  1. I'm the OP to this thread and want to clear up any confusion as far as the quality of my 2014 Jeep. I would say my Jeep has had more than it's share of issues since I bought it, most but not all taken care of by repeated service trips. I will say however when it comes to rattles/squeaks and noise it has been pretty good other than one annoying popping sound from the rear spoiler when it sits in the hot sun which is now supposedly fixed but it's been wintertime and haven't had a hot sunny day to check. After my test drives of two different edge sports, in my Jeep I will say I didn't hear any of the odd noises going over the same roads. I like the Edge overall and it's still in consideration for my next vehicle. I would hope if I do choose an Egde that I don't have any rattles/creaks/groans for the first few years of ownership.
  2. Thanks for the update. I like a lot about the 2017 Edge and good to know somethings are normal and some are not when I test drove it.
  3. Ok hmm when we turned off the heated seat and then turned it back on we no longer heard the fan. I must say the high and medium setting that fan is very loud (passenger seat) and had me wondering what the heck I was hearing when i had the car parked and radio off..
  4. So took a test drive in a new 2016 and 2017 Edge sport and here are my impressions - I like all the features of the vehicle. Driving it has good power and firm ride, very planted on the highway. Around town bumps rock it a bit but it doesn't get to where it's bouncing all over. Some gripes I have are Major - Steering wheel is angled too much to my liking, after 15-20 minute test drive my shoulders were complaining from trying to hold the wheel. Tried adjusting the tilt/telescoping but just couldn't find a spot it felt good. I usually have found for my build I like where the wheel is not angled as much and closer to straight up and down. The Edge isn't the only car I have had this issue with, be nice there was a way to adjust the angle of the steering wheel. Odd noises - both the 2016 and 2017 had noises from rattles, to groans and thunks. Wind noise from rear door area. I know some people find their Edge to have no odd noises and others have said they hear them but was disappointing. Minor - Touchscreen and controls can be a far reach and some of the hard buttons are small, Heated seats had a loud fan noise, checked and ventilated seat was not on, had to shut it off completely to get rid of fan noise. Also the ventilated seat on full is very loud. Overall it's a nice car with a lot going for it, just not sure I would be able to live with it due the steering wheel angle and if rattles/noises happen.
  5. Thanks everyone for the information. I do like the 2017 Edge Sport and just trying to learn all I can and how to get the best deal I can if I decide to get one.
  6. Beingpart of a Jeep forum there is a group buy being offered to members of the forum from at least one Jeep dealer. Some people report major savings from these offers. (sometimes 7-8% under invoice).
  7. Thanks for the responses. So say I decide on an edge what kind of deals are there? Is there a way to get employee type pricing? Good way to find invoice pricing? Group buy available?
  8. Thank you. I am reading something about the ventilated seats having an issue with weak cooling at least on the backs, do you know if this is still an issue? As for the heated steering wheel, be nice to know if turns on during cold weather automatically but regardless how hard is it to turn it on manually? I have grown to appreciate the heated steering wheel option more than even the heated seats. I should say my jeep during what it considers cold/hot weather turns on all those features as needed be it remote start or regular start.
  9. I am looking at the 2017 Ford Edge Sport and have some questions about it. I am currently driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland V6 4x4. How good is the quality of the edge? Does it hold up after years? Do rattles, squeaks, noises develop after time or is the Edge a solid build? The 2016 sport I test drove had a buzz from somewhere which concerned me. With remote start are there ways to set climate control, heated/ventilates seats and heated steering wheel to come on? On my Jeep 40 or below heated drivers seat, steering wheel and defrost all come on with it, and if 80 or higher AC and ventilated seat turn on. How is the Sport with AWD and standard factory tires in snow? Does the pano roof rattle? How does it do when open? Still on the fence about the feature but my Jeeps has been rock solid. How is the mpg people get with the 2.7l?
