Tire sizes and Actual tire surface contact patch width?
Xtra replied to Edgingage's topic in Wheels & Tires
The rims on your car will determine just how wide/big a tire you can use. Look at the specs of tires you like at Tire Rack .you will find recommendations on rim size/width for almost every tire they have. I assume you have stock rims, stay with Tire racks recommendations you should be good. Use the sites I linked to see the difference between what you have now and tires you want. Tire rack also gives the contact patch or tread width look at specs to find the info. The links I gave will give you the sidewall hight- 25 replies

Suspension modifications on gen 2
Xtra replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
97novi2k, Did you have a chance to install the parts yet? if so, do you have any tips or notes on the install? If installed how is the ride, is it an upgrade as expected? -
I have a 2016 Sport and I would not recommend doing this but I have had my transmission accidentally kicked into reverse and park when driving at 60 to 70 mph on the highway....This has happened several times by children playing in the car by accident. Guess what happened? Nothing the car went into neutral as a failsafe and I had to step on the brake to shift it back into gear while still at speed. Thank Ford for that safety feature or I may have needed a new transmission, crashed, or worse. The kiddos won't do that anymore.... I had a nice talk with them Lol. Shifting from Drive to Sport and back while driving is fin, no problem.

The 20-inch wheels will give you lower gearing, faster acceleration and a better ride over the 22-inch wheels. Also, 20-inch tires have lots of variaty, are easy to find, and for the most part, cost less than 22-inch tires. The 3.0TT engine swap is catching on big time and the cost is similar to custom turbos and a FMIC on a 2.7.

Here you can see the stock turbo. Notice the lip around the cast 6 blade inducer. CPR Stage 3 turbos remove this lip to fit a larger 40.6/50.8mm, 6 blade billet inducer. Comp turbos also removes this lip and hogs out the shell to the max, installing an 11 blade 44mm/57mm billet inducer. Comp turbos also works on the inside of the shell to smooth it out. CPR states that their stage 3 "CAN" make up to 425WHP. That 425WHP would be available only under ideal conditions. You could not bolt them on and magically get 425WHP. That is advertising. Every part of the system from CAI to exhaust tips, to using a top-grade fuel would all have to be in-sink to get that advertised "up to 425WHP." I have 20,000 miles and a couple of years on my Comp Turbos with no driveline or engine problems at all, just normal maintenance. Though I do change the oil every 2,500 miles and I tend to use the severe-duty guide for maintenance recommendations. It has been a super reliable combo that I would trust to drive across the USA. My car Dynoed at 348WHP on a 91 tune, that's around 130WHP more than stock. I did baseline dyno runs with a bone stock car so I could log the improvement. I am guessing around 375WHP with 93 tune I have not dynoed on 93 yet. I believe that if you are looking for MAX WHP and MAX Performance then use snmjims recommendation for turbos, I think he has been using BNR Racing Turbos for years on several different projects and highly recommends them. After all, he is the current undisputed World Champion, and soon he will be the first to drop into the 11-second range. I would go with Comp for 130 to 160 extra WHP and good reliability with a stock driveline, or BNR for an extra 260WHP and not mess with the CPR turbos, just because they are untested around here. STOCK FORD EDGE 2.7 TURBO MODIFIED STOCK TURBO, BY COMP TURBO CPR - STAGE 3

Fantastic, I love the custom pipework in the engine bay and your custom exhaust. I also noticed the purple calipers and BBK, nice touch. Blacked-out, it is an amazing custom with so many little details. Great job.

II am so sorry to hear that, your experience appears to be the exception. The first one that I am aware of, I wonder if anyone else has had problems with an LMS tune on a stock car. Personally, I have not run an LMS tune for a couple of years now. At least they refunded your money.
-
I believe the problem might be is that you are not completely stock, and the LMS tune is designed for bone stock vehicles. Do any mods and you will need a custom tune to be safe. I have never heard of a problem with an LMS tune and a bone stock Edge.. So sorry to hear about the engine, perhaps you can replace it with a 3.0TT swap. Talk to snmjim , he has experience with that.

Suspension modifications on gen 2
Xtra replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Just got off the phone with S W and they said that the shocks drop ship direct from Bilstein. The SW guy told me they were back-ordered and I told him I spoke to Bilstein directly and that they were in stock, and not to BS me. I gave them until Friday to clear this up and give me an answer or I will be canceling my order with them. All I can add is stay away from Shock Warehouse I cannot recommend them. -

That's awesome, you got them so quick! Shock Warehouse is earning a name around here for slow to no service. -

97novi2k, I thought this conversation belonged over here in this thread. I spoke to Bilstein of America located in Poway,Ca and they said that the B6 shocks and struts we ordered are in stock at their warehouse and available now. I agree with you that Shock Warehouse does not drop-ship otherwise we would have our parts by now. -
What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Xtra replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I ordered up the same parts a couple of weeks ago and they have not arrived. I checked and Bilstein says they are in stock, Did your shocks and struts arrive yet? -

2017 Edge Sport 2.7 & 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0 - swap engines?

Awesome news, JC Perf pushes the limits with the first Edge 3.0TT. Thanks for clearing up the confusion about CGI blocks and swapping the 2.7 for the 3.0. ? -

2017 Edge Sport 2.7 & 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0 - swap engines?
Xtra replied to snmjim's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
I have been a proponent of swapping the 2.7 for the 3.0 . And always thought that it should have be the engine of choice for the Sport and ST. They are both the same basic engine and it should just bolt in . The 3.0 is just a board and stroked 2.7. The Unknown part is the tuning And wire harness compatibility. The engine blocks of both are super strong and made of the Same materials that NASCAR, Pro-Stock drag racers , big diesel over the road trucks and World record land speed Record cars use . CGI blocks are the strongest available. A $2000 upgrade for Compacted Graphite Iron V8 Dart M blocks And the Ford has this CGI tech stock ??. -
Wow, cannot edit some posts anymore and where did that emoji come from in my last post? Akriby help.

That is a good price for that grill $28.99, but that economy shipping for only $319.99, wow hate to see what the premium shipping costs. . LOL

Suspension modifications on gen 2
Xtra replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Gmandude, where did you get those bump-stops? I will be using the B6 front shocks with H&R springs thereby limiting travel and possibly hitting the bump-stop. Other than cutting down the B6 stops this is a great idea. Can you please post a link to the parts necessary. -
Suspension modifications on gen 2
Xtra replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
I just ordered up a complete set of the Bilstein B6 shocks and struts from Shock Wearhouse for my 2016 Edge Sport. Bought the front struts for $116.50 each and the B6 rear shocks for $94.50 each. The discounts showed up in my shopping cart. https://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=523108&selected_year=2016 . Mabey someone can find a better price and link that. MSRP on these items is $145 each for the rear shocks and $ 177 each for the front struts. Oh, about that track-day I was going to. I have canceled, because of the large turnout there will be limited track time available and it costs $400 bucks. I decided to spend that doe on the B6 damper upgrade instead. -

Special_K n' snmjim, you guys have helped develop a plethora of bolt-on performance parts for the Gen 2 Edge platform, and these Bilstein B6 dampeners are just what the Dr. ordered. Thanks!
