Problems after front bumper removal
Mikula replied to Mikula's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
i took off the driver side headlight to look for something i didn't hook up, and found this. but can't seem to find a place to stick it! It appears it is attached to a harness that runs across the front bumper area.. if that helps anyone identify it? -
Problems after front bumper removal
Mikula replied to Mikula's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
oh also my temperature says its -40 degrees -
It's gotta be something simple... After removing the front bumper paint the grill and emblems, i put it all back together and now 2 things... remote start doesn't work (car just beeps once as if i hit the lock button 2x) and I have a check engine light when i start the car manually. i suppose i may have to take it to an auto parts place and see what the code is, but before i start pulling the bumper back off, any ideas? how many electrical connectors are there on the bumper when you disconnect them? I thought there were only 3... maybe there is a 4th that i didn't plug back in?

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Mikula replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I turned her into an ST today. hopefully it adds 15 horsepower and 5k to resale. Also painted the front emblem, added my bullet casing license plate bolts, and plasti-dipped the grill flat black. -
Not sure if you're going for looks or just paint chip protection but the clear protective film they use nowadays is pretty amazing stuff. A lot of tint shops install the stuff and you can't even see its there. I think its a 3m scotchguard product. Not sure if that helps you out at all

Do you have anyone in your area that can tune such a monster? Not sure what they consider the ford edge. SUV? CUV? from now on, on these forums, its called a RaceUV I'll start making the t-shirts for everyone tomorrow!

Front grill emblem, how many pieces?
Mikula replied to Mikula's topic in Accessories & Modifications
For those wondering, it is in fact 3 pieces. A thank you to whoever the guy is at the f150 forum that did this. https://www.f150forum.com/f2/how-painted-oval-emblems-new-3d-style-286212/ My bumper is now off to wrap the grille, paint the emblem, and put my bullet casings in place to cover the license plate holes in front (another thread) -

I've moved my questions over to the AWD threads and posted a video of what I'm experiencing. didn't want to muck up this thread with my non related questions! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24093-how-does-your-awd-work/ -
After posting a few questions on here, I'm wondering if anyone has an AWD that doesn't seem to be AWD. Maybe i'm just being picky, but with traction control off and footbraking, my front tires will spin and my rears are just along for the ride. Not a great video, but this was taken on my wifes iphone which has a "slow motion" thing so I can slow it down and view it. I assure you the fronts are spinning and the rears are not. whether or not they have any power has yet to be determined.

If you are like me, and have holes in your front bumper where a license plate bracket used to be, I have come up with a solution for anyone interested. I'm an avid shooter/reloader, and I have some spent brass that has seen the end of its days. I thought of buying some of those spikes or something to fill the holes, but thought it would be neat to use a "bullet" idea. Anyway, I used a lathe to part a spent .338 lapua casing, and it just so happens that a 1/4" x 20 nut fits in there perfectly. By putting a short bolt through the backside, this threads right on and covers those ugly holes in the front bumper. anyone interested in getting a set for themselves PM me and I'll get you a set!

Webasto Edge - Carbon Fiber Engine Cover and Radiator Cover
Mikula replied to roots57's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I'm sure you can pull the engine cover off and wrap it yourself, or would the temps be too high under there? -
Does the front radiator grill emblem on a 2016 come apart? I only had mine off for a second and didn't really check it out before reinstalling it. I'm wanting to take it off and paint it and I've seen some that are 3 separate pieces (the background, the oval, the letters) I'm pretty sure that is the case here, because it has more of a 3d look to it than the old style ford oval emblems.

It would seem to be the same (just less spinning), but no video proof to confirm. It will torque steer a bit then pull hard, whereas the footbrake will just roast them. I'm wondering if it is something in the tune from livernois that may cause this. though again, the dash says that it is distributing power to both front and rear. -

It definitely shows a distribution of power to the rear and fronts, however if i footbrake to 3k and punch it, it's only the front tires that spin while the rears don't do a damn thing. admittedly I have not watched the dash while doing this test, but the video my wife took of my launch showed all I needed to know. fronts spin, rears do not. with THAT being said, I could believe that the launch is causing the rear to squat a bit and not spin, while the front lifts up some and causes the fronts to spin. like duane pointed out, it isn't symmetrical awd. I just want more out of something considered AWD, even if I am alone in interpreting AWD to mean something different than what it actually means -
I'm bringing this one back up, because after messing around with some intake options, i got side tracked and started messing with the front emblem. It CAN be removed without taking the whole bumper off. but you must be careful, and its definitely tight. took about 20 minutes to get the 2 nuts off the back of the emblem, but it can be done. With the hood open, you have to take the top plastic piece off the top of the grill (just a bunch of push pins) and then remove the 6 bolts from the top of the grill. this will allow you to pry the grill forward enough to get a hand, a ratchet and a 10mm deep socket, and it will come off, albeit 2 or 3 clicks of the ratchet at a time. I had one hand slipped in from the top, and one in between the grill so I didn't lose any hardware in the process. problem is, I don't have an emblem to replace the one I just took off. I was just so thrilled that I didn't have to take the bumper off that I kept going. Dummy...

Hell, mine doesn't do squat then. This thing burns the front tires off while the rears just sit there being dragged along. I wouldn't consider this AWD if Ford paid me to say it! I'm sure a ford guy will come in here and say awd means blah blah blah but to me, AWD means 4wd, because dammit thats how I want it to work! -
I wanted the white one. Good choice!
