  1. I have 17 inch wheels and the chains do not fit on the rear of the car. There is only enough clearance on the front.
  2. We have the Weathertech Liners in the front. We use the car to go skiing. They work great to collect the snow and mud from the parking lot. Very happy with the product. There are only 2 of us so skipped putting them in the back.
  3. I am surprised if the sensor were not there that they did not say anything when they mounted the tires. Did the rim still have the steel bands and clips for the sensors? I got my sensors and the tool off of Ebay. You might get the tool and see it if will reset the computer. Maybe the sensors are there and just need to be reset. When I installed the winter rims and tires, the tire shop reset the sensors but it went out after about 15 miles. When I got home I moved the summer tires to another building and reset the sensors and they worked fine for the rest of the winter.
  4. I have never driven a Subaru but I love the AWD system in the Edge. I have had 4 wheel drive/AWD cars for the last 25 years. This is by far the best system I have had. The system has very little slip. Last winter we got more snow in the lowlands then usual and it stayed long then a typical winter. I got to play in the snow. Between the AWD, traction control and Stability Control the car just goes. I can start the car on hill and just floor it. The car just goes, the TC light flickered and before you realize it you are going 25 mph and it is up shifting. We drive in the mountains on the weekend quite a bit so we spend the money to snow tires and that will also make a difference.
  5. I went through this last year. I got a set of 17” factory take off rims, TPMS and the TPMS reset tool from Ebay. It worked out very good. The rims had the sensor bands already installed and the sensors snapped in. I took the rims with sensors to Costco and had them mounted. The only problem was the tire pressure light came on, on the way home and needed to be rest. It may have been confused since the old tires and rims were in the car. I took the tires out of the car and reset the TPMS and it was fine. The reset tool is easy to use. If you have to put chains (cable) on the car they only fit on the front. I know as I tried to put them on the back and they interfered with the suspension.
  6. The snow tires are mounted on different factory wheels with factor sensors. When the snow tires were installed they did require recalibration which I did to turn the light off. After changing the tire I move the snow tire to a different building to separate the snow tire sensor from the winter sensors. The pressure for summer and winter tire is the same.
  7. I removed the snow tires on Sunday. I expected to have to reset the TMPS for the summer tires. After changing the tires I drove the car 10 miles to wake up the sensors, but the TPMS light on the dash never came on. The car has been driven more and the light still has not come on.
  8. I had the same thought. I placed a piece of electrical tape over the sensor in the middle of the dash. It works just fine. Lights come on when I start the car. :yup:
  9. Does any one know how to replace the rear window wiper? How do you take the wiper arm off the car? How is the wiper removed from the arm? Mine needs to be replace and I don't want to break it getting it off.
  10. NO, it means that you put 3 less miles on then indicated. Drive at 60 mph indicated for a hour and only go 57 miles.
  11. The Washington State Patrol does give tickets if the "chains required" sign is up and you don't have chains that fit. My sister got one. The chains didn't fit. The spend 30 minutes trying to get them on and weren't able to. They sent her back down the pass. I carry chain when I am in the mountains, they are cheeper that a ticket. I also verify they fit when I get them. I have also seen WSP turn cars around at the bottom of the Crystal Mountain ski area access road if cars don't have the proper snow tires or chain on when the turn up road. I have also got stuck twice in a 4X4 where I had to put chains on to get out. The worst case was when it rain on 6 inches of fresh snow. Pulled in to the parking lot and as soon as I got the car parked it drop about 6 inches through the ice crust. Spent the next hour digging trying to get the car unstuck. Finally gave up an put chains on and drove it out. Moral of story: Just because you drive a 4X4 or AWD don't be too proud to put chains on. I could have been in a nice warm lodge instead of digging in freezing weather.
  12. I found that out when I test fitted the chain when I got them. I put them on the back while in the garage. I notice that they will not fit. I check out the front and it looked fine. We have had snow and ice here for the last week. We have 17 inch Michelin ICE-X tire for our winter tires. This car handles awesome in the ice and snow. I have played with it on the snow and ice. This car just wants to go. You have to work very hard to get the traction control light to come on.
  13. Check out Ebay. I picked up a set of stock 10 spoke wheels last month from them for snow tires. They had the clips and bands but no TPMS sensors. I also got the sensors from Ebay.
  14. I need to set up my Edge to carry kayaks. Has any one used the Yakima LowRider? Or should I be using the LowRider Max. Are you happy with the way they worked? Thank Frank
  15. We just had the low fuel light come on at about 50 mile to E. The next day wife went to get gas. She reset the low fuel light before she left. It had drop from 50 miles to about 20 and she had only drive a couple of miles. When the tank was filled it took 18 gallons in the 20 gallon tank.
  16. That is my thought. I have more cars that are correct then are off. I have 6 cars, four cars are right on and 2 are off. My 89 Ford PU with a analog speedometer is more accurate then the Edge.
  17. We just got a 07 Edge SEL AWD a couple of week ago. After driving it for a while, I though the speedometer was off so I checked it against a GPS. The speedometer reads 5% fast. At 60 indicated the car is going 57 by the GPS. Any one else have this problem? Can FORD calibrate it? Frank
  18. The TPMS adds a new twist to the having a separate set of wheels and tires. The last set we got from Tire Rack, but they want $400 to add the TPMS. We have the factory 17 inch wheels on our Edge. I went to Ebay and got a set of stock take off wheels with the bands and mounting clips for less then Tire Rack wanted for wheels alone. Ebay also has the TPMS sensors. You can buy a set sensors for less than $100. Costco has the Michelin Latitude X-Ice for $15 more then Tire Rack, but you don't pay shipping so it a wash on price. Are you ever going to need use cable chains? The owner manual only recommends using them on the 17 inch wheels. In the last 20 years I have had to put chains on twice to get out of the parking lot after it snowed. Hope I never have to use them but want to be prepared.
  19. Has any one used an aftermarket locking gas cap? Did you have any problems with it? The factory locking gas cap is like $50 and that seems high.
