  1. Thank you There is no aftermarket intake available for the Edge Sport and that is why I did what I did. I had no choice, I considered something like what you propose, but under hood clearance is tight and an engineer is exactly what is needed to design something like this. In my thought design I considered a new Valance cover so as to make the install look professional. No cutting up of the stock cover you just replace it. Removing the cover would work, but not look as clean. Your idea is the answer and the way to do it. I even bought a new snorkel and air box in an attempt to see just what could be done. I still have it . If it would help in the design you can borrow it. I would think that the new scoops volume should be equal to or greater than the snorkel . roots57 is a CAD design wizard and he might know of somplace that does prototyping. Perhaps it could be 3D printed? If you build it I would be interested in getting one.
  2. You are welcome, the numbers are optimistic. I will crunch them again for you when you post your tuned Dyno Chart.
  3. I recieved that recall and Galpin Ford did the fix in less than 4 weeks after I contacted them.
  4. Looking at your Dyno report it looks like parasitic loss is approximately 27.5% TQ and 27.9% HP. Given that at the crank numbers are 315HP and 350TQ for the Ecoboost 2.7L . A good tune adds around 50HP and 50TQ at the wheels. When I do the math at the crank numbers jump to 378HP and 415TQ. Add in a MRT axle back exhaust good for some HP and TQ and that should put you around or above 385HP and 420TQ at the crank !
  5. The springs can take time, could take up to 4 to 6 weeks after you order them. If you contact Rotora for Big Brakes tell them Xtra sent you and they might give you a discount.
  6. snmjim, You have the info on handling and braking, now as for power look into a Livernois Motor Sports My Calibrator for around $600. Several members have done this without any adverse affects. If you have the Edge Sport a LMS Tune can make a huge deference. Depending on the tune and the octane of the gas you use it is easy to see an increase of 50HP and 50 Ft Lbs TQ at the wheels or more. No longer do we have to turn a wrench, bust a knuckle and get all dirty to get power. You just plug in a small device and push a button, amazing ! BTW, I road raced a Ultima back in the mid 90's in the South West.
  7. That lincoln 3.0L TT will bolt right in. It uses the same Valves, Cams, Turbos, Block, Intercooler, Oil Pan on and on .. If you have the skill you could find a salvaged 2016 >17 MKZ and do the swap. Or buy a new short block for $1,500 and install that. Then get a LMS tune ,you might be looking at 450HP and 450TQ.
  8. My 2016 Edge Sport came with a rear sway bar installed. The stock sway bars are fine for the car as is, in my opinion. I have a STB installed, the STB was not show quality and had some polishing flaws that rubbed out with Mothers metal polish very easy. It also showed some flaws where it was bent. Look at "always on edge" posts and you can see what I am talking about . My welds were better than AOE and I had some logos stamped and etched on it . Other than that it works great. So you can get these for a 2016 Edge, but don't expect it to be flawless after all it comes from China. The fact is we don't have a lot of options for these parts so you kind of have to take it or leave it. If you are looking to turn some corners a good set of Summer tires will do wonders for the car. H&R springs will make a major difference in the handling as well. So Summer Tires and H&R springs are the major things the STB helps with the Vista Roof cars. I believe that the best handling Edge is the hard top without the Vista roof. The Vista roof adds weight at the top raising the center of gravity and it allows the body to flex more under hard cornering. The Edge is a well balanced car that can zip through winding canyons with ease it is forgiving, responsive and fun.
  9. Perhaps they could offer the 3.0L TT as a optional upgrade to the Edge Sport. It is just a bored and stroked 2.7. That would keep the price down . It would not be a RS , but I could live with it.
  10. I would like Ford to offer a 2018 Edge RS. This would be a step above the Sport. RS Package: 3.0L Ecoboost V6 from Lincoln. 400HP and 400 TQ w/ Automatic Transmission Possible 420 HP and 420 TQ for RS version . Recaro Front Seats .. Big Brakes Lowered Suspension Drive Modes Exhaust Wheels and Tires LED Fog Lights Trim Package Cooling Package.. Larger Intercooler Transmission, PTU and Rear End Coolers.
  11. The adjustments were done at the clamps, and that messes up the clamping power and they moved after a spirited weekend in the canyons. I just got off the phone with MRT and they said that where you cut the cars pipes is very important. He was talking a 1/4 inch + or - effects where the tips end up in the shrouds. So according to MRT the cuts have to be square and spot on for the system to fit as designed. He also said if I take it to a muffler shop and they bend it to fit properly it can void the warranty . I am taking my car into a muffler shop today to have the system bent/ tweeted to fit anyway. The adjustment I had done did not stay, the left tip is now so off center that it is touching the bezel. It is off toward the center of the car to the right side of the shroud. MRT said the system is made in a jig and the problem is where the cuts are made. I wish that MRT had something in the instructions that told us that the cuts had to be so accurate. Muffler shops don't use micrometers! So anyway Denny how do you like the sound?
