I've used Chemical Guy's Wheel wax on them & it doesn't help. Any other suggestion for a sealant? I figured with the low mileage on the car & it not being a track car, simply changing the pads would be all that's necessary. I mean literally all 4 corners deal with excessive brake dust, the fronts are worse than the rears obviously, but this is ridiculous. Guess it's a wait & see kinda thing.

I been looking around for pad upgrade as the stock pads coat the inside & outside of the wheels in like a grease like substance. I'm pretty sure that the pads are really cheap & putting out a crap ton of brake dust. The Edge has slightly over 13,000 & I've cleaned the wheels AT LEAST 10 times probably more in the past year of ownership. I've tried wheel wax & it doesn't help. Figured I'd change the pads out since front & rear should be around $100. Problem is, new vehicle, less options. I've been looking at Centric & Hawk as I've had great experience with then in the past, but i know a ceramic pad is going to give off less dust. At this point, I'm willing to try nearly any brand that will provide slightly better braking & hopefully a lot less dust. According to Centric, there's a part # 105.18180, but nothing is available at this time. According to Hawk, there's nothing available, even for a 2015. According tirerack.com, there's pads available, but seem to be for the previous gens. I'm pretty sure that brakes were redesigned on the 2015's & up, so i think that there's nothing currently available for the latest Edge's out of my preferred brands. So, i guess my question is, has anyone had any success with replacing their current pads? I know that it's a long shot, but figured it was worth a shot.

You should hear the fuel pump prime the system before you actually start the car. Move the key to the run position (the 1 before you engage the starter) & you should hear the fuel pump turn on. There's also a reset button somewhere inside the car. I believe it's in the passenger side floorboard on the outside panel.

Where on 71 is the speed limit 80?

What does your screen say? Which way is north? You may have to push the compess on the screen to get it NOT to show map as North being up

2008 Limited AWD rear caliper bracket question.
lildisco replied to Shhlogan's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Your bracket probably needs to be replaced. If you haven't already done so, they probably are really dirty & need to be cleaned. Try taking a small brush & see if there's any rust/dirt in there. If they look clean, you're definitely going to need a new caliper bracket. My mom's 2012 fusion had to have 1 replaced last year & was only $40 or so. Sounds like you stripped the threads out on the bracket to be honest -
Depends on the quality of fuel you're using. Gas isn't gas anymore. Look into Top Tier fuel & see if there's a station around you. http://www.toptiergas.com Other factors are tire pressure, how hard you accelerate, ambient air temp, are you using a/c, etc. I know in my 2016 SEL 2.0 Ecoboost, the owners manual claims that the gas mileage is going to be all over for the 1st 2,000 miles, i believe. I know that our Edge averages about 23-24 in winter with winter mix gas & 25-26 on summer mix. I know that 3.5 V6's average around 17-19 http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/edge/2016?engineconfig_id=102&bodytype_id=&submodel_id= 2.7L Edges seem to average less, but there's not too many people in Sports tracking their mileage compared to the others: http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/edge/2016?engineconfig_id=49&bodytype_id=&submodel_id=

I would definitely love to hear the turbo more. One day, I'll investigate the turbo inlet pipe & see if it has a silencer on it in my 2.0.

Because they're on the dash underneath the speedometer? The shifter should be in the same general location for PRNDS

That might be awhile. The tube from the intercooler that connects to the bottom of the intake manifold is a pain in the arse to get back on. Didn't take too long to get off, just a pain to get back on, at least for me.
-
Gonna have to wait almost 2 years for that outcome. We usually put about 12-13,000 a year on it. It's definitely catching stuff from re-entering the intake. I'm just glad it's in the can & not put back into the engine.
-
Ask & ye shall receive. Roughly 700 miles since the last time the can was drained. There's a little bit still in there, but i think that it's some residual stuff that i couldn't get clean before. Not the very best pics, but definitely less oil/crap in the intake manifold & Throttle Body.

