  1. No primer 94 allowed in HI? That sucks huh. I only had a few ampules left so I'm pretty sure I will be redoing it in the near future, I want to apply it to more area, especially in the little corner recesses. This time I'm gona buy the small tub instead of the glass ampules, those only have about 1ml in them and it goes quick.
  2. Turned out pretty good, we'll see how it holds up, I used some leftover 3M primer 94 around the edges so hopefully it will help. But there isn't near the same adhesion you get on paint. I was able to cut my 12" x 96" piece in half the long way so I still have enough to redo it with better primer if it fails. Gona do the side skirts too, they're even easier.
  3. Nick, with that before and after shot of the F150 tailgate, was it just polished out and coated? Huge difference, you can't see any of the vertical surface scratches that were there before
  4. That's a damn shame that this wasn't something either the dealership or your insurance wouldn't cover...especially with only 3600 miles so far...just wrong
  5. Definitely bring it back to the dealer...especially if it didn't come off during cleaning or something
  6. Exactly what I thought...the ride height was still the same, and the only other info I could find was that they changed the damping, but without a ride height adjustment that won't make much of a difference, especially compared to the current model on H&Rs. The transmission and how responsive the new paddle shifting is...these are the two things I am most curious about, because along with the brakes, its the current sports biggest deficiencies IMO...they did upgrade the brakes a bit too
  7. I know man, I saw a video of a vinyl job where at ton of that primer was used on a bumper cover and it was a nightmare to strip...I'm hoping I don't have to use something like that...I've got a couple of other ideas tho...its not the end of the world for me if it gets ruined eventually, it's only a $60 part to replace, I honestly just do these extra appearance mods in part because I really enjoy the relaxation and alone time of working on my car...thanks as always
  8. So I've heard a few times now that it's a good idea to also change the plastic drain plug from time to time, or at least the o-ring, anyone else doing this on the reg?
  9. Yea I'm gona clean and degrease it really well and give it a shot. I'll probably try a small test piece just to feel the level of adhesion I'm getting first. As long as that seems ok, I'm gona try. I also bought a laser thermometer so I can properly post heat it after, this way it has its best chance for holding up.
  10. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll look into it a bit more, maybe I can use a tactifier and get away with it. I'll let you know how it goes. If I do have success, I'll be doing the side skirts also, maybe even the middle section of the rear splitter. I got the ideas from the Webasto Edge, has all the pieces I want to do wrapped in CF vinyl. I suppose it doesn't have to hold up very long if it's just got to survive for a couple of shows. Then again who knows what they did for surface prep.
  11. Nick, so I'm wrapping my front splitter (I guess you can call it that) in carbon fiber vinyl this weekend. Didn't you wrap yours too? I'm wondering if I should remove it or wrap it in place. Most of the time its better to leave things like this on so it doesn't move around while you try to wrap, if you can that is. With this I'm not sure what to do, maybe you have some advice to offer? I'm probably doing the side skirts (lower molding) also if I have enough material leftover, but those I'll do those in place for sure.
  12. It looks like it wasn't taken too much further compared to the current Sport apart from more damping and roll stability control. The ride height looks the same in the photos and if I got an ST that is the first thing I'd change, hopefully the H&R's still fit, but they would probably make some if not, they offer two different spring options and coil-overs for the Focus ST. It looks like they finally put larger brakes on it though, it was a must for this!
  13. I got you, I know exactly what you mean...thanks again for the tip!
  14. I've definitely got a dental pick tool, glad you mentioned that, I'll have it ready for changing the o-ring now, cheers!
  15. That listed was just added yesterday I think. I cancelled an order I had made for $36 for a 5 quart jug. Now I'm also getting the extra quart I need to fill it for $10 less than I was getting 5 quarts for. A great deal for Mobil 1 for sure!
