Without the pictures you promised, we'll go with the dealer blowing smoke up your rear end. Maybe there isn't an updated version.

Need Help -- 2008 Limited Battery Drain Problem
1004ron replied to Peveto's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
You need to Google how to find a parasitic drain, or take it to an Auto-Elec shop, correct that, then get it to a place like Autozone to do a battery test which also includes a test of the charging system. A lead acid battery will be destroyed by just a single deep discharge event, and that the reason why you've needed two in ten months. -
Shark fin antenna comes off. How should I fix it?

Oh OK, I didn't see that. "Anyone get a quote on this?" -

Have you tried a search using the part number in this thread? -
Keen to see the pictures, but can confirm that mine bought in 2017 does not attach to the back seat headrests.

Post a pick so that we can see what's "updated". I used mine for a week or two, and its been collecting dust for 5 years since - its a PIA and the dark rear windows make it impossible to see anything stored in the cargo area. I'd sell mine for 25% of the cost and buyer pays shipping - Sold on Craigslist.
-
I'd say the answer is Yes, seeing as my 2017 Sport dome lights work. What MY is yours? Please add location and MY to your profile signature - Settings - Ford Edge Forum

The car from hell - wobble and drifting ?
1004ron replied to Zamboni's topic in 2019-2020 Edge & Nautilius
Maybe the bent wheel trashed the suspension bushes, and its starting fresh in the new location. A few things are puzzling me - I'd know if I had a curb impact severe enough to bend a wheel, and would get it checked ASAP - a bent wheel will most certainly cause vibration, and a rumble which I'd hear, feel, and investigate. Warranty isn't going to cover a bent wheel. -
In that case, it was already at its end of life, not having the oil replaced at a reasonable mileage interval.
-
What's the mileage, and how frequently was the PTU oil changed?
-
I believe your model doesn't have a PTU drain, so they couldn't have drained it - they would have "extracted" the oil, if they did anything with it. If sludge was found they may attempt to flush it with ATF, but it shouldn't run more than a few miles before filling with the correct oil.
-
Your owners manual should show that, and if you don't have one do a Google search for a PDF version. It wouldn't take long to damage the PTU with the wrong fluid. Of course they'll respond that its a typo, in which case I'd demand that they prove it to me by extracting the fluid for me to inspect, and then of course show me the fluid going back in. Also, it needs to be recorded on Ford's records linked to your VIN.
-
Why would they use ATF in the PTU which calls for gear oil 75W140 ?
-
The originals have text "Left" and "Right" and Ford lists two part numbers - I couldn't see any physical difference. Just to confirm, that link has them at $48 for the pair? I'm going to get a set - I liked the way it lifted fully open when my Sport was new. I suspect the gas has just about all leaked out on mine.
-
"Transfer Case" - Are you referring the PTU or the Transaxle/transmission?
-
If there's clear evidence that the seller sent the wrong goods, then you can open a dispute with eBay and whoever you used for payment, but if it wasn't the sellers error then you'll need to eat the cost or try work something out with the seller to send the correct goods and negotiate the costs.

Looks fine to me, but you could have your dealership look at it when.

The new batteries test higher than the labeled CCA - I guess they don't want anyone complaining about it being one or two CCA below rating. I went from a 590 to a 730 CCA and its showing 825 CCA

I recently bought one very similar, which also has the same functions. With two cars, motorcycle and ride-on lawnmower, its handy - yes, we could take it to Autozone, but I prefer the convenience having this. My 2017 Sport never had a slow crank, and the only thing I did notice was that the time on ACC had got a lot shorter before the warning to start the engine or cut the power, so it got a new battery one size larger. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z67MMGC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I started doubting my memory with regards it open on its own from about two foot, but a week ago when I installed a set on my wife's Mustang it reminded me how it did and should work.
-
I bought the Redline Tuning ones on Black Friday at $85 for my wife's Mustang and they work great with that long hood - from about two foot open they briskly take it all the way open. I browsed the Redline website but didn't see a direct replacement - will send a request. The Mustang didn't come with struts - I chose the Redline because their mounting brackets were the best. My 2017 Sport's hood struts have lost their vigor (need Viagra) and I have to open the hood all the way by hand, and it will at least stay there, but I do recall that I could lift the hood the first foot or two and it would take off on its own to full open. What's the best replacement, OEM or are there better brands available?
