Do you have a Sport? 20 or 21 inch wheels? I have a Sport with the 21's and it's still the smoothest riding vehicle I've ever owned (although I've had a lot of sports cars but I have owned a Lexus IS as well). What did you drive before in comparison?

I wonder what's going to happen with the lost production of the Flex? Is the MKT even going to continue on without it?

Hold on just to be clear I was only doing this test with leaving my drivers side door open and then moving to unlock and open the rear door (otherwise if you try it with the door closed and engine running you get the always adored double honk).

That would be very annoying especially since I'm sometimes getting my girls out of the backseat (they are still in booster seats). Although they are only in my Edge once every few weeks though since they ride mostly in my wife's mommy-mobile (2016 Mazda CX9).

I just tested it and even with child lock setting on, you should be able to get out with the car running (key in pocket) and open the rear doors. You can hear them unlock. Sounds like a door sensor issue. I even tried "stickin' my butt out" haha just to see if a little more distance from my pocket with the key to the door made a difference, and it did not. Worked every time.

It's not a matter of not believing. I said that I agreed that they can tweek compounds from an already developed tire (I.e. the Pirelli Scorpion Verde), just like your link referred to. However, Ford didn't "create" this tire from scratch based on their specific specifications. So you as well can choose not to believe me, it's fine. I have worked in the industry for a number of years so I know what I know and don't need to prove anything to anyone. Simply giving my educated opinion on the subject. -
Way to disable instrument cluster boot up on entry?
Burrcold replied to DBDRVN's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Not on the '16s with Sync 3, but you could on the 15's with MFT. -
It's fun being completely obsessed isn't it? Haha oh how my wife hates me. She's caught me on a number of occasions sitting in the car late into the night in our garage (while wear pj's) lol.

Welcome! You sound exactly like me. I did the same thing. Although I must have watched every possible YouTube video review out there! I actually still watch them lol.

For every TSB released, a corresponding Engineering Change Instruction has been issued for mass production. So in theory yes if the TSB actually fixes this issue, vehicles that are currently in production already have the same fix.

It's actually 11 settings if you count the clicks as you move it forward (my OCD is crazy so I know I like it at 6 clicks from the original position lol).

Anyways sorry I'm not trying to stir sh!t up here. To the original poster, like TheWizard said if you can find new tires that fall within OEM specs and you confirm that the rims will fit it's probably your cheapest option. Otherwise sell your Escape package and just buy new ones (you bought a Sport so I would go up to at least a 19" rim if you can with a more sport oriented winter tire). -

Example from your sheet 295/40/R20 has two different load ratings. If you have a car that requires this size, if you used a site like Tirerack and put your vehicle details in, they wouldn't give you both as an option. It would be known which vehicle each load type was made for. -

I'm not sure what your point is. The load is identified as being different. I'm saying that if the OEM tire had a different load versus the OEM off the shelf (purchase as a replacement) that would be scary which is why I said same "CAR/tire brand/make". If the tire is the same size but different load, the description will say "Bentley" or "Porsche" or "Tesla" beside it. Since all of these cars can have the same required tire and size but different load (obviously). -
Maybe a stupid question but is her headrest possibly set too far forward?

Of course they can but the load rating from a "manufactured set" versus the "OEM set" you buy off the shelf is not going to be different. They might have a slight compound difference like was mentioned in the article but not load. If you can show me an example of this I will STFU right now (but also be quite scared if it's even possible to having varying load ratings for the same car/tire brand/make). -

And this is directly from Tirerack.com: "When searching by vehicle, load ranges are shown in ascending alphabetical order. When you choose "recommended" you will see the load range(s) appropriate for your vehicle." One of the "recommended" selections from Tirerack is one with a 101 load rating. -

To comment on your article from PM, yes the manufacturer can specify slight compound changes but they can't change the load setting of the same offering in the same make/model (it would have to be an entirely different tire!). -

Oh my. Okay so are you trying to tell me that the Pirelli Scorpion Verde's that come on the car where designed by Ford? Uh huh. They were out before this vehicle was even produced. -

That's total BS. So you think Tirerack or any other tire place is just showing you the same size tires with no filter for load acceptance? That means I could purchase tires that they say fit my vehicle but are in fact unsafe? Is that what you are trying to say? And if an accident was caused by this misunderstanding of their selection of "what would fit" do you not think they would be opening themselves up to lawsuit after lawsuit? No, they have a set parameter of tire selection and tolerances for each make and model based on the vehicle specification. Call them and ask. Ask if they would recommend one of the tires they list as an alternative to the OEM (but happens to have a lower load rating than the OEM). -

Those are all off the shelf tires sorry to inform you. They weren't "designed from the manufacturer". They choose what is best suited for the application and enter into purchase agreement with the supplier. How do I know this? I worked almost 10 years for the largest OEM parts supplier in the world and yes we supplied to Ford. You can think what you want, but reality is that you are wrong. -

They went with the tire they did on the 21's because it's basically the cheapest option available in that size (while still maintaining decent quality and eco rolling resistance to help with mpg's). Do you not consider Tire Rack reputable? You used them to get your own information. Well go on there and look at what they recommend as alternatives to the OEM tire...yup more than half have a 101 rating, which is not only lower than the 105 you think is needed for the 21's but it lower than the 102 you concluded was the minimum requirement for the standard Edge. -

Waldo that is not true. Just because the load rating on the OEM tire is 102 does not mean that it's the vehicle's load minimum for a tire. Seriously Julie just go into a reputable tire shop and discuss it with them. They have lots of tools and resources to determine if they will work or not.
