  1. I think it's naming convention. Ford has referred to these as puddle lamps for as long as I can recall. My '98 explorer had "puddle lamps". They serve the purpose of what you would call "security approach lights" by lighting the ground near the front doors when the key fob is pressed. They are standard on SEL-up including the sport.
  2. I've occasionally been hearing what sounds like the cargo door glass rattling almost like it's not shut, it's not often and likely could be me not shutting it firmly. The into real rattle is this stupid one near driver tweeter that I cannot figure out for the life of me
  3. The accessory mode is starting to annoy me a bit now, I often sit in car at lunch for some time. When it was 90+ degrees I didn't mind running the car. Now with weather cooling down I don't need my car running to play the radio! As far as the panoramic roof, I've always stayed away from sunroofs of any type. It's a giant window on the top of your car. Anyone whose ever had one has seemed to have one problem or another with these things regardless of the make pre-panoramic frenzy or not. Either it leaks, doesn't shut, bad seal, needs maintenance. I'll keep the $1500 or so it costs and get different options or use it for upgrades. I just don't trust having a glass roof on my vehicle
  4. I believe titanium has illuminated sill plates everything but SE has puddle lamps as beez said that shine down near doors. The lights themselves are under side mirrors. You can replace these with LEDs quite easily and adds a very nice touch to the car, very bright
  5. Well that's one way to do it. Using my method I had both out and replaced in 10 mins.
  6. I did it the opposite way, disengage that clip first. The connection side is where I got to last. I doubt it matters, but to me it made more sense to disengage the clip prior to pulling down and end on the side with the wires.
  7. It actually has three memory settings, although I believe 3rd person has to press physical button in vehicle as opposed to using the fob. May be able to work if you bought a third fob though?
  8. I used my thinnest, smallest flathead bit. Like the one from a watch repair kit, that thin. Once you pop the clip and have it where it feels wedged. Start on the clip side and get the screwdriver angled so it goes up and over the top of the puddle light and push down. I did this every quarter inch or so like opening a paint can if that makes sense? By the time you get to the opposite side of the clip(where the two wires snap on) it should either fall out or be able to be wiggled the rest of the way. I highly suggest doing LEDs here, much brighter and more usable light hits the ground. The stock ones seem to just light up the side of the door
  9. I've always heard Bluetooth degrades audio quality. But not sure if that is Bluetooth of yesteryear or it's still the case. Personally unless you have a insane audiophile setup in your vehicle. I highly doubt you will be able to notice that much of a difference with stock speakers. If you can.you should be upgrading your speakers anyways! Anyone with that good of an ear wouldn't keep stock speakers
  10. Hmm interesting I've honestly never looked at what lights up on the back of my vehicle at night. Haven't had much night driving with the long summer days
  11. I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to describe? Could you be a little more descriptive? I am intrigued lol
  12. Ok, I don't know why but shipping from Estonia made me second guess. Also saw this same tool being shipped from Italy, UK, and Poland. Wish someone here shipped them
  13. Omar where are you located? I saw that one but its shipping from Estonia? How long did it take to arrive
  14. Well I tried to mod my device to add MS-Can ability and it appears to be broken lol. When I flipped the switch I put in the car shut off and threw a wrench. I cleared the code in HS mode, but it kept doing it. So I need to find a new tool. Are there any ms/hs can devices for under $50? If anyone could send a link to one. Everything I found is mod your own(which I tried) or in some country I'm not comfortable lurchasing from. Aka UK(customs would kill the deal) and some place I've never heard of that screams scam. I definitely had more options via computer version.
  15. That's not a sustainable number. Nor is a 15 mile trip a good representative of MPG. My gauge always shows 26-28 when I first reset and slowly goes down to 22. Works its way back up to 24 with my driving and usually settles around 23.5.
  16. That makes sense, I thought that they used to put the Foam underneath the plastic cover though?
  17. I had to pop the mirrors off to add front facing turn signals on my f150. There really wasn't much towards the bottom of mirror besides the plate the mirror attaches too. With that said I'd do what enigma said and pop it off. Two things though. Start on passenger side if you have auto dim on driver side and screw up those pieces of glass are way more expensive. I'm assuming if you have BLIS there may be some extras. I had better luck when I popped mine by not only using the mirror controller to bring mirror towards the car (if that makes sense) but also up. Used my long thin flathead to pop the tabs using a flashlight to see them better. YouTube ford mirror removal it will make much more sense
  18. So while I was swapping my headlights to HID today, I set a tool down on engine cover, went to pick it up and thought the cover felt strange...touched it again and what do you know. It's FOAM! Anybody else notice this yet? I was expecting at least a plastic cover, but instead I was met with a material with the consistency to my kitchen sponge. Guess I won't be cleaning that ever . Can't imagine what would happen if it gets wet
  19. Yea my first tank (I'm assuming with that low miles it's your first). I got 13 mpg on a 3.5 v6. Getting 23.5 now. Not saying you'll get those numbers with the 2.7, more of a gauge at how drastict it can change after a few Fill ups
  20. How many miles are on the new car?? I gave mine 3 tanks of gas before even taking the mpg readings with a grain of salt. It needs to break in
  21. I'll look again haven't seen much besides diagnostics / code clearing and ability to see some data. Was under the impression id be able to edit stuff like you have done. If not guess I'll have to live with it. Can't justify that price tag. Sounds cool though! Seems like I need to use computer and not phone app, and quite possibly either need to modify my tool or buy a different one to access MS-CAN. Sounds like a fun project! Interested to see if I can get this to work
  22. I was more curious on how to do this with my current tool purchased and either an app or software. Not looking to spend $1500 to change a few menus.
  23. Brings me back to the days of my used 98 explorer with no keypad code. After removing plastic panel in cargo area and using a retractable little mirror to reach all the way back to the wheel well, I was able to read off one number at a time. They literally don't want you to find that number. This should be a pass the kindness on type thing!! If you trade your car in give them the darn card that has the number! On the 16s a simple engine start/shut off with both fobs, one at a time inside the center console will cause the sync 3 screen to display the factory code. At least ford has realized what a pain getting a used car is to use this feature
  24. So I got my device today, plugged it in and it works with the forscan lite app. But I'm not able to change anything literally can just look at all the options?? The only thing I can change is something called "precision decimal digits"? I changed it on a few things and it didn't do anything. First time using one of these really have no clue what I'm doing nor did I have a ton of time today unfortunately
  25. How did you do all the software stuff? I purchased a wifi OBD port plug in device and downloaded the Forscan Lite app (costs $5.99). I'm able to see a bunch of the modules but there isn't a way to change any settings, nor did I see things like climate, global close. Etc. Do I have to use my computer instead? To be honest I only had a bit of time today. But I wasn't hopeful with this app.
