Thanks for the VIN research Wubster100. So, if the vehicle doesn't have a factory tow package, and the only driver is a former dealer employee, I'd like to assume that it's likely that this vehicle hasn't been used for towing, but who knows, I know. Thanks again everybody.

When I read all of the above, ...I feel like I would be driving a spaceship LOL. Thanks a lot Wubster100 (seriously). But my son doesn't understand why I want "that" car.

Insert for compartment located on console
Edgingage replied to Keith1341's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
The 2019 I'm looking to buy has the cupholder insert but doesn't have the hood insulator blanket. I found that VERY cheapy from Ford. If the deal come through I'll have to order a blanket for the hood and maybe also for the engine, doesn't have any either. Do you know if the hood insulator blanket can be ordered from somewhere? I don't like to see all those wires and connexions sposed on the engine. Maybe I got spoiled with my 2011 SEL, most wires and connexions are covered. -
Tail Light Moisture Condensation 2019-2024
Edgingage replied to Wubster100's topic in 2019-Current Edge & Nautilius
Hi Will2U, could you please mind to post a couple of pictures showing the location where the factory holes were drilled? TIA -
Also, on a slightly different but related subject: this vehicle is an AWD. It also has the Traction Control System or TCS button to be turned on or off (please see picture). Now, my 2011 SEL is a FWD only and it also has the TCS feacture, which I understand it helps in the drivability of the FWD on slippery roads. My questions related to the 2019 Titanium are: - Does the TCS button turns on and off the AWD in the 2019 Titanium? - If not, what does the TCS do in an AWD vehicle, how does the TCS help in the AWD vehicle? I know this question has nothing to do with my decision to purchase the vehicle or not, I'm just curious. TIA

Wubster100, thanks for your instructions and help. I've been playing around with the cluster and I can't find the way to the Message Center. In my 2011 Edge is very easy to find, straight down, but not in this one. EDIT: I also red the manual from page 103 (Information Display Control Type 2) all the way to page 123 paying attention to page 114 (Electronic Stability Control) and couldn't find where the lowing package info could be. (END OF EDIT) I'm going to PM you the VIN but please let me know anyway the path to find/get to the Messenge Center. I took different pictures of the cluster panel menus, if you see under which menu it should be please let me know. Thanks Wubster100 and everyone.

Thanks a lot Wubster100 and everyone for your explanation, clarification and suggestions. I'll definitively ask for everything suggested. They did tell me that they'll do everything the car needs before handle it to me, but it's very good for me to know what needs to be done, thanks again. They didn't provide the service report today because the service dept wasn't opened. They told they'll give it to me on Monday. I kept the car for the weekend after paying a refundable bounty Lol. I checked the cluster and I want to share a few screenshots with you. In one of the it's showing "Automatic System Update"option deselected. I wonder if the vehicle may have the capability to receive updates OTA? Also I'll share some pictures of its rear end showing the towing hitch and the exhaust tips. I can see a double lip in the exhaust tips as if they put a chrome shirt on top of the exhaust tip. My 2011 has just the chrome tips, it's a cleaner appearance in my opinion. I still don't know if the towing hitch is aftermarket or original (see picture at the bottom), I have to keep working on that. Thanks a lot for all your great help.

Hi folks: I took the 2019 Titanium for a test drive this evening. From what I can test it's running ok. I drove it a low speed (just below 60 Km/h) and I couldn't notice hesitation. I did notice a little bit of tremor when driving at around 30 km/h, but... hard for me to say if that's normal or not. It was not a good day to test it at high speed, it was a snowy day and the road was very wet. I just did a brief take off on a green light and... it was good, very good lol. I found the side sensors a little bit annoying because when the road snow stick to them they beep and the sales rep told me they can't be silenced, bummer. The sales rep didn't know if the tow hitch was after market or not lol. He pulled the window sticker and the trailer towing package is not listed there. I asked him for the service report, they didn't want to provide it to me because it has personal info but the sales manager read it over for me. I then asked him to print it out and black out the personla info. He told he'll do so. Meanwhile folks, I stlll need youjr help getting into the "fine prints": - if the reprogramming of the transmition hasn't been done, questions: - how do I make them to do it? - does anyone know how much it costs for them to do it? - is that something that happenes to all Edge 8F35, to most Edge 8F35, to some Edge 8F35? - does is get worse if not corrected? Not sure if I'm asking the correct questions. Basically, what resources do I have to make them reprogram the transmition? And this is probably the only discrepancy I have with Ford, they barely do recalls, even knowing that they have a problem Huston lol. Thanks in advance once again for all your help. PS: STBEAST, if that's yours, nice ST beast! lol

Oh, good to know (I didn't). I'm going to ask the dealer as I know nothing about that. So, from your comments Wubster100 I can assume that if there's no wiring then it hasn't been used for towing. Thanks again Wubster100, I do appreciate yours and everyone's comments.

