  1. Guess i'll have to wait for a call from retro solutions. In the mean time i checked all the grounds, still the same thing. If retro can't help maybe i will buy one of those cheap kits...lol. I really don't want to go back to stock, I love the brightness!
  2. I installed the kit complete with the harnesss 6 mos ago. I have the same problem with the right side light going out when i start the vehicle. To get it to come on i have to turn the lights off and on, kind of annoying to say the least. Anyway yesterday the same thing happened for the left side, only i couldn't get it to come back on until i shut the vehicle down and restarted it. Anyone know what i should look for to fix this? Other than that i like the kit, but it does seem to have a few problems. I phoned retro solutions, just have'nt heard back form them yet, i guess i don't feel like waiting if someone knows a quick fix..
  3. You would'nt have to pay $199.00 for an 8p anyway, I just picked up a used one from ebay for $75.00. I figure someone will be selling the 9p next year for about the same price. Things sould'nt change that much in a year unless you just have to have the latest.
  4. This post is for anyone installing a navigation radio in a non navigation vehicle with sync. I recently purchased a navigation radio from a lincoln mkx off ebay for 525.00, pt#8a1t-18k931-ca. for my 2008 ford edge. The antenna was 95.00 from amazon, which I later found cheaper, 75.00 from tasca ford parts. When I installed the radio THX came up on the screen. My subwoofer no longer worked, the volume could not be adjusted and 2 buttons on the steering wheel, voice and phone did'nt work. I took the radio to Chicago Parts & Sound in Wood Dale IL. to have it reprogramed for 100.00. I was informed that reprograming would not restore voice commands. For a total cost of 400.00 the radio was reprogramed to show the ford logo and get the subwoofer to work. The face of the radio was changed from lincoln silver to ford black and rewiring was done to restore voice commands. The steering wheel switch also had to be chaned to one from a navigation vehicle. The whole job took a little over an hour, so im guessing that the rewiring is minor? Anyway everthing works great, but you could save yourself some money if you find a radio from the same vehicle with the same features as yours, no reprogram costs. Total cost for this project was about a thousand dollars, still cheaper than two grand that the factory installed radio would be.
  5. My kit came with the harness for the ford edge. I'll try hooking everything up and see how it works out and if I need the anti flicker device. Thanks everyone for your help and advice.
  6. I just received my retro solutions hid kit (6000k). Do i need anything extra, or is it plug and play, I have auto on headlights. Please don't ask me to do a search, I did already, theirs a miilion pages!
  7. Thanks for the help, i'll be contacting this guy soon.
  8. I plan to purchase a lincoln mkx navigation radio for my 2008 ford edge off ebay, part#8tit-18k931-ca. I assume the radio will need to be reprogramed,? Does anyone know a place to perform this service? Did a seach already and found a link to a person on ebay, but the link only showed pages of navigation discs.
  9. They actually look pretty good, and a lot less work than painting the calipers. I have 22in five spoke wheels, so they show through good. Most people think I installed new brakes! My cars in the shop now, i'll post a picture whenever I get it back.
  10. I use 285/35/22 nitto 420s tires, they fill the wheel wells up and look great. With the correct offset wheels they don't protrude outside the wheel wells.
  11. I use 285s on 22in rims, h&r springs with no rubbing. Some members on this site run 275s on 20s with lowering springs and don't rub.
  12. I did'nt see it on the site, whats the part number? Will it allow me to put a 2008 ford nav. unit in a non nav. vehicle and retain sync? I've read that you lose the sync replacing a 2008 non nav. radio with a factory nav. radio.
  13. Not sure how much this will help, but I run a 285/35/22 on a 9.5 rim, 35mm offset. The tires don't rub anywhere or stick out and i'm on h&r springs.
