Mine's hard plastic also, with an insulating material underneath.

Lucky you live Hawaii brah... we left in 1960, when I was 8 and moved to Missouri, then to SoCal. Still got ohana and friends... we try go back every year for a month or so. Still, no same as livin' there. I'd give up SoCal... or anywhere else... in a heartbeat, still got island time in my blood. (lol)

The "photo is heavily "shopped". Among other "mods", I used P-shop to "paint" the calipers red. When I get around to it, I will be painting the calipers, I don't care much for the covers... and besides, the paint is so much less expensive. On another forum I'm on, folks have found the covers block air flow around sections of the calipers, which has led to elevated brake temperatures. Probably for around town driving, where there's not a lot of heavy braking, it might not be all that much of an issue, however, why take the chance... Just my opinion.

If the Edge intake system is like any other car I've owned, merely changing to a K&N drop in filter, will not increase to sound the intake produces. Factory intake systems are designed to be quiet...

2.0 ecoboost..how is working in the new Edge?
unca waldo replied to garrett62's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
I'm used to driving a 5.7 liter Hemi, so I was pretty... and pleasantly... surprised when we test drove the Eco-Boost 2.0. It got up and went, when I got into the throttle! It doesn't have the nice rumble of the V-8, but I can easily overlook that, considering the performance from such a small displacement engine. Of course, comparing an Edge Titanium to a Magnum R/T is like comparing an butter knife to a chainsaw... they're meant to do different things. However, on future road trips... probably the ONLY time I'll get to drive it... the nod will go to the Edge. -
Maybe I'm just old skool, but with a boosted motor, I'd rather err on the side of higher octane. Ignition knock, even just a tiny bit, can cause significant damage to pistons... and the damage can be cumulative. Yes, 87 octane is less expensive, and computers are controlling spark advance, retarding it when the sensors detect pre-ignition, but blowing a hole through the top of a piston, will end up costing a whole lot more, than the buck or two saved on each fill-up. Plus, there's the advantage of increased performance a boosted motor brings to the plate. I've always gone by what the owners manual stated as far as octane, but when an option is provided, I use the higher octane. For me, at least, the added cost is negligible vs. the peace of mind.

Film on 20 in chrome wheels
unca waldo replied to bubbadewsky's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
If your wheels are chrome, and not polished, you can clean them with window cleaner... I usually add a little extra ammonia to the mix. It'll cut through the grunge, without having to resort to gasoline or other nasty stuff. I usually put a coat of wax on the wheels at every wash, it only takes five minutes and even though brake heat evaporates the wax within a couple of days, it helps keep some of the stickier road grime from getting a good hold on the wheel. -
Just this last weekend, my wife, daughter and I went out to Villa Ford. We'd "shopped" on-line, pretty much knew which vehicle we wanted... a '16 Explorer Sport. I dealt with the Fleet Manager and we were able to do most of the mundane chores associated with buying a new vehicle, via telephone calls and E-Mails. Anyway, we... I... arrived, expecting to drive away in a beautiful 2016 Explorer Sport. We test drove the Explorer, liked the way it performed and returned to the dealership. The problem was, it was RED, not an obnoxious red, but a nice, deep metallic red... of course, my wife HATED it. Jim Saenz, the Fleet "guy" said, no problem and had a duplicate Explorer brought out, in Magnetic. The wife and daughter loved it... and, in this one, they discovered the electric, folding rear seats, Hurrah! So, we walk back into the showroom, on the way to the Fleet Office, when my daughter spies a metallic black, Edge Titanium, parked just off from the very center of the showroom floor. Ooo, ooo oo, she says, grabs my wife by the arm and they both take off. Next thing I know, they're crawling through the Edge, like a couple of 8 year olds, playin' on the "Jungle Gym" at school! They're opening and closing the rear hatch, all four doors are open and they're pushin' pokin' and pullin', every switch, button and lever they can find. I walk over and can see the glimmer in the wife's eyes... she's in LOVE! So, being the good husband and father I am, I walk into "Jim's" office, and before I can even say a word, he has the invoices and information on the Edge, pulled up on his computer. As it turns out, the Edge was driven by the owner's wife, she put on about 5,000 miles and you can imagine, it received the best possible care. The car had never been registered, so we got it as a "New" vehicle, with full warranty and every bell and whistle available. Even after all the hassle and work we put the folks at Villa Ford through, we were always treated with respect and graciousness. And besides, they gave us a killer deal on the Edge! The Edge will primarily my wife's car, so we all know how the saying goes... "Happy wife, happy life!" She's very, very happy... Based on my experience, I'd recommend anyone thinking about buying a new car, to see Jim Saenz at Villa Ford... he's good people.

Just a follow-up... apparently, I'm "getting used to" the brake feel. They still seems rather abrupt, but I'm beginning to get the feel. By comparison, after not driving it, I drove my '07 Magnum R/T today, and the difference in brake feel is amazing. Neither car is "bad", I just find the brakes on my Magnum so much easier to modulate. Of course, I've been driving it since 2007, so I know exactly what to expect.

We recently bought a '15 Titanium in black.... it is "new", never been registered, so it hasn't been subjected to the daily grind of life, and the subsequent pollution fall-out, in So Cal. Because it had been sitting for quite a while, the day after delivery, the dealer had me bring it back and they did a complete clay bar, polish and wax. I thought it looked good before, but that REALLY brought out the metallic in the paint. I'm a real stickler for maintaining the finish on a car, so it looks like with regular care... no spinning wheel car washes... the paint should stay looking good for a long time. To be honest, I think it's the best, factory paint job, I've ever seen.

Hi, new guy here, with a question about the brakes our new vehicle... we recently bought the car, a 2015 Titanium model, that hadn't been registered... so it's a "new" vehicle, though it has about 5,000 miles on the odometer. Apparently, it was the dealership's owner's ride for a while. Anyway, I did check "search" and didn't see anything directly related to what I'm experiencing... and that is, the brakes seem awful "grabby". They don't pull to the right or left, they're just not "linear", it's as if they are an "on/off" switch. Perhaps it's just a matter of adjusting to a new car, but I thought I ask and see if others have experienced this. Other than that, we couldn't be more pleased about this car... it rides, handles and performs as well, or better, than any of the "up market" brands we test drove. Thanks for any feed-back...

Greetings, I purchased, yesterday, an actual, factual, NEW 2015 Titanium Edge... black on black on black. I know the 2017 models are soon to be arriving, but somehow, someway, this one hung around the dealer. Anyway, I can't say I've ever been a Ford guy... last one I had was a '90 Mustang GT. But this ride changed my outlook! DANG!, this thing is sweet, and for a fairly large crossover, with a 2 liter motor, it scoots pretty dang well. I gotta say though, it looks like I'm gonna need to go back to school, to figure out all the bells and whistles this cruiser has! Needless to say, I'm going to, no doubt, be asking more than a couple of questions... probably half of which, will be relatively dumb. But hey, I new to Fords... Thought I'd include a shot of our new ride...