Thanks for the detailed pictures Wubster100, and very nice car color, congrats! I'll definitely have to ask the dealer what's going on with that anachronic bumper on the 2021 SEL they're selling lol. ThIs one also has a tow hitch, probably aftermarket as well, which concerns me a little bit as a used car because I've read that towing could be hard on the engine/transmition. Let's see. Thanks everyone.
-
Aha..., that's why it looks weird, because that bumper shouldn't be the one lol. OK, I'm going to ask them for a service report on that vehicle, thanks dabangsta, that bumper has four sensors for the reverse parking. BTW, the one shown in your picture looks like the passenger side is a little disengaged, or at least misaligned. Maybe those rear bumpers are problematic?..

Folks, first of all thanks again for all your input, it's really greatly appreciated. Tomorrow (Friday) afternoon I got an appointment to test drive the 2019 Edge pictured above. I'm not sure if I understood correctly your comments regarding the 7-8 speed and the reprograming/correction thing. In other words: - how do I know if that "issue" has been already corrected "reprogrammed" in that vehicle? - is there any recommendation on how/what to try to test if the 2nd-3rd gear shifting hasn't been corrected in this vehicle yet? Also, I'm planning to test drive the 2021 SEL on Saturday morning. Although it does have the big screen that everyone likes with the updated SYNC IV, there's something really ticking me off that vehicle: the tail end (no exhaust chrome tips?!). Ugly LOL, like not being original part from that vehicle LOL. The bumper has the shape/mold to accomodate the exhaust tips, but no tips; weird. See picture below. Thanks folks.

LOL, I know what you mean with those nonsensival ads LOL: power steering. Yah, right, try to turn the wheel without power LOL. Thank you dabangsta for the info. Yes, it's an AWD. I could get standard Edge 18 wheels but my understanding is that they cannot be from the 201-14 Edge (what I currently have) because the 2011-14 Edge rim bolt pattern is 5x114.3 mm and I think this model Edge takes 5x108 mm. So, I'll have to buy another set. I'm talking as if I already own that vehicle LOL, I haven't bought it yet! lol. But it's looking good. Let's see if I can get a discount on the price, that's usually the point where everything fells apart... Thanks again dabangsta and others for the info and comments, appreciated.

Thanks a lot STBEAST, good info shared. One of the three Edge I have narrowed it down it's a 2019 and in part it reads the following: Performance Power Steering Limited Slip Differential Automatic Transmission - 8 Speed Performance Tires Dual Shift Mode Transmission So, it reads 8-speed transmision (not 7-speed). I don't know if that's the same you mentioned or something else differently. Also, it reads that it comes with "Performance Tires", but I'm not sure if that means "brake and tire package". But here in Canada it's very common to get a second set of wheels as a winter set, either negotiated in the purchase value, or purchased separately off the market. Now, I can't see the rim size in the picture below, and I don't know yet if this vehicle allows for different rim sizes as the 2011-2014 do (from 17" to 20", and 22" for the Sport). Edit: I just checked and it seems this model can take from 18" to 21" rims. There're a couple of other things that I'm not familiar with, I don't know what they mean: - Limited slip differential - Dual shift mode transmition As this's a 2019 model, as you STBEAST very well said the big screen it's not in this model yet, although that's definitiveley very nice to have that's not in my must-have wish list. Thank you STBEAST and everyone else for all info and clarification you can provide.

Oh, I see, the moderator got stuck updating the server for this fora in 2022... I hope nothing wrong had happened to Robert personally. It's too bad, definitively this is a great forum, it has been VERY valuable to me and my 2011 Edge so far and keep going. I'm just browsing around looking at the possibility to update my 2011 Edge SEL, trying to find out if there is any big cons for a particular year Edge trim. I'm not looking at a specific year in particular but rather at a year range models, 2019-2021 Edge/Nautilus available in my area at around $20K+ (Canadian). A couple of "most have" in my wish list are: - pano roof (Canadian summer is great!) - heated steering wheel (Canadian winter sucks lol) - and maybe the AWD (I've never driven one but everybody says it's great for Canadian winters) Thank you all for your prompt response folks, apprecicated.

Ford Edge Forum: WHAT HAPPENED?

Sorry, posted by error in the wrong forum. Deleted. -
This is probably a stupid question, but I see 2021-24 Edge rolling around, why isn't in here a subforum for 2021+ Edge? What don't I know, please? I'm looking around to purchase a pre-owned 2021 Edge SEL and I came here to get some info about it. Where is it? Sorry and thanks.

