worked fine. And I have noticed the new WIFI prompts as others have mentioned. That seems like a bug that I expect will be corrected in the next update. This update requires nowhere near 32G free. Maybe 2G for this update. -
I have a 10-year old Craftsman tractor and all the parts are still available. I also have a 1957 Craftsman radial arm saw (inherited) that is still in their parts system. Still, I do get your point. All that could change tomorrow.

Just saw a white one on the road today. Looks incredible.

Congrats! Hope my wife's can approach that.

Official Release of V3.0 for SYNC3 Has Begun
pintokid replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I downloaded the 3.0 update but I can't get the car to recognize the USB stick. I have formatted it every way I could think and nothing at all. I'll stop at the store and get a new one later. Funny, but the 2.3 update went on like a charm, but using a different USB stick. -
Intermittent phone connection
pintokid replied to TSCHANNE's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I've had other strange errors like this. Did you restart the phone? I'd do that first and then perhaps a Sync restart (from settings->general->master reset). -
Sony - Surround sound mode-Your settings?
pintokid replied to Chipster's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The Edge is my wife's car and she has one setting she uses all the time. Off Darn, the radio is ALWAYS on in my car. I have found that louder is better. Some satellite stations sound horrible unless you crank it. I use FM, Satellite, CD and USB. Great to have choices. Oh, and it is fun to pick up AM radio from NYC once in a while, 550 miles away. Someday I'll get the Edge all by myself and use a volume where I can really answer this thread. -
Will Sync3 Update Include Updated Maps?
pintokid replied to pintokid's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
AACK. Then they will probably want $150 for the update when they finally have one. Sheesh. -
I downloaded the Sync3 2.3 update and I'll install it later. Will this update include maps updates? The current maps on our 2017 are missing a new road that opened almost 2 years ago. Sync is nowhere near as annoying as our old Tom-Tom when it finds you driving through the woods, but still I expected the maps to include this rather major road (US 70 Goldsboro Bypass in NC).

Try the Ford site again. I couldn't get it to work yesterday, but today I downloaded the 2.3 update. They said you need a USB drive with 32G free, but the update only needs 1.6G. I'm waiting for the car to get back home to perform the update. Does it reset all your settings? They do let you know that your phones need to be re-paired. AACK.

Great photos (and nice dogs) Chipster and Brucifer!

I was not familiar with Burkina Faso, but I wondered why anyone would be UNHAPPY about hot air. Here on the east coast of the USA, blowing hot air is exactly what I want, and it can't get warm fast enough. OP: good luck with the battery disconnect. You might want to short the positive cable (NOT the battery) to ground (car frame) too.

Thanks for the details.

Cargo area with no light, lamp or LED?
pintokid replied to clefranc's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Thanks for the reply. I will brave installing using the existing light wiring and add photos. I'm just hesitant with 1) A brand new car and 2) not knowing how the panels are secured. Maybe during the Christmas holidays. -
Cargo area with no light, lamp or LED?
pintokid replied to clefranc's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Let me second the request for more info. A few days ago I needed to unload and load in the dark, and as soon as something is loaded on the right that darned little light is completely blocked. I'd like to wire something like this, but if someone has info on how to remove the trim panels it would certainly help. Even just a picture of the trim retainers with the panel off would be great. -
We just traded in our 2012 Escape that had a 1 1/4 hitch receiver to an Edge with a 2" receiver. I kept the 1 1/4 hitch and two balls hoping I could use them on the Edge. But options look limited. I've seen adapters but none available in a store here. I don't regularly need the hitch. For my Boy Scouting groups the 1 1/4 hitch was more than adequate. Should I keep looking for an adapter, or just grin and bear it and get all new 2" hardware?

Don't know when Ford upgraded that feature, but our 2012 Escape had straight lines too. Our new 2017 Edge has the feature you are looking for. Just another reason to upgrade.

So how much lift is enough? I've seen jacks with 19-20". Will those work?

The Edge is my wife's car. And I am ashamed to say, but every time I start up her car (including our previous Escape) the sound system is off. Yes off! It has AM, FM, satellite, CD, and USB, and the sound system is off. Sheesh. Sirius Classic Rewind 25 is where you'd usually find me, but Watercolors 66 keeps me driving more sane.

Thanks all for the opener programming advice. Just completed it with no issues at all. Took 2 minutes.

This is really my wife's car, but she purchased it on my recommendation. It replaces a 2012 Escape. Looks like this is the place to be to ask questions but for now it is too new and too sweet. I've been reading the manual and alternately walking into the garage and giving things a try. I have not yet set up the garage door opener (Linear), and the Escape required a call to Ford support. This looks to be a different device (HomeLink) so I can't use the procedure they gave me years ago. Hopefully it will be easier this time.
