Why anyone lives there is beyond me. Can you even fart in Cali or is that not smog legal?

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Mikula replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
It's 2018, it could be a him lol -
I agree it should be simple. compared to some of the european crap i've worked on and dealt with throughout the years. 6 bolts is not a difficult task. but yes, wood under the pan. Jacked to every position from not touching, to the body beginning to lift (which is obviously not good for the plastic oil pan on these). Can we go back to the days of big block/small block and a carb yet? ok, ok maybe not that extreme. of course the rains rolled in today, so I'm unable to mess with it until tomorrow.

We've basically listed all available mods for the edge sport (other than forscan mods, which is an entirely different thread). there most likely will not be any more companies making custom stuff for this vehicle, simply because there is no market for it. Which is why no one make or plans to make springs besides H&R. We are fortunate enough that the fusion sport is a very similar chassis. Most of the "mods" available to us are simply there because they were so similar to the fusion product, that a company was willing to make minor adjustments to fit the edge. There are a few members here working with such companies to bring us more mods, but those companies generally seem uninterested. In the end, we're talking about a Ford Edge here, not a foxbody mustang. The handful of us performance people are vastly outnumbered by grocery getting, dog hauling, family toting, need more luxury at a decent price kind of people.

Have you pulled the tube off leading to your throttle body yet? I did today, and have some gunk in there for sure. This would probably help that.

Tried to do the thermostat install today. No way. Not happening. Following the instructions by special K, and the motor mount would not budge. not one bit. I spent the better half of a few hours trying to get the motor mount free to access the thermostat housing. I may go back into it tomorrow, this time by pulling the passenger wheel off and removing the plastic fender well and getting to it from the "front" of the t-stat housing. Absolutely no amount of prying, persuading, pulling, jacking, lowering would allow that thing to budge more than a few millimeters. there is no room to "pry" as suggested without some kind of tool that I don't have in my arsenal. at this point, i've used every vulgar word in my dictionary and my back is killing me. I've had a lot of PITA projects working with vehicles, and there are very few that i would not recommend trying at home. this is one of them.

Did you get yours from the same guy? made by "darkstar"?

I got the 20" wheels with the hankooks ventus noble II tires, so I can't answer that. It is not recommended to run a thermostat unless you're running a tune, and even then, it really isn't necessary unless you are pushing this thing to the limit at the track. If you do enjoy taking curves and really treating it like a sports car, almost all of us would recommend the H&R Lowering springs. pretty simple install, just need to get an alignment after a few hundred miles. handles like a dream. I had an 01 bmw that has absolutely nothing on this edge sport, which surprised me quite a bit. Now i know technology wasn't crazy back then, but in my eyes, still impressive. I asked 2 weeks ago and I was told they don't have any tunes over 100 octane race tune, what is this ms109 you speak of?

Drivebright HID's Anyone?
Mikula replied to Mikula's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Like I said, the guy at drive bright suggested 6k to match the signature lights. I'll keep you posted after then install and snap some pics before and after -
Newer guy at work has a 2008 nissan 350z with some giant fart cans hanging out the back. He evidently didn't get the memo that my time slips were better than his. He had to find out the hard way not to mess with my "mini van". Lots of trash talking on his end the last 2 weeks til I shut him up.

are you getting a lot of rattles in the interior from it? Its pretty simple to install, and I may just swap it on my way to the track if it causes too much discomfort in the cabin.

Livernois is a handheld programmer, not a chip. you can ask for up to 4 tunes, plus your stock tune, for a total of 5 tunes. If at any point you want a different tune, or run a different octane, just send them an email, they will send you a tune. no charge, an unlimited number of times. I do believe their numbers are pumped up a bit to sell their product, but considering stock numbers on the dyno are about 220hp 250tq, their numbers claim 315hp 425tq which is really impressive for 93 octane. And quite noticeable when you hit the gas. With these tunes, our edges are faster than the ST edge, but you know as soon as they start tuning the ST, they may be quicker than these sports. I don't know enough about the ST to make any assumptions, though. Beating "sports cars" is quite normal with the Livernoise tuner which is really impressive for a vehicle like this. My list of "kills" includes an STI, Civic SI, 2015 mustang, Charger with scat pack, infinity g37s, and most recently a 350z. Also, another member on here is several seconds faster than a Ferrari going up the curvy road at what they call "the snake" or mulholland highway in california. Hard to not be impressed with this crossover.

http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb/ I use this to find any recalls and it also shows some wiring diagrams.

Actually, If you look at the product picture on their website, the bolt holes are off on that one as well... When the 2nd one gets here, I'm probably just going to cut off the "U" shape and weld my own on there to solve the issue.

Not sure if you're talking about RMM or Intercooler, but this link will give you either! https://ultimateperformancenm.com/shop?olsPage=products

They are sending a replacement, and his email literally said "hmm, maybe it got damaged during shipping" Apparently he thinks I'm an idiot. I didn't know shipping companies could drill holes off center like that!
-
Maybe my eyes are crossed, it looks like your bolt/holes are not perpendicular either. the bolt sits at a slight angle. When I measured mine, they are almost 1/16" off. I would imagine he builds these in a jig, so I'm guessing the jig is off. amazing that he hasn't noticed. From top of bracket, to top of hole, on each side should be identical. Mine are not.

You'll find a lot of useful info and upgrades here. welcome to the community. most of us run Livernois tunes. Some others run Unleashed tunes. Both seem to be equally reliable, dependable, and well performing, though the more mods you plan on doing down the road, unleashed seems to be able to accommodate better. Since you won't be doing much more than a tune, either will perform fine. So far that we know of, the fastest edge sport in the 1/4 mile runs the LMS tune, and lowering springs, with a few other mods to keep it running consistently, but not an intercooler or anything like that. low 13 second passes are pretty normal around here with the LMS or Unleashed tunes. If you are looking to do more mods, search for intercooler grill, blow off valve, sway bar, rear motor mount, lowering springs. That'll give you a pretty good start (and a dent in the wallet)

I mean, If it wasn't made in america, i'd agree!

So I ordered the RMM from ultimate performance, and.. well.. I'm disappointed. Maybe I'm a perfectionist. Being a fabricator and welder has made look at things differently over the years. The bends are not 90* (hard to tell in the photo, one is 4* over bent, the other side is 1* under bent) and the holes are not in line for the bolt to go through. From end of bracket to center of hole is .051" different on each side. Just not what I would have expected quality wise. Since the holes don't line up, it seems it will put things in a bind under load, which is the opposite of what I'm going for here. My question is, has anyone else bought one that looks like this? I'm sending mine back regardless, as I expected better quality for that kind of cost. If this is a one off mistake, I'll have them send replacement, otherwise I'll be finding something else to put under there that is better.

I was recommended the 6k to match the signature lights. it appears much closer than 4300. if they are too "blue" at 6k, its free returns, no harm done. looks is all i'm after. effectiveness is not important. I've been driving with headlights from a 97 sebring, a 95 dakota, an 89 mustang, a 98 4runner, an 01 bmw. believe me, these lights will be much better than what I'm used to regardless -
That's my next mod. I've already welded the piece to the frame, just have to run the cable to a switch in the front so I can pull the chute when necessary. (I think that is the smiley face for sarcasm)