Rear window not defogging/defrosting
Edgingage replied to Edgingage's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Hi folks: I posted this post over a month ago but I haven't received any comments, I don't know if I posted in the wrong forum. If so, mods please move it to an appropriate forum. Meanwhile I'm gong to clarify something, just in case I used the wrong description: The problem is on the trunk/cargo lid window, that window is not defrosting when I press the defrost button, the mirrors heat up but not the trunk/cargo lid window. Please let me know where I should troubleshoot to resolve that issue. Many thanks in advance. -
Rear window not defogging/defrosting
Edgingage posted a topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Hello folks, 2011 Edge FWD 3.5L engine here: I've been trying to fix this problem with no luck. Since a few weeks ago (outside temp still above 0 C / 32 F) I noticed that my rear window was getting fogged. Upon pressing the button to activate the rear window defroster nothing happened on the rear window, it remained fogged. This button also activates the heated mirrors, which do heat up. Because the mirrors heat up after I press the rear defrost button, I think there shouldn't be a problem with the relay in location # 11 (rear window defroster / heated mirror relay). I checked and replaced anyway the fuse in location # 26 (rear window defroster). Still no heat coming on the rear window. I don't know where else to look/check. Please help me fix this problem. Here in Canada, because the extreme and sudden difference in temp between the outside and the inside, windows get fogged very often. Also, the rear window gets ice and/or snow that makes the window fogging inside often as well. Thanks in advance for any help, hints and/or directions for me to go check. PS: I posted here but I wasn't sure if this is the right forum. Mods, please feel free to move it to a more suitable forum. Thanks. -
Lost brake while driving; scary, concerning.
Edgingage replied to Edgingage's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Haz, wow!, BIG thank you for all the detailed info you have provided above. Lots of things and steps to check and go through. I'm in big trouble. Let's see how we can navigate through those things. The worse part is that, whatever problem I had is an intermittent problem; and that's a huge problem because: 1) I haven't been able to reproduce it again; 2) if the shop can't reproduce the problem how can I make sure whatever they've done actually solved the problem? (if you know what I mean). Unless a specific problem is found, even if I do all the checks and balances (i.e., if I do most of the things listed above), I won't be 100% certain that the problem won't reoccur in the middle of the highway next time, unless the culprit is found & fixed. Sad days are coming for my Edge (or myself ;)) Thank you Haz; thanks again.- 4 replies

Hi folks, 2011 Edge SEL here (205,000 km; ~127,000 miles): I posted in general Brakes, Chassis & Suspension but I'm afraid this problem might be more common or specific to the 2011 Edge/MKX; that's why I'm posting here. I just had a very scary event this morning: while driving in the city (TG!), approaching the lights my brake pedal went to the floor with no much brake action other than deacceleration. As I was very close to home (TG again!) I kept going very slowly (with my emergency lights on), and once in a while I was "testing" (pushing) the brake pedal with the same result: very little resistance to stop the vehicle. I managed to get home without an accident. Once in my parking lot, I drove the vehicle back and forth (slowly) with the same result: brake pedal to the metal and no real break action, very little, if any. I shut it off and called the dealer to explain the situation: they told me "you could probably not drive the car here", I said "yes, it's just a couple of Km away". I drove it to the dealer; however, in my way to the dealer the brakes were working properly, I tried to reproduce the same thing (pressing the brake pedal at different intervals, speeds and pressure) and the brakes always worked as normal. Hum, I told the dealer, now I have two problems: what about if you guys can't reproduce the failure I just had today. And of course, I'm not confident to keep driving this vehicle without finding out what went wrong. The dealer gave me an appointment for two days from now for they to "'check things around..." As a background info, the brake booster was replaced about three years ago. At the time what happened was the other way around: I had to literally step on the brake pedal to put enough pressure to stop the car even while driving slowly. This time there was no resistance from the pedal. So, my questions to you folks: - anybody with a similar experience? - if the brake booster was replaced three years ago, could it be gone so soon again? - where should be the first place/part to look at? This question is very important as the dealer didn't know where to start looking and I'm afraid they my charge me $200+ just for looking/trying (and not finding the problem). And yes, I did check for break fluid leak and level: no fluid leaks; all fluid levels checked OK. I'm lost; don't know where to look or what else to do. Please help. Thank you folks. Chris.

Well, in mine it's fairly effortless both ways. Once I release the safety latch I can use one hand to start lifting it up, the struts kick in at about 1 foot height (measured). Pretty much the same to close it down, I use one hand to push it down, and when it gets at around a foot height it actually shuts completely down itself by the same motion and weight coming down. Opening up, it slows down nicely at the end of its way up but it doesn't in its way down, it keeps constant motion coming down and no resistance from the struts in its last foot to close freely. That first foot high to open or close has no strut force or resistance. It's a beauty in action, that's why I wrote above "recommended", I should have written (to Ford) "highly recommended" lol. I made, however, a very slight variation regarding the mounting brackets position on the hood: I moved the mounting location on the hood 3/4" down (towards the rear end); that allows the hood to open up a little bit higher (maybe 1-2" higher) in its highest point (full open). Everything else was done as per Redline Tuning instructions freshly revised at the time after a correction I suggested in the instructions for the 2011-14 Edge. Go for
