More good news, the plastic shop has already molded the ABS intakes and I am going over to the shop today to pick the up them up. Now that at the first batch of V2 ABS intakes have been molded the shop can start on the Carbon Fiber. This has been a long road to get to this place and I thank everyone who believed in me . Without your encouragement I doubt that I would have made it this far. Thank you all .

I am now talking orders for the V2 intakes Fiber Carbon effect V2 intake - $179 Black ABS V2 intake - $118 All prices plus shipping. Shipping varies by location. PM me for details .

Duece I now have the confidence to make your carbon one and will have the shop mold all the back orders this week if possible.

Just now received the 2015 results.... and it fits great Awwweeesome ???? woo hoo . Thank you Hollywood10s for your help .

I have PM the Lucky 5 that will receive the first V2 intakes. If you are one of the L5 please be kind and remember that you are the first. I expect everything to work out fine, but there is still a small chance that there might be a fitment problem just because I had to guesstimate the variances between years and models cars. The V2 was tested on my 2016 Sport and it fit even better than the V1 did, so just PM me if you have any hiccups.

The plastic shop made some adjustments to their machine and now the V2 mold is working as designed . This is great news as I won't have to rebuild the wood portion of the mold. I am still awaiting for a test fit report on the 2015 models. I have decided to make 5 ABS intakes this week anyway. I know that the test fitting is not complete, and I am taking a big chance, but I feel it is better to get some intakes out there now to get some feedback on fitment on different years and models, as to wait any longer. The intake is not in full production yet, but I have to get the ball rolling somehow. If I have good feedback from the 5 V2 ABS intakes then I will make the Carbon effect ones that are on on back order, start taking new orders, and move into production.

I just shipped the first V2 and by next Monday I hope to know if I can go ahead with a run of them .

Here in California if your car is under a certain weight fenders are optional. At least that is how I remember ?

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
Xtra replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
To this day the Saturn V holds many world records as the tallest, heaviest, most powerful rocket ever made and It still holds the record for the largest and heaviest payload ever flown, and Is the only rocket to take humans beyond earth’s orbit. An amazing piece of American engineering. Considering that it was mostly designed with slide rules, brain power and pencils ✏️ . Their computers were the size of a two car garage and your cell phone has many times the computing power and is way faster than they could have ever imagined at the time. -

Talk about a lot of HP. I just saw this Saturn V rocket motor in the RocketDyne parking lot and thought I should check it out. The Saturn V moon rocket at launch when all 5 engines start, and it’s not moving at all, has 7.61 million pounds of thrust, and ZERO horsepower. When the rocket reaches 1,000 FPS it produces 14.8 million HP. At the first stage cutoff the rocket is moving at 7,500 FPS and that is the equivalent of 106 million HP!!! Wow, that’s a lot of horsepower! -
Finally have an update. The V2 mold was tested and I have one intake molded. Because I rounded off the edges of the wood on the mold there was a problem with getting proper vacuum . This did not hurt the part but made it more difficult for the shop to work with . In the photo of the untrimmed part you can see where the material melted and pulled through. The shop is working on a solution for me and I may have to modify the wood part of the mold again and remove the rounded edges. The good news is that The fiberglass part of the mold is working better than ever. Here you can see how the ABS melted and holes formed along the rounded edges loosing vacuum This compares V1 on the bottom and V2 on top. The gasket line is much better defined on the V2 Test fit of the V2 . I have not even finished hand fitting it and it is looking good. The hood rubber bumpers stick above the intake a little more, and there is added room for the hood latch. I took it for a test drive and I can't tell any difference in performance between V1 and V2. All that is needed is to complete the finishing and then test for universal fit on 2015 to 18 Edges.

Great job!! Antonio learned a lot and so did I. One of you more entertaining videos.

I don’t think that’s what it was, it kind of had an old-school Front engine Indianapolis race car or sprint car look to it. It could have been a one off custom?
-
No word from the shop yet so I assume that they have not molded the intake yet or have run into some kind of problem. Anyway I have no control over that so I just need to be patient. I will give them a call at the end of the day and get a report on what’s up. It would be nice if I could get it done over the weekend and test next week.

Thanks WWWPerfA_ZNOW, I appreciate it. Today I dropped off the mold at the shop and ordered up a V2 black ABS intake. My fingers are crossed that everything works out. The shop said it will be done this week ( I hope before Friday at 6 pm ). Is there anyone in the San Fernando Valley or los Angeles area with a 2015 > 2018 Edge that is willing to let me test the intake for fit on their car. It will only take a few minutes and I will do the work. I can give a discount on the intake as a thanks for your time and help with the project. Please PM me if you are interested.

I saw this crazy open wheel single seat roadster on Mulholland Drive for a split second. I wonder what it was? Anyone know?

I have no idea what the backspace is , but if you contact Blaque Diamond they can help you. BD is located in the San Fernando Valley , Chatsworth, California Ph # 818-362-2300 BD can answer questions, but they might direct you to one of their dealers in order to buy them. I am not sure if they sell direct to the public. Also this setup was done by Galpin Auto Sports AKA- GAS. If BD can't help then Eric @ GAS might be able to get that answer for you. Or they have a guy there at GAS that just does wheels . You can ask for the wheel / rims department. Ph # 818-922-3800 Good luck

I just completed work on the V2 mold . Now a test intake can be made next week and checked for fit. If all goes well I can finally do a run of them. Again it will be the black ABS first, then the carbon ones.

There are vacuum slots cut into the bottom edge of the mold to help pull in the ABS around the base. I have plugged every other one along the long sides, 30 of them in total. This is an attempt to have more vacuum available to the top of the mold to give better overall definition to the smaller details of the intake.
-
Managed to accomplish a little today. I was able to install the vacuum fittings to the wood base. I apply a hefty coat of silicone sealant to them and then loosely tighten the bolts. I make sure to not squeeze out all the silicone and leave a nice even layer to act as a gasket. After the sealant drys I torque down the bolts to create an air tight fitting. Tee nuts installed Flanges are bolted down and waiting for the silicone to dry. The base needs some sanding to get rid of the drips, but my palm sander will make quick work of that.

New McGard lug nuts Installed and tires rotated. This is one of the OEM lug nut, it rattled made noise and could not be tightened properly. There were several like this. They defiantly cannot handle power tools and require a torque wrench. Now I know that a torque wrench is the proper way no matter what, but finding a tire shop or even a dealership that will take the time to put lug nuts on by hand are far and few between. I noticed that the cone on the OEM nuts are longer than on the McGard recommended ones. I hope that this is not a problem down the road in a few thousand miles. No matter, they are way better than what was on there.

The lug nuts came today so here are some unboxing photos. I ended up using Mufasa Sucasa's link, it made it very easy to find them and purchase. Thanks again to everyone for your help and recommendations. Ordered on Monday night, arrived Wednesday morning. What you see when you open the box Contents of the box bagged and tagged. Includes locking nuts with Key and a pouch for the key to keep in the car.
