  1. Window tinting will most certainly reduce the cabin temperature, but many, like myself, have the factory privacy tinting and not prepared to apply anything that's darker/illegal , and there's no way a 100% transparent coating on the windshield will reduce the cabin temperature. I would not consider tinting the front windshield. Maybe you should give a shade a try, ....... you might be surprised.
  2. Please post a link to that coating. I can understand how it would help in the rain, but don't understand how it will keep out the Texas sun rays.
  3. My 2017 Sport has 27K miles on it now and no issues with the PTU - I did the first PTU oil change at 5K and a second one at 15K miles, using Royal Purple.
  4. Here's my Covercraft. Sport parks in the sun all day at work, and when I get in the steering wheel isn't too hot to hold.
  5. I have no doubt that its a good product, but price and availability has me sticking with Mobil-1, which I've been using on my Harley and cars for decades with exceptional results.
  6. The point I'm making is that as yet we have no evidence that the Sport is indeed fouling anything similar to the pictures presented of other non-Ford vehicles, and once we know that, we can make an educated decision on the need to add an aftermarket catch-can. You could present argument that there's no harm done adding a catch-can whether we need it or not, but why not present it as such in the absence of actual model specific data. Can anyone confirm if the above is true for the Sport?
  7. It would be more credible if we posted reports and images of a Ford Sport in this thread.
  8. Could you post a few links to this research you did?
  9. Who 'can' confirm if our Sport incorporates the crankcase vent oil separator - if it does, that would explain why Beez reports that his expensive catch-can installation doesn't catch anything.
  10. I'll need a few reports confirming the performance of any of the catch-can systems mentioned in this thread before I claim "peace of mind". Do we have any evidence that the Sport has a "basic design flaw by Ford". or is it just hype and hearsay?
  11. I'd pull the wheels off and inspect the brakes - could be loose callipers, loose wheel lug nuts, ............
  12. By now you must have a few thousand miles on them - are they still doing good, and would you buy them again. I'm considering these, but all the fitment places around here are asking a fortune to fit tires not bought from them, so still need to figure out how I'll get that done.
  13. I'm very happy with the Covercraft® - UVS100™ Heat Shield more details on - https://www.carid.com/covercraft/uvs100-heat-shield.html But it doesn't fold up too compact for stowage.

    Gas Milage

I reset the trip meter every time I filled up and manually calculated the mileage/consumption and finding that the computer mileage was quite accurate, I no longer manually calculate it. My Sport has 26,500 miles on the clock and during winter I was getting 21~22 mpg, now that summer is here I'm getting 23~24 mpg - I was expecting it to be more economical in winter when the AC compressor isn't running.
  15. It doesn't "detect a person" , but it does detect an obstruction and will reverse, much the same as the power windows when they encounter an obstruction, such as a hand etc. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/vehicle-features/liftgate-and-trunk/power-liftgate-obstacle-detection.html
  16. Its closed on me a couple of times and all I did was brace myself and block the travel with my shoulder and it stops. It's been a while since it last happened, so maybe I should give it another try.
  17. The latest model 2018 Sport and it needed new wiper blades already? The OEM blades on my 2017 Sport are performing so well that I've decided to stick with them when the time comes to replace them.
  18. My 2017 Sport build date is Feb 2017 and had the drivers air bag recall done at my local dealership around June 2017 - just took a couple of hours. Should I expect a recall notice for the passenger air bag? A couple of years ago my company 2010 Ford Fusion went in for the gas tank recall - it needed a new gas tank and there were no parts available, so I drove a 2014 Fusion for 7 months while waiting for the gas tank.
  19. Cant help with the fan electrics. Does it overheat on the open road under load - if so, you're still going to have the overheating problem after you've resolved the fan electrics.
  20. Your oil looks better than mine did at 5K and 15K, and sure doesn't look like it was in need of a change. Your PTU looks different to mine and to @JSchneid His casing looks very different and his plugs are the same type of torx T50 as mine, with the drain on the underside. Odd that there's all this variation.
  21. I'm pretty sure that only my drain plug has a magnet. Good to hear that all models now have drain plugs - wonder if Ford is still claiming them to be lubricated for life.
  22. I'm pleased to report that I haven't had this "dialling O" since the Sync update a few months back.
  23. LOL at the title of the video, "Know the Warning Signs" - in the video they admit that there was no warning or symptoms.
  24. https://www.amazon.com/XINDELL-Microfiber-Windshield-Cleaning-Detachable/dp/B01CA0OVCU/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1526604211&sr=8-13&keywords=windshield+cleaner I use one like this, but you need to purchase at Walmart or AutoZone and check it out to confirm its the robust higher quality one - I dumped two that I bought online, then decided to inspect before I buy the next one, but that was some time ago and I cant recall where I bought it.
  25. With no evidence either way regarding an existing separator, and no inspection reports showing intake valve fouling, its not really possible to make a call on the need for a catch can on these engines.
