  1. Yeah, you're right. I was just trying to think of how not to get the car wet. Lazy man's way. Heh.
  2. ..or you could put your hand behind the mirror to clock the reflecting sensor to initiate a wiper sweep. Wouldn't that do it also, and save getting the car wet?
  3. That's good to know! I emailed all my rebate info to Exxon/Mobil after my purchase at WalMart. Glad to hear they will honor the rebate on the WM purchase. Since E/M is headquartered here in Irving that avoids going over to their HQ and having a corrective interview with Darren Woods!!!
  4. Maybe the relay is kaput? Try pulling the relay and reseating it. If not, maybe replace it. Any electrical connections that you had to mess with when you replaced the booster? Re-check all electrical connex. Sorry I cannot be more help.
  5. There are numerous sites at which you can get the original Monroney Sticker, it just depends upon year. Just ask your Uncle Google and they will come up. But be aware that some of those sites will flood your inbox with ads and potentially sign you up for stuff you don't want (or maybe you do.)
  6. I always do a 4 tire rotation when I rotate my tires, ie. LF to LR, LR to RF, RF to RR, RR to LF. I did that procedure when I had my 4x Explorer and I intend do follow that procedure with my AWD Edge, All 4 tires are the exact same - Goodyear Eagle RS-A P245/50R/20 Speed Rating H. I disagree that Goodyear is the "cheapest brand out there." The G'year Eagles are very highly rated tires, some of the industry's best sellers, and are OEM on some very pricey high end cars. Does Goodyear make some cheap tires - sure they do for people who want to buy cheap tires. So does every other tire maker. Are there better tires out there? Sure there are. Some people say Pirelli's are the best tires money can buy, some say they are junk. Same with any product. But to say that Goodyear is the cheapest brand out there when tomorrow I can go to "Speedy Pete's MegaStore Tire Outlet" and get a set of "SuperZoom ElectraDynamo P245/50R/20's" balanced and mounted for $259.95 is ridiculous. Also, Goodyear will rotate your tires free of charge at any Goodyear store in the country even if you are not there for any type of service, I believe that Sams and Costco will do this also. That said, I always buy tires in sets of four's. If rotated properly at the appropriate intervals and kept properly inflated, they should wear evenly as long as the vehicle is operly aligned, is in good operational order, and operated under normal driving conditions. XXXXX Mac - is 4/32nds pretty close to 2/16ths? What about 1/8th? I don't think my Harbor Freight Digital Caliper depth gauge with handy carrying case and extra battery (only $11.99 with the 20% coupon!) can handle that precision!! (Jes' kiddin' Mac. Jes' kiddin')
  7. Smokin' looking vehicle, too. Stand up guy for posting the Monroney sticker also and laying out the deal clearly. Buyer knows exactly what's he's getting into with no "gotcha's" after the fact. Good job.
  8. Hey MacT, you're going 10k miles on the PTU oil changes? I was thinking 20k would be sufficient? Fortunately when I had my shop change it (at I assume the first change since I bought it at 65k miles) they said the fluid was still flowing nicely and there were no black globs in the vent tube. Hopefully I got lucky!!
  9. I'm going to go full OEM but I do think I will upgrade the bulb to brighter. Plunger switch with bulb is 8A5Z-14413-A and the connector is 3U2J14B475EHA. Strangely, Rock Auto has the connector but not the plunger/bulb assy. Went to my local dealer today for the plunger/bulb and no one has them in stock. I'm going to order from Tasca or FPG.com. I'll then have to figure out how to cipher up the mount for it. Shouldn't be too difficult. I'll take power from the cig lighter in the pass leg area and then ground it somewhere.
  10. Yes, I am in the process of retro'ing an OEM glove box light with OEM electricals into my '11 Edge. I know there are other ways to light up the cabin and glove box, but I just LIKE a glove compartment light.
  11. Omar, thanks VERY much for the pix!! I have the connector on order and I am going to run by my local ford dealer to check on the light/switch. My Edge does not have the extra plastic tab on the left side of the glove box where the switch mounts, but I'm sure I can Texas engineer something. Thanks again for the pix!
  12. Reboot, Pretty Please: Would any MKX owner be so kind as to inform me where exactly the glove box light is mounted? I have googlesearched, utoobed it, and checked other forums all to no avail. Again, thanks for any feedback. If there are still no responses, I understand and will quietly sulk off feeling empty and abandon, never to ask again. <sigh>
  13. The Edge is what it is, and the MKX is what it is. In general, they are pretty much the same vehicle with the MKX being a bit more luxurious, offering more niceties (like a GLOVEBOX LIGHT, <R U LISTENING, FORD?>) and the 3.7L engine as standard that only comes in the Edge Sport. All that for more money. If one thinks that the extra $$ provides extra value, then buy the MKX. If not, buy a Ford. I personally don't think you could go wrong with either one. I bought the Edge because it was the trim level I was looking for (Limited AWD 301a), in the color I was looking for (Tux Black), at the price I was looking for, and it was at the Lexus dealer that I had previously bought 3 Lexus' at (my wife's!) so I knew that the dealership experience would be upscale (it was.) If a similarly equipped, priced, and color MKX had been available at that dealership I would have bought it. I guess I am being verbose in saying whether you buy or trade, get what you can comfortably afford and what you want.
  14. I was looking to replace my '98 Explorer with 213k miles and wanted to stay with Ford or Lincoln. Always got great service from FoMoCo products. I saw a low miles '11 Edge Limited AWD in Tux Black available and bought it. I would have gone with an MKX if had one been available equipped that way I wanted when I was looking. The Edge happened to be in the right place at the right time.
  15. You can buy primer, paint, and clear coat from automotivetouchup.com. I got a quote to have a shop do it and it was around $350.00. That's insane so I did it myself.

