  1. I usually reset my MPG right after I fill up. I actually TRY not to watch it. I usually will calculate it myself every based on miles per tank and how much gas I purchase to see if the MPG computer is accurate. Bill
  2. Well, that's good information to know... That does suck either way... Another factor in poor gas mileage this time of year is letting your car warm up. I have an automatic starter and even if I only let it run for 5 minutes before I leave in the morning my mileage drops 1-2 MPG and sometimes more.
  3. I think if you searched a little bit you would see many people complaining about their mileage getting worst. It seems more common than it should. In fact I have two coworkers who own Edge's and like me, they love it but are bitching about the gas mileage getting worst. I'm going to take mine in to see if there is anything they can do such as resetting the computer.
  4. Actually, I've lighted up on the gas MONTHS ago and my mileage is getting worst. That's good that your getting 21mpg but MOST of us are not and have NEVER got that kind of gas mileage.
  5. That's what I'm getting at. I got better gas mileage before it broke in and city mileage is becoming a joke. I don't call this a crossover any longer I call this an Explorer w/ slightly better gas mileage. It is more fun though.
  6. I agree... However you can't deny that the Ford Edge isn't getting the kind of gas mileage they are telling us we can.
  7. To be honest w/ you I think the MPG is getting worst. I'm thinking of calling Ford and discussing the shitty mileage. Seriously, when I drove about 240 Miles one way I did get near 26-27 MPG w/ 3000-4000 miles on the vehicle. When I drove a similar trip I never got to 23 MPG and I had over 7000+ Miles on the car. I just don't get it. We have a Dodge Grand Caravan w/ about 2000 Miles on it and we are getting 18-20 City and the car isn't even broken in. I know we aren't comparing apples to apples but shit, at least the carvan holds 7 people and hauls an arcade game in the back. Bill
  8. I have a couple of small issues w/ the 2nd row of the edge... There is almost TOO MUCH ROOM... Why? Because the tailgate is very thick and compromises the storage space. I think they could of easily moved the 2nd row forward about 6 inches and still gave people more leg room than the Explorer. I usually lease my vehicles and the Taurus X (Freestyle) didn't lease good ($50-$75+ more a month). Actually, my wife needed a new vehicle to replace her Jetta due to us having a second child in December. I looked at the Taurus X again, and $425+ a month with X-Plan pricing. YIKES. Now, the Pacifica wasn't really much better and we didn't like it as much as the Taurus X. In the end, we ended up leasing a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan for around $280 / month w/ nothing down when we picked it up. We really didn't want a minivan but after we drove it she liked it. The when she saw the lease payment she loved it. We both agree that the Caravan isn't as nice as the edge but it's a very nice vehicle that works for us. If I had known we would end up w/ a Minivan 8 months after I leased the Edge I probably would of leased a Fusion or a G6. However, I still don't regret getting my edge. I sure hope the Ford Flex is a good replacement for the Ford Freestar. Bill
  9. I was reading up on the Dodge Journey and wished Ford offered the edge w/ a third row. See, I lease my vehicles and my rep kept telling me to look at the Freestyle (Taurus X) if I wanted more seating. What she didn't get is that the Freestyle has bad residual (so does the Pacifica) and it least well over $75+ more a month when I picked up my Ford Edge in January. Not to mention, the Edge overall looks are much better than the Freestyle in my opinion. What is interesting is that Mazda CX-7 has a 3rd row option but the Edge doesn't. Now I see that Dodge is introducing the new Journey and will have a 3rd row... Go figure... Not as nice looking as the Edge (to me at least) but not a bad looking vehicle either. Ok Ford, can we please get a 3rd row now? http://car-reviews.automobile.com/news/dod...crossover/3141/ Actually, my wife's Jetta has to be turned in this September and seeing we will be having our second child in December we went to look at the Taurus X. However, the Taurus X lease was still way out of line we ended up picking up a Dodge Grand Caravan w/ Stow and Go seating at over $150 less a month... THAT IS NOT A TYPO... We didn't get loyalty cash so we aren't talking about a $199 / month lease but it's still under $290... We didn't want a Minivan but so far we love it. When my Edge is ready to be turned in we will most likely not be replacing it w/ another Edge because we now have the Minivan. But there is a chance we "MAY" end up getting a Crossover w/ a 3rd row instead. They both need to be turned in around the same time so we can come up w/ a good plan to have a larger vehicle as the family vehicle w/ decent millage and a sedan for me to get to and from work (Possibly a Fusion)... But, that is over 2 years away. I love my Edge but sure wished I had the 3rd row so we wouldn't of had to buy a larger vehicle. Bill
  10. Ok, I just put 220 miles on my vehicle in about 3-1/2 hours and got about 25.5 MPG @ around 55 MPH... I filled it up before I headed home from vacation and this was 95% highway... On Friday, I had 3/4 of a tank, I reset the MPG when I left the driveway and got 26 MPG @ around 50-55 MPH. Very happy... However, I'll be back to city driving tomorrow so we'll be back to 18 MPG... No big deal but at least I'm getting what they told me I should be getting. Bill
  11. My Edge drifts to the right... They fixed it for about 24 hour... Then I took it back w/ a TSB and within a day it came back... I'm calling again Thursday to bitch a little bit. Bill
  12. I have about 4200 miles on my Edge SEL FWD... This week I'm averaging about 18.7 MPG which isn't horrible. Mostly city but did a decent amount of freeway this past weekend. Bill
  13. A coworker here bought a SEL Plus. She fell in love w/ the MKX but it was out of her price range. She had been w/ GM for 15+ years and decided to move over to Ford. SHE HATES THE SEATS AND HEAD REST. She said this will be the last car she buys without trying one for a day or two. She has a touchy back and neck and has horrible pain. She sits w/ her seat as a 90 degree position because that's how she likes to sit. Ford flipped the headrest around which kind of helped. She ordered a seat pad w/ a 30 Day MBG and hopes this helps. Try flipping around the head rest. I love my seats... Best seats I've ever owned from Ford... However, I sit with the seat tilted back slightly.... Bill
  14. You order drinks from your edge? HOW COULD YOU? I find it funny is that I avoid buying drinks in my car at all cost. I always have. People who con me into picking up lunch from them while I'm out have always got pissed at me when I refuse to get them a value meal w/a drink. I did that once in my 1999 Mustang (or was it my 2002 Mustang GT) and lost the "LARGE" drink all over my carpet of my brand new car. NEVER AGAIN. Back you your problem. I agree. The door cup holder are great. Especially to keep an extra bottle of water. Obviously, you mentioned it holds LARGE DRINKS. Wonder why they didn't put a removable rubber piece on the bottom. Bill
  15. I just think Ford needs to make the dash ALL Dark Brown or Dark Stone depending on your interior colors. Making the dash a little more "SATIN" would help as well. I personally think it's a "slight" safety issue and if they have corrected the glare on the newer builds then they have "admitted" it was a problem. So, if they have "admitted" it is a problem then they should offer up the fix on the early builds. It's just a slight annoyance to me and something I will just ignore. However, I sure hope Ford acknowledges this and fixes it on the future builds. Bill
