Interesting info, thanks! Not my style but I can appreciate everyone's eye is different on the color spectrum. How else would we see those puke green Kia Sol's that were big for a bit

How to make your chrome wheels look amazing
Tjm623 replied to Pcfithian's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
That looks great! I've used mothers chrome/metal cleaner and gotten same results. It comes in a little jar. I rub it in like wax and then wipe clean. I use it on the chrome on front end of previous vehicles too like my f150s bumpers. It'll get rid of even the little oxidation spots you sometimes get with these wheels. Literally have yet to see if not remove something! -
Sharp color and rims. Like the tint too what percent up front? I'm tempted to do 35% as I believe that'll match fords privacy (it did on an older ford I had). But the only time I ever got a ticket for tint was on a white car...with 35% I'll probably be a good citizen and get crappy 50% up front and leave the rear alone. Tinting over the privacy glass has always been too dark for me.

I'll have to check, I haven't put any favorites in there yet. I'm curious what would happen if you used voice commands to save destination "John smith" and have johns address in your phone?

Not sure if it's 100% leather (can you ever really know these days?) '16 SEL here, what I do know is the "leather" is much softer and comfy than my '14 f150s leather *cough* vinyl... That stuff was so cheap feeling and you'd be stuck/sweating on it in a mere moment. My edge has ebony and even on 90 degree day it doesn't feel as hot or sticky. I really think it looks and feels great as well as the steering wheel. It's definitely got a leather feel to it

I test drove one and ended up with metallic white. I was coming from tuxedo black f150, amazing color detail when waxed it was practically like looking in a mirror. The other 364 days it looked dirty. I like blue, but was not thrilled with TGTBB, it literally looks like a pair of denim jeans to me. They could have called it denim blue as far as I'm concerned. I like the switch to white, much easier to hide water spots and what not. I wish they had a few more color options on the '16 edge. The black looks nice, wouldn't touch another black vehicle though. I think the metallic white looks classy, and so does the red and kona blue. Don't know what color I wish they had, but none of them screamed I need that color, like tuxedo black did.

Accessory position, i.e. ignition off, radio on (for a drivein)
Tjm623 replied to David Crozier's topic in 2015 Edge & MKX
I don't think it's a weak battery, I think that's how system is set up. I didn't even think about it for a drive in! I literally just read the entire manual Friday (slow day at work). There is definitely a page or two on accessory mode / a time limit that it runs. I'd check glossary and see if u can find it. -
Wiper annoyance
Tjm623 replied to Frisco1522's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Agree on both parts. I hate the front wiper motion. It is so strange, I also have never accidentally hit the rear, it's actually hard for me to do even when I want to use it! It's not very intuitive if you ask me -
DRL low beam or high beam
Tjm623 replied to Val Stanis's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
If you shut this feature off via menu will the LED signature lamps still be on? I wish they used the turn signals like my f150 did...I feel like the using the actual low beam has premature burnout written all over it. If you do a HID kit for the halgon setup, what happens to DRL? Does it try to use them at lower wattage? I can't imagine that's good for those bulbs. Or are u forced to shut them off via options in order to use said kit -
What happens if you hold the voice command button for 2-3 seconds? (May be a little longer) When my phone is connected this activates Siri instead of sync lady. I also have a button on screen if I go to the Phone section of the screen. I know you probably don't have the touch button, but the long press of voice command steering wheel button may still be able to recognize you are trying to get to your phones voice search instead of the cars

Displaying Cell Phone Contacts
Tjm623 replied to Rocketboots's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I can't remember the exact number, but manual talks about a certain number of contacts being able to be stored in syncs memory. It is around 2000. You may be over the limit and so when you do dial one it still can find it via your phone, but doesn't have the memory to index a search that large. Check the manual regarding phone contacts -
Possible? I'm sure. If a hacker wants it they can get something. Although I doubt someone that smart is also in the business of 30k auto theft lol. They wouldn't need to hack the app for VIN, it's quite visible on the car dash. FWIW my wife has sync connect and to get into the screen that controls remote start, unlock you have a pin similar to an iPhone lock screen or the option to use fingerprint. Doubtful someone will go through all that trouble to try a stealth steal. At that point I'd think tried and true "give me your keys and no one gets hurt" would be less of a hassle. LOL