2.0 ecoboost..how is working in the new Edge?
lildisco replied to garrett62's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
Got better mpg's on the way up from southern Ohio, but there was a lot less wind & weather. Car said i averaged 26.8mpg,but calculated was 25.7mpg. Remember that here in Ohio, we're still on winter mix fuel. We also were in some stop & go traffic at times as well. I'll probably drain the catch can this weekend & see what it caught through 2 tanks, roughly 700 miles. -

So far, no real change in fuel economy. Car says I'm at 25.6mpg. It's a 300 mile round trip, so we'll see what we get when we get back to town. BUT, i would like to add that it was very windy on our way down. We battled a snow storm when we were leaving home, got an hour away from home & delt with rain & about another hour later, dense fog. Ambient air temps were hovering around freezing most of the trip till the last hour, then was around 35. I will say at this point, mpg's seem to be not effected. Maybe i caught the coking in time to prevent any more problems from happening? Only time will tell. -

Will do. Keep in mind that premium fuel doesn't necessarily mean that it's a Top Tier fuel. Read up on it here: http://www.toptiergas.com I would recommend changing your oil ASAP & switch to a full synthetic. I believe that the factory oil is synthetic blend. Plus you get a lot of the 'break in' stuff out & fresh clean oil in. As for the Catch Can, all depends on the dealer. Some are more understanding than others. Most will understand its purpose, others just want to make a buck. You could always ask your preferred dealer & get their thoughts. They may want to install the product & should take around an hour and a half to 2 hours to install. Worth every penny in my book -
WeatherTech splash guards vs Ford OEM splash guards

I don't know why there wouldn't have been an OEM option. My 2016 has them & i don't think they redesigned them in 2017 -
2.0 ecoboost..how is working in the new Edge?
lildisco replied to garrett62's topic in 2.0L EcoBoost
All depends on that right foot, what grade/quality fuel you're using (Top Tier Preferred), winter mix fuel, tire pressures, driving style etc. Most people forget that this is a turbo engine & is around full boost around 2,300 RPM (Don't have the exact figures in front of me) & need to 're-learn' how to drive in order to get the best MPG's out of the 2.0 Ecoboost. Accelerating to stop lights/signs is a very good way to burn fuel in these things. Just keep an eye on the fuel economy mode on the left side of the Speedometer & you'll see what i mean when you accelerate to stop. If you gradually get up to speed & coast to a stop sign, you're MPG's go way up. Anticipating stop lights or 'knowing' the cycle is also a good way to increase MPG's as you're not wasting fuel idling when you're getting 0 MPG's. I've also seen a 2-4 MPG difference between a Top Tier station & a non Top Tier Station. Gas just isn't gas any more. Different Gas Stations have different additives in the fuel & some are worse than others. Speedway Gas Stations are the worse & I avoid them at all costs unless it's an emergency to get me a few miles up the road. When my wife drives the car, she can't get much above 25-26mpg in the summer on the highway. When I drive, we get closer to 28-29. In the winter, she can barely get 23-24, but i get 25-27. We're taking a road trip over the weekend & it'll be the first road trip with my Oil Catch Can installed, so maybe we'll see an improvement there as well. -
Here's a link to the Catch Can install that I did on my 2.0 Ecoboost, Post #21 is the actual install pictures. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22063-oil-catch-can-on-the-20l-ecoboost/page-1 Here's what it caught after around 400 miles with the Catch Can installed:

Not too far away, I'm in Oberlin & go out to Strongsville every so often. Nice to see some 'enthusiasts' around -

WeatherTech splash guards vs Ford OEM splash guards
lildisco replied to scaredycat's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I installed the OEM front & rear splash guards. Total time was under 30 minutes. Only 2 holes need to be drilled on the fronts, per the instructions. The rest are really easy reusable push pins Has really made a difference with dirt and debris getting into the bottom of the front doors. -
Doesn't appear to be a charcoal filter. I don't have the filter any more & i'm too lazy to look at the filter in the car, but I want to say that the part #'s were the same between the two filters. Maybe in the next few days I'll pop open the glove box & compare it with the above picture. The owners manual on my 2016 does call for a FP-71

Factory Part # is FP-71 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22115-check-that-cabin-air-filter/?do=findComment&comment=166419