  12. Had the tail pipes adjusted. Much better now, less resonance in the cabin . It is important to center them up in the exhaust bezels, and have the tail pipes extend well into the bezels to get the sound and vibrations out the back of the car. I can jump on it and it is not too loud or raspy. A quality system.
  13. My roof is closing but it is slowing down while closing and I can hear the motors trying hard. Less than 6.000 miles on a new 2016 car. It opens perfectly smooth and quiet. This is a big deal if this is happening as much as this thread implies. The dealer wants the car for a few days to sort out the problem. I thought it was just a simple lubrication problem. I will bring that car to the dealer every time it does not work as advertised. I will establish precedence for my future protection.
  14. The Edge G1 PTU is a sealed unit. Thank goodness that problem was addressed with the G2. Ford has made provisions for a fluid change in the G2 Edge.
  15. Bummer, Galpin Auto Sports will not install the brace. I need a longer bolt and not just any bolt, that bolt is a Alignment Cam Bolt. The bolt has a cam on it to adjust the rear camber. Although they could custom make me a new bolt, GAS believes that the liability is too high. So it is a no go on the brace. If I can have one made myself at a machine shop, perhaps they would then do the install.
  16. Thank you, I will check that out. I take very good care of that car and a heads up like that is nothing to be ignored. It has less than 6K on it and I have changed the oil 3 times already. 1,000... 2,500, and 5,000. I will have the PTU oil changed just in case as it is in the shop now having some custom work done. Can't hurt anything but my wallet .
  17. It works good in stock tune as well , no problems with or without tune. I will update when it rains .... next year .LOL *** 2019 note... No problems with rain or water .
  18. I have Sun Tek 45% to the front windows. Sun Tek is warrinty for life . It matches the color of the stock tent (it is not purple) and you can still see in so the popo should be good with it. So far no problems and I am happy with my choise.
  19. The STB was such a success, I have decided to add the rear brace this week. Galpin Auto Sports is doing the install as custom longer bolts are needed. The install itself is a 10 min easy access job, but the stock bolts are too short. After installing the STB the steering became laser like and was less effort on turns to keep a line. Both front tires stuck to the road and the improvement was substantial. The problem now is the inside rear tire is unweighting in high-speed corners. It is my hope that this is the fix. After the install another alignment is necessary as the brace attaches to the rear suspension. I will let you know how it works after this weekends canyon run.
  20. My front windows are 45% Sun Tek . They are not purple and the color matches the stock tint. You can still see inside so it should not cause any problems with the popo. Sun Tek also come with a lifetime warranty .
  21. First I love them!! They are so much better than stock. The Stock brakes could never keep up with my needs. I now have a few thousand miles on them and have pushed the car so hard in the canyons that the transfer case quit and over heated . All I had to do is give the car a rest and I was back in busness. A warning sign popped up saying that AWD was temporally unavailable. I have also have pushed the little 2.7 so hard in those canyons that the turbos got so hot that the car put up a warning that said pull over and let the car cool down for a while. The tempature guage was at normal. Now back to the Rotora Brakes they never quit, they never faded, they let me go very deep into the corners over and over and they never complained while other systems could not keep up. For those who said drilled rotors suck let me show you two cars that could have any brake system in the world. First a Shelby Super Snake GT 500. Carol Shelby would not specify Drilled Rotors in his super car if they sucked . Now the next car cost so much to argue that Drilled Rotors Suck is just nonsense ! This is a custon Rally Racing Porsch where the brakes have to run in mud on track and are tortured on a regular basis . Guess what it has Drilled Rotors !!! Check it out doubters. This close up is out of focus but you can still see the Drilled Rotors. Drilled Rotors on a Rally car ... The horror LOL So there you go Drilled Rotors Kick A** They are standard equipment on Supercars over the world! My front brakes -15 inch Rotora Drilled Rotors with six piston Calipers. Rear Rotora 14 inch Drilled Rotors with 4 piston Calipers. Rotora as of this post is the only manufacture to produce aftermarket brakes for G2 Edge Sport.
  22. She caught on, busted.... She walked around the back of the car and said your car is not as quiet as it used to be. Took her 3 weeks to notice. I said nothing . After living with this exhaust a while I can say at times when under load going slow, a certain frequency will resonate in the cabin that is too loud for my taste. Thats the only fault I have found with the system. It may have to do with the pipes not going far enough into the exhaust bezels for all the sound to get out.