Sounds like we got the exact same one color and all! Suggestion would be read the sync manual. Tons of commands I didn't realize. Including telling her to change temp, pulling up a weather radar/or five day forecast. Asking about sports scores....local gas prices, or traffic alerts. All of these are done through Sirius traffic link FYI. I've also enjoyed sport mode, it doesn't shift up for you and will let you redline so make sure you don't do that, but it feels much more peppy to me. Haven't done anything yet, besides adding the OEM bumper guard and weather mats they accidentally gave me for free lol. I'm planning on replacing license/puddle lamps with LEDs and possibly doing the HID headlight kit. Little known feature but if you click unlock and then click and hold for about 4/5 seconds. It'll roll your front windows down to vent car on hot day. Sadly it won't roll them back up like other ford models. The sync 3 is my favorite part, sat in car for 45 minutes going through all the options. And on dash (right side screen). If you select navigation regardless of if you've Inputted a route, it'll show road names and speed limits for the current road you are on. Have fun!

Considering a used 2015 SEL or Titanium, please help...
Tjm623 replied to reinko's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
No problem, it's a nice looking vehicle that's for sure! My wife just got the 2017 escape, seems that may be in your price range. Not sure if your trying to go for a different body style this time around but still a thought. -
Considering a used 2015 SEL or Titanium, please help...
Tjm623 replied to reinko's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
From the sounds of people on this forum, the 15 v6 seems to have some issues... I'd be weary of getting into something that I'm not sure what was or wasn't fixed yet. Throttle body, PTU, water leaks to name a few. That being said I just bought a '16 SEL v6 and love it so far! Read up on '15 issues and take to independent mechanic have all those things looked at closely and then make the decision -
Sync 3 2016 upgrade to CarPlay
Tjm623 replied to tpm419419's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
My wife has this in her escape we just got. I'm not sure...it sits in one of her cubbys under the cargo floor and has two different wiring harnesses attached. If those wires aren't there(I doubt they are) you may have a hard time trying to rig the modem up. It is pretty nice though. Much better than having to use fob to do it in range. Plus being my wife's vehicle I have it on my phone as well, gives me ability to check up on car without having to drive it regularly. I can see fuel, miles and I believe it'll send messages when maintenance is due. Much easier way to keep track of both vehicles -
Was there somewhere you found this or did dealer tell you? That would be awesome! My wife's new escape gets 5 years of sync connect for free.

2015-16 Bumper Protector.....What do you have?
Tjm623 replied to WingNut's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
I just got the ford one, granted it was a free toss in from dealer as the exact same model I test drove had it and mine did not. They couldn't understand why I was making a fuss for it. If car A has something and you are trying to sell me but I don't like the color... And Car B is literally identical minus an accessory add on, I don't think it's absurd to request that car b matches car A's accessories when the window stickers are identical! I'm assuming it's still better than nothing being there correct? My wife just got a '17 escape too and the entire inside bumper area is plastic when the door is open. This was my deciding factor on her car becoming the "dog mobile" -
No it looks like it's one that gets "popped" with a lever from inside can, in reality u just push on the fuel door and it opens.
-
How long do you get the travel link for free? I really like the features, but between that, Sirius radio(I think it's a separate charge?) it's hard to justify almost 20$ monthly payment for some things my phone already does. I'm hoping it's a decent free trial from dealer

Cat back kits for AWD: Old Topic - New Thread
Tjm623 replied to MikeKiloXrayOhNiner's topic in Mods & Tech
To each their own like you said. FWIW I gave up on exhaust on v6 after putting a flow master on a explorer 4.0 V6. It just made it sound like a want to be v8 when accelerating and like I had a rusted out exhaust when idling. Neither was amazing and just reminded me every time I heard it I wish I had a v8. These things have some pick up but they're not sports cars. I've yet to hear a v6 exhaust that made me go WOW! I just don't think the edge (let alone a Lincoln) were made for those kinds of modifications. But that's just me. If I had to pick I personally rank muffler brands. 1.Gibson 2. FlowMaster 3.magnaflow. Not knocking you for wanting to mod I totally get having that itch. I'd look to drop that money into something else if it was me though. -
Leather seats ceramic color maintance
Tjm623 replied to t0lkman's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
There is a leather cleaner that starts with an "L" Lexol? Maybe. I can't remember but that stuff is great. Two options there is a cleaner spray, as well as a conditioner for after or for in between cleans. Helps keep leather soft
