The load of the Navigation software took 58 minutes to complete. It is NA 1 18 revision. Ford should have provided this first revision for free to all Model Years since it took them 5MY to offer a Navigation revision and the maps that came with the new vehicals were 2 years old when purchased.

Ford finally released a update for their Sync3 Navigation, $109 for download and $149 for a USB mailed to you. Go to this site https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home for the update. I downloaded it but have not loaded it in the vehical since it says it takes about 1hr of vehical run time. I understand that it is revision NA 1 18. Will post back once I load it in my vehical.

If the PTUs leak they are covered under the warranty, at least till warranty runs out, which can be extened. I'm saying that since they don't provide a method for update that they should stop having them in new vehicals, or at least list them as a completely seperate option so that we don't have to pay for a usless item. I wanted the memory seats in my 2017 Edge so I had to purchase the added option that has them in it, that also lumped in the Navigation which makes the cost of that option ~$800 more with no way of not getting the Navigation. That would be OK if they at least provide a method of updating the Nav. I guess I can't understand why Ford has not provided an update after 4 Model years, seems poor business to brag about a new better system (Sync3) and then not have programmers smart enough to figure out how to provide updates for the maps. Just wait a few years when Ford comes out with Autonomous cars and they can't figure out how to update the guidance system!

They are not even good for backup since they are years out of date and no way offered from Ford to update them. Ford should remove the Navigation from their new vehicals since they are not providing any updates.

This site says that Ford offers free map updates for 5 years to South Africa owners of Sync3. https://www.wheels24.co.za/OffRoad_and_4x4/Bakkie_and_SUV/ford-upgrades-ranger-everest-with-sync-3-navigation-and-more-20170411 I also read somewhere that the updates are free for the UK. Maybe we should all send e-mails to Ford "IVT (In-Vehicle Technology)" at "sync@ford.com" asking for map updates. I have already done this, but the more e-mails they get may help us.

Ford in it's Sync2 system had map updates that you could purchase, other vehicle manufacturers have updates that you can purchase, manufacturers of GPS units have updates that you can purchase, so how is this preposterous? Just because you never purchased an update, that's your right but has no bearing on the fact that no updates are available. Ford actually had made the update available according to some people but then pulled the method to get the update. If at least Ford provided up to date navigation maps when you purchased the vehicle, instead of 2 year old's or older maps then I would have less reason to complain. I purchased a brand new 2017 Ford Edge in July 2017, the maps that came with the navigation that was paid for were at least 2 years old at that time.

Anyone know if there is a class action lawsuit filed against Ford for not having an update available for it's Navigation on the SYNC 3 system? The system has been out for 4 model years and there is no update for the maps.

I had a 2009 Mercury Sable and now have 2014 Ford Taurus and 2017 Ford Edge. All 3 have had their low beam headlights adjusted per the Ford recommendation in the manual which is all the same. This puts the low beam a little too low. I set the vehicle up at 25ft from my garage door at night, the books say to adjust the height on the garage at 25ft to equal the height of the headlight at the vehicle, I adjust it to approximately 2 inches above that. I then check it on the road to make sure that on the back of a full size sedan (that's in front of me) that the top of the light does not shine into the rear window, go back and adjust if necessary. When adjusting cover one of the headlights and adjust the other. Also make sure that the drivers side is not to high as this will blind on-coming drivers. That little bit of height increase really helps a lot.

Check where the mirror gets its power from, I believe that the mirror power would turn off when the vehicle is turned off.

Turn off the WIFI connection, only way I found to kept that from poping up. WIFI update never worked for me anyways.

I heard that they were out but when I had the 2017 Edge in for maintenance last month the dealer said the Ford dealer site to order them has been down for a month. I just checked the on-line site and it says "This Product is Currently Unavailable", it also doesn't even have the 2018 or 2019 listed. Dealer says several people have asked over the last few months for updates but they can't get them. I sent e-mail to the Ford IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) at sync@ford.com and they say map updates are not available.

2017 Ford Edge Titanium: The cargo area should be wider, I have a 2014 Ford Taurus which has the same outside width and I can take 4 sets of golf club bags and place them sideways in the trunk. I can't do that in the Edge. I also can place the golf bags front to back in the Taurus but not in the Edge. The front drivers seat doesn't lower enough. Other than that I really like the Edge. One other thing that I don't like which Ford needs to fix is that the Sync3 system has been out for 4MY and there is no update for the Navigation maps in the USA, while I read on-line that in Australia and other countries that they not only have updates, they are also free for 5 years. Yes I can use Carplay with Google, Apple, or Waze maps. My point is that I had paid $800 for the Navigation which was included with the option I wanted for other items and no way of not getting the Nav. and yet there is no updates. Ford brags about how great Sync3 is but their programmers can't even figure out how to update the maps here in the USA. Also using those apps on the phone uses your data up and they do not work when your not connected to cell service like happens in the mountains.

