DRL Change
1004ron replied to 15FireSport's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I also have the HID's and they are used for high and low beam, and I have the selection for DRL's on or off in the menu, but just cannot get those inboard lamps to come on. Inside may garage the lights come on in auto, so I took it out into the sunlight and they went off, but no DRL inboard lights switch on. My turn indicators stay on and change brightness when indicating - could this be the DRL's on my model? What am I missing here? I'd also like to get the LED's, but first need to see these inboard lamps turn on. Edit: Thanks to @15FireSport I got my DRL's to turn on - not sure why I couldn't get them to work yesterday, but it was a simple as having it in daylight and gear selected to Drive. -
I only disconnect the coils when I store my vehicle because I don't run it for months, and that way when I first crank it , it doesn't fire up allowing it to first build oil pressure and deliver it to all locations before I actually allow it to fire up. Marine Stabil should be fine - I use this one: https://www.goldeagle.com/product/sta-bil-fuel-stabilizer/ https://www.goldeagle.com/tips-tools/top-five-sta-bil-product-myths-debunked/ Get a battery tender that has the capacity to power the alarm if you have one, while also maintaining the battery - if not near a power source the solar tenders work well. Occasional drives need to be at least 30-minutes in order to evaporate any moisture on the engine and exhaust.

Use a car cover Pump tires 5 to 10 psi higher than normal Full tank of gas with Stabil Oily rag in exhaust tail pipes and air intake Connect battery tender Disconnect ignition coils (when you intend starting it, crank it over for a while until the oil pressure light goes off, then connect coils and let it start) It would be better not to drive it occasionally if the drive wasn't long enough to fully heat up everything.

Can't find and tire shops in my area that have the AZ850, and none that I know of that will fit tires you bring in. Edit: Ken Towery's will fit and balance them for $90 , plus $90 for wheel alignment. BTW, the KT person I spoke to tried to talk me out of trying the Atturo tires - said the ride would be vastly different, ........ sounded like sales talk more than anything else.
-
Roots, based on your review I'd like to try those tires, but can't find them listed with any of my local tire fitment places. Where did you buy yours? I was thinking of buying them online and having a tire fitment shop install and balance them, but many of these places wont do that if you didn't buy the tires from them.

Sorry if this has been posted, but all I could find in this section was PTU threads, lots of them. Where's the Trans oil dip stick and top-up cap on the 2017 Sport ? My handbook shows to move the air filter intake to the side to access it, but I don't see it on mine. I'm looking at taking advantage of a good deal running on a pack of 12 quarts Motocraft Mercon LV, and will exchange the trans oil with this when I reach 50 or 60K miles. Edit: I found it, tucked away under the coolant hose. It would be best to remove the complete air filter box to access it.

2017 Heated / Cooled seats TSB?
1004ron replied to blockisle9's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Where was that mentioned, any links? My 2017 seats heat and cool great. -
Today I did another lube service at 15K miles - the 10K mile service was done by Ford - I plan to have Ford do alternate services. The Royal purple that came out the PTU still looks good and the magnetic drain plug was clean after 10K miles. It doesn't take much to do the PTU lube service so I'll stick to a 10 ~ 15K mile interval. Also pleased to report that the engine is now 100% dry - no more oil leaks since the solenoid was replaced by Ford.

He is taking the word of one of his clients, its not a trial that he conducted himself under controlled conditions. If this was really plausible, the tire manufacturers would have got onto it as well - you could counter that argument with a comment that they want to sell more tires, but on the other hand they would outsell their competitors if they advertised that kind of mileage with good performance. It's like all the gimmicks that claim to save 10 to 20% on fuel consumption - the competition between manufacturers is tight and some have even paid penalties for overstating their efficiency figures, so they'd have been all over those gimmicks if they were for real .

is it ptu unit build with drain plug or should we make our own hole.
1004ron replied to cephas's topic in Welcome Forum!
I've read that the Middle East versions do in fact have a drain plug on the PTU, so best you crawl under and take a look. -

I'm not buying the extended mileage on the tires - if that was possible, it would be at a major sacrifice of grip, particularly in the wet.

Mobil-1 5W30 every 5K miles which is overkill seeing as my driving is light, Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor triggers around 10K and the oil is good for 15-20K miles.

Cabin air filter issue? Mildew smell occuring
1004ron replied to Ericalan350's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
I'm pretty sure it was, because it took only a couple of days with it turned off for the smell to go. I did a search on why it auto kicks off recirc mode, and a few sites cited the damp smell as the reason. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12114-stop-the-recirculate-control-from-automatically-shutting-off/ -
SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available
1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ford's links say that Sync Connect is required and not available on our model - I'd appreciate it if you gave it a try on your Edge and report back if it works. -
Cabin air filter issue? Mildew smell occuring
1004ron replied to Ericalan350's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
My car was only a few weeks old and I started to get the damp smell, and realized that it was my extended use of the recirc button - it will auto switch off recirc and I'd turn it back on immediately. I seldom use the recirc now and its all good now. I realize that the chances are slim that this is your issue seeing as it only came up after you'd owned the car for some time. -

1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Give it a try and report back if it works for you, but it doesn't on my 2017 Sport, and I haven't read of any other Edge Sync3 systems working. -
SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available
1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks for that. Do you know what Ford's reason is for dumping VHR ? Not knowing what the update involved, I started speculating that it could be the cause of the unusual behaviour of the adaptive cruise. I'll definitely remember not to run the engine for the update next time. -
SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available
1004ron replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I did not find any settings changed and my iPhone was still paired. Its poor that Ford offer no explanation of the update. I have a fairly long drive on a winding farm type road to my place of work, and always use the adaptive cruise control, and on some of the curves it will decelerate a little, and today on the way home it felt very erratic when regulating the speed in some of the bends - could this be a result of the update? -

Really, Ford couldn't figure out a way to do this without the engine running for up to 60 minutes !!!! -

The space used on my USB stick was 1.61GB Crazy that they specify 32GB - maybe the updates that include NAV maps need that size.