    Zmax

    Yup, +1 on Costco.

    Zmax

+1 on snake oil, as are most additives. Techron has some benefits but still is probably marginal at best. I Sea Foamed my '98 Explorer once. AWESOME smoke show but didn't perceive it did a darn thing. Just use a Top Tier gas and a good synth/synth blend oil and filter, and change at appropriate intervals.
  18. OK, well, I've id'd the switch I need with the part # but can anyone tell me WHERE the thing is mounted? I'm assuming on the upper lip of the enclosure (not the door) somewhere. Left side, right side? Having a tough time figuring out the location. Thanks again for any feedback.
  19. Installed the brightlites.com LED puddle lights today. Got to wait till tonight to see how bright they are. Also purchased a 5g 5w-20 jug of M1 with the M! filter for an upcoming oil change. $15 rebate on oil and filter combo. Edit/Update: Wow! The LED puddle lites are >really< bright! Fantastic. Highly recommended if you want/need more illumination for entry/exit of the vehicle. My bonus license plate leds are on backorder so I'll have to wait for those but if they are as bright as the puddles, I am really looking forward to getting them installed!
  20. I'm an old school guy. If I could get Cragar Super Sport 61G's in 20" I'd be a happy dude.

    Upgrading ?

Tuxedo Black was the only color I was interested in when I purchased my Edge. Other colors look nice, but I just gotta' have black. I painted my grill to match and it looks great. Besides, it matches my motorcycle (black, is there another color for a bike?) and it really looks good when I'm wearing my white chef jacket with black buttons!!
  22. Chipster, I posted a similar heads-up in the thread about the Mobil-1 Annual Protection (25k) oil. Heading over to WM tomorrow for a 5g jug of 5w-20 EP and a M1-212 EP filter. The oil and filter come to about $40 and with the $15 rebate that brings a Mobil-1 full synth oil change to about $25. Not a bad deal.
  23. Omar, thanks for the response! Yep, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
  24. See post #13. Fuse #41 is a 'power on start' switched fuse. Works perfect for my dash cam.
  25. MKX owners - can anyone tell me which years of MKX's have a glove box light? I am a lowly Edge owner and don't have the nicety of a glove box light like the uber-mobile MKX!! I would like to retro an MKX glove light and switch into my Edge. I have read some other threads about ciphering up a switch and light from scratch but I figure if it's already been engineered why try to re-invent the wheel? I'm thinking about maybe seeing if my local pick-a-part yard has any MKX's that I could pull one from. (Heavens no!! There couldn't be any MKX's in salvage yard!!) If that is not an option, I'll just order a switch and light from a local dealer. Help a brother out!! Thanks in advance for any responses.