  16. Was just looking at that Edge ST. There's articles in motor trend, etc. out now. Looks like they tune the 2.7 EB up from 315/350 to 335/380 along with the cosmetic face lift for the 2019 model year. I like the lower fascia much better that the current Sport but I still like the current models headlight/grille shape better. Kind of opposite in the back, I love the new tail light shape but don't care for the lower rear fascia or square exhaust tips at all...at first glance anyway. Maybe it will grow on me, but I hope not, otherwise I may want one. The one thing I'm going to be envious of is what they did with the transmission. New 8-speed auto, but on the ST they made the paddle shifters fully manual so the response time should be fairly quick (anything would be an improvement over the current paddles...useless!). I wonder what the MSRP will be for a well equipped ST model...gotta be pushing into the $50k mark for sure. Looks like its farewell to the Sport model after 2018 it lieu of the ST. https://jalopnik.com/2019-ford-edge-st-so-this-is-happening-1821975831 http://www.businessinsider.com/ford-reveals-2019-edge-st-high-performance-suv-2018-1 http://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/edge/2019/2019-ford-edge-st-first-look-review/
  17. Just hit 12k so I'm finally switching to Mobil 1 full synthetic this weekend. Doing it myself, got a 6 pack of Mobil 1 quarts for $26 on amazon. Throw in another $5 for the filter and I'm looking at $31 for a Mobil 1 oil change, that's tough to beat. Anyways, my first time changing the oil in my Edge, any tips that anyone has to offer? I know they switched to the top mount cartridge style filter and the drain plug is a twist lock design now. I'll put it up on 6" ramp stands so it should be fairly easy.
  18. If you want to play it safe, get wheels with the same offset as the factory wheels. 265/35-22" tires have the same outside diameter and width as the factory 265/40-21" set up, so as long as you don't deviate too far from the factory offset, you won't have any clearance issues. I think you might even be able to get away with 275/35's but then you need to be more careful with offset.
  19. That is a horror show! You would probably have a really strong lemon law case in Cali for a refund/replacement, how does it work in Hawaii? Hopefully they at least supply you with a loaner. I don't blame you for wanting to get into something else, especially with a family to lead. Its always tough to trust the long term integrity of a vehicle that has had some type of persistent issue in/around the power-train especially. Hope everything works out for the better. I'm sure you will be missed on here, should you jettison the Edge.
  20. Here's a video from MACT on servicing the pano moon roof which includes removal of the glass: Is this what you found too? EXPENSIVE!!! $750-$950 each panel. I'd sure hate to have to buy one out-of-pocket for a brand new car, how come they are not covering it under warranty, did you damage it yourself or did it just crack? What about your insurance, glass coverage may cover it even if it was damaged by mistake. There may be a deductible as your insurer may not consider it safety glass and could treat the same as something like body damage due to collision. I just emailed State Farm to make sure mine is covered, got me curious after seeing that price! Anyway, looks like the p/n for the front (moveable) glass panel is FT4Z-58500A18-C and it replaces FT4Z-58500A18-A so it looks like you have the right part number: https://www.oemfordparts.us/oem-parts/ford-sunroof-glass-ft4z58500a18c/?c=aT1NUzE1NTU4NSZyPWxheWVyXzEmYT1mb3Jk Good luck! (sorry WWWPerfA_ZNOW you must have posted right before me) *Update - State Farm just confirmed that it would be a glass claim covered under my policy, should mine crack/break so hopefully you have the same sitch.
  21. Damn, sorry to hear that. Why did you take it in initially, what were the symptoms of the issue? Still under warranty, despite your performance mods?
  22. Here's a side view pic. I started putting rain guards on my cars back when I lived in Boston. I used to smoke cigs and the rain guards would create a perfect vacuum when you roll down the window a couple of inches and would prevent rain from coming in. I'm sure they add a little noise @ highway speeds but not much at all, these Gen II Edges are whisper quiet in the cabin anyway. I just like that I can have the window down a bit without rain coming in (for those rare SoCal rain storms). I bought the Edge rain guards from the dealership, but I'm sure they're cheaper online. I'd stay away from the type that mount into the window jam, while they may look a bit cleaner, but the jam is only made to fit the thickness of the window pane, not an additional 1/8" piece of plastic. I suggest you get the surface mount ones like mine if you do buy them.
  23. As long as you don't live in a place that gets crazy weather, I think summer tires work just fine in the occasional rain. The P-Zeros and the Atturos I have on now did just fine in the rain (just rained in SoCal today actually). I tried to see how much of an effect the rain had and I was really surprised how well they still gripped during launch and cornering. I didn't expect that. Because I couldn't detect any substantial loss of grip compared to my experience with all seasons, I'll probably run summer tires for the duration of my time owning this car. I'm sure the AWD helps too, esp during launch.