You said you connected the fans directly to the battery and they worked. That means that the fans are fine. The problem is either the black line is not getting back to the negative side of the battery or the red line is not getting back to the positive side of the battery. On the red line there will be a fuse or circuit breaker and a relay contact before it connects to the positive side of the battery, Check fuse/breaker and relay contact. On the black line it would connect to the temperature controller relay then go to the negative side of the battery, that could be bad.

I positioned both of my vehicles in the garage at the proper distance from the back wall and then used string and plastic golfs ball tied at the proper level so that the ball hits the windshield of the vehicles. The string is tied to the ceiling rafters (in my case the frame of the overhead lights). Now when I pull in the vehicle and the windshield touches the ball I know when to stop. The problem I see in placing a board or other item on the floor is that when a vehicle is not in the garage and you are moving about it seems that you always hit the board and accidently move it out of place.

Without having a wire diagram it's hard to know what the vehicle circuit is, but on older vehicles I worked on the red fan wire would go to a relay that when the ignition was turned on would connect it to the positive side of the battery. The black fan wire would go to a temperature controlled relay that when the vehicle engine was hot enough it would then connect the black wire to the negative side of the battery. Both relays would have to be closed for the fan to work. When you connected the fan red wire directly to the battery positive terminal and then checked from the battery negative to the red wire at the fan the light will light, but it may also light at the black wire if the engine is not hot enough to connect that side to the negative battery terminal by the temperature relay, this is because the fan motor will have a low resistance.

I had problems with CarPlay on my 2017 Ford Edge and the reset "omar302" would get it working again but really didn't correct the problem. I then did a "Master Rest" which is found under the "General" menu selection and it took several seconds to complete but the problem I was having has not re-occurred. The master reset will remove all your iPhone settings but doesn't effect your stored radio stations. The problem I was having was that when I first connected my iPhone to Sync with CarPlay it would work OK until the next time I started the vehicle. Then it would hang up my phone and also the Sync system. When this happened the iPhone would buzz and then the battery display on the top right of the phone would go from green to white in color, then the phone would then keep repeating this buzz, green, white as long as connected to USB. The Sync system would just freeze and nothing would work on it till I performed "omar302" reset.

If it's got Sync3 then right now you may not find an update for it, I know some have posted that they got an update through their dealer but according to my delaer he can't order it and the Ford site he goes on says they are working on it. If you have Sync2 that uses the SD Card then you can order on-line thru Ford for $149 or find them on e-bay for around $55. I've been e-mailing Ford IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) [sync@ford.com] and they say that the map update for Sync3 is not out yet, also that it will only be released as a dealer install. 4 vehicle years (2016-2019) on the Sync3 and still no updates for Navigation.

2011 MyFord Touch Software Help
FordGuy1 replied to srmuntz331's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
redden18 - Thanks for all your Help, I've got the v3.10 update installed in my 2014 Taurus. jmr061 - The latest download from the Ford site now has "redden18" fix in the autoinstall.lst file. I'm still having a problem reporting the update back to Ford but that's usually a problem. Thanks for your Help added: I contacted Ford IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) [sync@ford.com] and they were able to update the Ford owner site for me to show my latest update. -
2011 MyFord Touch Software Help
FordGuy1 replied to srmuntz331's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The vehicle that I'm talking about for this software is my 2014 Ford Taurus Limited which has Sync2 MFT presently at version v3.8 (15128). I have both vehicles listed under my profile. I've attached the autoinstall from the v3.10 software. autoinstall.txt -
I purchased the A9 SD Card from e-bay and it does have the completed i485 loop around Charlotte, NC

I'm on IOS12.0.1 on iPhone 7 and have Sync3 v3.0 with Nav. When I set up Carplay on vehicle and phone it works for Apple, Google, or Waze maps which is fine. When I restart the vehicle and reconnect the phone then Carplay doesn't start, the phone display for it's battery in upper right corner goes from green to white and then the phone vibrates, then this keeps repeating. I'm using the supplied Apple Lightning cable and have made sure that the phone setting allows Carplay and also USB connection without the USB locking. I've tried clearing out the settings in the vehicle and phone and restarted the Sync with the 2 button hold method, then reconnected and it sets up and works again until then next vehicle restart and phone reconnect. This problem was fixed by doing a "Master Reset" on the Sync3 system and reconnecting the iPhone to bluetooth and Carplay.
