Traction Control & ABS lights stay on!
TheCanadian replied to TheCanadian's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have a FWD but definitly will get a AWD next time. -
Yes, I do. I had lots of problems with my Edge so I won't be surprised to be the first in this! The burning smell comes and goes and I had no smoke so it maybe something else. I'm not going to take it to service as I've been there every week for the last few months. I'm just glad I have a lease.

Thanks for this topic and the updates. I'm also getting the burning smell. (2007 SEL FWD)

I have lots of problems with my Edge also. I was told to write an official letter of complaint to Ford directly. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, very nice publicity.

I had so many problems with my edge that at one point I made a New Topic on it alone. In less than 6 months it's been to service more than 10 times. In the last month alone 2 ABS sensors broke. I'm thinking of taking it back.
-
The same thing happened to me. First the left ABS sensor broke and 2 weeks later the left. I had lot's of problem with my edge!

I have a FWD so winter tires was a must. My dealer got me Michelin Latitude Alpin HP (C$250 each) and I had no problem with all the snow we got here in Ontario. I really feel the difference. Also my ABS and Traction control are both "off" because of a sensor problem and I'm very happy to have these tires.

Mine is almost the same but on low is still warm, so I use that most of the time.

2008 Limited AWESOME in the snow!

Thanks again for the input. One of the wheel sensors was defective. They said it was very hard to detect. -
I had a few problems with mine also, been to the the service more than 10 times in only 12.000KM: Alarm was coming on during rain. Front windshield got scratched by the wiper blades ABS/Traction light are on all the time ... just to name a few I remember! (You can search the rest under my name!) But I still like the car, I have a very nice dealership so they always take care of everything fast, with a smile.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to the dealer last week and they said that the vehicle is probably "Learning", same as jmitchell ! But since the last snow, the both lights are on and not going off, so I'm taking it in today. I'll keep you updated. -
Engine like noise from under the back seats area
TheCanadian replied to TheCanadian's topic in Mods & Tech
Thanks for the feed back guys. Yes, the sound increases with the speed of the wheels but not with RPM or acceleration. It's been constant since it's started but I'll take it in. Thanks again -
I have 8000KM on my edge and recently noticed an engine like noise coming from under the back seats area. It can be heard only from inside and only when driving. It sounds like a motorcycle is following the car very closely. Any idea on what could this be? Could it be the wheels as this happens only when driving? Should I take it in or wait for the 10,000KM check-up? Thanks

Did you install anything (starter,alarm,...) after you bought it? That was the problem with mine, the starter box would get wet and tha alarm would go off! It was installed at Ford dealership but not in factory.
-
Thanks guys, the reseting did the trick! I thought it was showing the average MPG, but it shows the MPG at that minute!
-
Thanks for the tips. I'll try them and see what happens.

We did a long trip this week end (2000km) and decided to keep a log on MPG. I’m glad to say that the real fuel consumption is much better than the one on the INFO. My info showed our best and worst @ 13 and 15L/KM, by calculating log I got 8.2 and 9.5 ! I'm very happy about this but why the INFO is giving me the wrong numbers? http://www.tdiclub.com/misc/conversions.html
-
Not really, it's my 5th car and 4th SUV: (Nissan Patrol, Suzuki Grand V, Jeep W , Jeep Lib.) and none of them did this.
-
Yes, I drive mostly city. I'll start keeping a log.
-
You're very lucky. My MPG is getting worse since Summer and AC. My best was 13l/km and now I'm at 19l/km !
-
I have the same proble. I have to use the Foot Break all the time when I park. None of my old cars did this.

Great. Thank you for the fast reply.
