  1. I have a 2017 Ford Edge Sport that was making an odd wind noise at speed and upon investigation I found that a passenger side rear suspension shield had separated from the chassis and was only being held by a small plastic plug. This shield is very large and heavy and could do damage or injure someone if completely separated at speed. I called my Ford dealer’s service department and was informed that this is a known defect on Ford Edges manufactured before 2020. Has anyone seen this before? I would image this is a serious hazard and should be addressed with a recall. Below is a photo of my passenger rear suspension shield. The only thing preventing it from completely separating from my Edge is that small plastic plug attached to the flexible inner fender cover.
  2. BTW, I did receive the Blendmount and Mirror Tap kit. Now I have to figure out how to remove the covers to install the Mirror Tap.
  3. Sunglasses are not sufficient when the sun is directly in your field of vision. Also, my wife would not be pleased if she lost the use of her sun visor.
  4. All Hat No Cattle I suspect you only get part of the manual when you order the version without the links enabled. The 2017 Ford Edge manual I received a few weeks ago was only 6,491 pages, but I see yours is 13,312 pages. If this is the case the version I received is worthless.
  5. I bought the version with the links not enabled. What does the camera link do?
  6. Won't the visor mount preclude use of the sun visor?
  7. I was going to install a valentine 1 radar detector in my 2017 Ford Edge Sport using the suction cup mount, but I just learned that California law prevents mounting anything to a vehicle windshield. I am looking for alternatives and I was wondering if anyone here has done an installation with a Blendmount. Does it interfere with the adjustment of the rear view mirror or block too much of your forward vision? https://store.blendmount.com/mirror-id-for-013-c6481.aspx
  8. Follow-up To The Fluid Leak On My 2017 Ford Edge Sport The dealer I decided to go to was 30 miles away from my home and I wanted to make sure I could drive that distance without damaging anything. My investigation showed there was no ATF leaking from the transmission and the ATF level in the transmission was full. I was convinced the fluid was emanating from above the transmission case so I removed the air cleaner, battery and battery tray for a better look. See photo below. I even used a flexible bore scope to get a better look in tight spaces. All signs pointed to the transmission mount area, but I could not find anything definitive. When I dropped my Edge off at the dealership service department last Wednesday the staff was very impressed with my investigation and assigned the work order to their master mechanic. He was able to confirm that the transmission mount incorporates a hydraulic dampener that had failed and was leaking hydraulic fluid. This was a surprise to everyone. Before I took my Edge in I went through the Ford factory repair manual and I could find no mention that the transmission mount incorporated a hydraulic dampener. It will take 7 to 10 days for a new transmission mount to arrive. In the meantime the service department staff said I could drive my Edge with out damaging anything. BTW, back in the 60’s and 70’s I never hesitated to take my cars and motorcycles apart for repairs or to improve performance. I am guessing these days many are limiting their capabilities to the apps available on their smart phones.
  9. What I received was a pdf version of the 2017 Ford Edge service manual that I can search any time I want to refer to it on my computer. Here is a page from the Ford service manual I downloaded.
  10. I purchased the manual from them. It was downloaded directly from Ford. It's the real deal.
  11. Today I decided to remove the air filter box to see if I could get a better view of the top of the transmission where I believe the red fluid may be coming from. I also wanted to check the transmission fluid level. I found evidence of the red fluid as indicated in the photos below. I still could not locate a source. Looks like I need to pull the battery next since I see the red fluid under the battery. I will need the repair manual to figure out how to do that. Hopefully I will have the Edge repair manual I ordered today by tomorrow. NOTE: The transmission ATF level was fine.
  12. I sold the Toyota on Craigslist last year. Sold in less than 1 hour. I had about 30 people contact me.
  13. I stay off Old San Jose Road. Too many bicyclists.
  14. Does anyone have experience with this supplier of Ford Edge factory repair manuals. I am thinking of obtaining a factory repair manual for my Ford Edge from them. https://www.factory-manuals.com/expand-ford-edge-2015-2016-2017-factory-repair-manual-563.html
  15. I just learned that the 2017 Ford Edge Sport does not have a power steering pump. The steering is electric. I think it would be beneficial if I had a service manual to see how to remove all the covers and get under the air cleaner. The source of the leak appears to be well above the drive shafts and to the left under the air cleaner.
