What shop is that? I ask because your comments here suggest it's highly incompetent and add to that ineptitude, they obviously didn't even do a test drive. You're going to need a shop that has the required diagnostic tools and skills - it could be a multitude of things like faulty wheel speed sensor, ........... If its mobile you could take it to Autozone and have them scan it for fault codes, but a professional would be the best option.

At a 170K miles and never had the PTU fluid changed, I'd be leaning towards that being the source of the noise. It's probably not recoverable but would do a fluid change on it first - the fluid, if there's any left, will give you a good indication of the PTU's condition. I expect yours doesn't have a drain plug so will need an oil extractor - when you replace it be sure to add a drain plug - a search of the forum will provide details on how that's done.
-
With that said, have you been changing fluids on the PTU? - if so, what interval and what oil?

Heated and Cooled Seats

I'm surprised that the Auto Stop Start can't be disabled with Forscan - soon after we bought a BMW X5 for my wife I used Bimmercode ($50 app) to code the ASS default to OFF. Edit: If it can be done on the F150 it should be possible on the Edge. -
Jack points and jack stand placements?
1004ron replied to Vortechtral's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I use a pinch weld protector on my floor jack that I made from an ice hockey puck just rearward of the front jacking point, positioned so that it will lift that side up evenly, then place two jack stands with their pinch weld protectors at the two jacking points, move to the other side and do the same. There's a few scanners available that can do the ABS bleed function - a bi-directional tool will cost around $300 to $600, but you could see about loaning one from Autozone. Here's one example: https://www.amazon.com/TOPDON-ArtiDiag-Bidirectional-OE-Level-Diagnostic/dp/B0BNKHCXVC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2PHKOECMCCH78&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.wtD8hkhY1zyiBdGmJRbfWjEjCH4q7MHceyOEiO56rGJApl1bFBaxsz79fm2I9IUISsTGw6mPmb6Jveb7pOE5Pi3GP7zq6-tR1NLpx0HfU_Y8HjHJvGtzyBz0nDe4ISsR3hzI0V9wum3DYDKcmf_B28DYBGslfkBOz4f3PDAPwMGiFcCv3yg1gZ5EPhoRdYB0Ftv3bCB6fANxdauykrNO-GIi-VeUXy0BjXznP7qRYB59ECPszBtM0wADmi7QWA0UYvEok4F9GXf3O6QvyaGaTVjPWLvJVyiACQWQE6gt6SA.OvtyCSlRA92qhehXImnwpw5g52bhqjwreXHN0b9drtM&dib_tag=se&keywords=topdon+topscan+pro&qid=1720746051&sprefix=topdon+%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-3 https://www.topdon.com/products/ArtiDiag-Pro

I don't think that's practical for expelling air from the system.
-
Welcome. The only thing that I can see that you didn't do was the bleed procedure that includes activation of the ABS pump/system.

I'm sure @Haz will be able to confirm what service manual is available from Ford for your UK Model/Year. The Ford service manuals are very good, but pricey - @Haz frequently posts excerpts from these manuals.

Welcome. Many reports on this forum of the unreliability of the remanufactured alternators, leaving the owners with no option but a new OEM replacement. If you can get the car to Autozone have them test the alternator and battery - they don't charge for this.

You can download a virgin copy. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

This is the one that I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z67MMGC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There's always the option to get it tested free of charge at Autozone - either way, it's way better than guessing.
-
No vehicle warranty covers impact damage. There's no way to prove if the damage occurred after the used vehicle was sold or prior to the sale.
-
A failing battery will most often indicate fully charged which doesn't mean it's healthy - the only reliable way to address the reported issue is testing.
-
No idea what "everything" means. The battery tester, like the ones that Autozone will use on your vehicle at no charge, will test more than just the health of the battery - I suggest that be the first step in the diagnostics.

What have you checked so far? How about the suggestions posted in this thread?

Are you convinced that Ford doesn't specify the Motorcraft Full Synthetic and its additive package for your model with its belt driven oil pump?
-
Motorcraft Blend and Motorcraft Full Synthetic are both good oils and meet Ford's specs, so out of those two which would you say is best?
