Here's a good deal on a good quality oil. Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 qt. $25.47 Less $12 Mobil rebate. Limit 2 rebates per household. Myself and many others have also had umpteen miles and plenty years of trouble free motoring attributed to the choice of oil, whether it be Mobil, Valvoline, ...............etc.

Best of luck with Ford Corp and getting it sorted, and its highly unlikely that they'll find any cause to refute warranty seeing as all the work to date has been at their direction by authorized dealerships. I've had my Sport for 1.5 years and haven't heard of any major endemic issues with them - what are the concerning things you're reading?
-
I agree that the dealer is a scumbag for not being forthcoming with all the work done, although I don't know if he has a legal obligation to do so, particularly if he is confident that it was Ford authorized work and the original factory warranty is still in tact. I bought my 2017 Sport new in March last year and all the online prices I see indicate the same type of price drop you're seeing on yours, and I just accept that par for t he course in our market for all makes. If Ford step up to the plate and do a robust warranty repair or replacement, drive it a while and you may establish confidence in it.

If the company, Toyota/Ford, that did warranty repair work on the vehicle is an authorized Ford service center, and the warranty work was authorized by Ford Corp. then whatever it takes to correct it now will be covered by Ford Corp. What does this mean? You're not screwed if it was warranty work authorized by Ford Corp.
-
The dealerships acted under direction from Ford Corp. to address all the warranty work done from the outset, so Ford Corp. remain liable, assuming the selling dealership is a registered Ford dealership. Was the selling dealer a Ford dealership - if so you should have no issues with Ford Corp. covering this, if not, I can understand you're in a very difficult situation. We all lose that kind of money on vehicles, so that's not unique to this situation, or am I missing something here?

That was posted in another auto forum that I frequent by an Amsoil rep, who also made the comment that Mobil 1 was more than adequate for "normal operating conditions" but he would stick with Amsoil and suggests the same for those who's driving/racing style is considered "severe operating conditions". https://www.kia-forums.com/2016-sorento/275050-oil-change-interval-12.html

My 2017 Sport has 29,000 on the clock and no issues with the PTU, and I've read about others with high mileage, some having done maintenance and some zero maintenance, with no issues.

Official Release of V3.0 for SYNC3 Has Begun
1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I've tried a number of times and get the same response. I guess that the Ver 3.0 that I used in March 2018 is the latest for my vehicle. I know they're not an IT company, but they could at least hire an IT professional to smarten up this side of things. On Sunday it took an hour to update my wife's 2015 Mustang from V 5.8 to V 5.11, with the engine running all that time. -
Official Release of V3.0 for SYNC3 Has Begun
1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I updated to v3.0 in March 2018, and after seeing your post I logged on and it indicated that my Sync isn't up to date, so I went through the whole update and uploaded the xml log file, and it still says that my Sync isn't up to date. -
Where did you read that? Fill it to the fill hole.

Welcome. My Sport is almost 1.5 years old now and its perfect. Be sure to change the PTU oil ASAP.

Mud Flap Splash Guard - OEM or 3rd Party ?
1004ron replied to 1004ron's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Thanks for that - I'll be ordering a set. Will take off the OEM front ones that don't fit very well. -
Ford, and a few others, do that to advertise fantastically low running/maintenance costs, ....... a gamble that didn't pay off. The latest models, I think from 2017, do have a drain, so I'd expect them to use the latest revision for replacements on earlier models.

Try contacting Sirius - when I opted out of renewing XM radio after the free 6 month trial, they confirmed that the 5 year free traffic was still active.

No worries, have no issue with your decision not to engage in debate on an open public forum.

Couldn't find much on that - just this: American Axle (AXL) to Deliver AWD PTUs for Ford Crossovers

It sounds like you don't know the answers to those questions, but have nevertheless come to the conclusion that nothing has been done. The changes that I'm aware of are increased oil capacity, cooling fins added to the casting, air scoop, oil temperature sensors, .......... and there may be more. Ford didn't broadcast those changes as far as I can tell. Have you read any reports here of failures on the Gen-2 ?
-
I've been using a good quality, reasonably priced, full synthetic, readily available oil for 30 plus years with amazing results, and no doubt would be saying the same if I'd made Amsoil my choice of lubricant.
-
Asking that question, and later comments suggests that you're assuming that the PTU remains unchanged from the Gen-1 Edge. Just browsing this forum I have noticed that the latest generation has seen changes to the PTU.

Of course you're free to express your personal opinions, but just from the time I've spent on this forum I get the impression that a large majority here are happy owners and most would likely buy another Edge, or any other Ford model. I'd certainly buy another Ford Edge Sport, or ST. Before buying, I get some guidance from forums etc. and that's what I did prior to buying my 2017 Sport, and just like any other manufacturer, there's negative posts, some rants, ...... but I've learnt to garner the truth in between all that. Bad news travels way faster and wider than good news, and we are all old enough to see through media hype. Now that you've decided against a Ford, what are you considering?

More likely a ridge worn in the shaft by the grit that was attracted by oil from the first leaking lip seal.

Thread necro to report that the other LED signature light now has water trapped inside. Has anyone else had issues with these LED's and water ingress?

I don't doubt the quality of the product, but with so many other good quality products freely available at good prices, the effort to buy Amsoil isn't worth the hassle for me.
