YEP… You’re not alone. I have hand calculated our MPG almost every tank. Every once in a while they will come out the same. And I distinctly remember the car actually getting better than I hand calculated a couple of times. BUT for the other 138 of 148 recorded fill ups the MKX DOES NOT get as good as IT SAYS it does! We’re at 43K miles now and are about to buy new tires OEM Pirelli’s do 702 revolutions per mile The Yokohama’s we’re looking at only do 698. SO I’m expecting a change, not sure which way? ab

Rear tail lights
ablb replied to LetsTryaFord's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
PLUS 1 OFTEN when my morning ride pulls up at 6am (couple of times a week) I have to tell him to turn his lights on. "Some people have no clue " But those BLUE lights sure look GOOD! When we are driving around at night I make him turn them DOWN, I can't see out the windshield and THAT SCARES ME :titanic: Wonder where the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is…OH I forgot they are IN BED with the Asian manufactures!! ab -
55w HID in 07' Edge
ablb replied to Vandeleigh's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I thought HID’s ran cooler than halogen??? We’ve had 55W hid’s in our MKX (projectors) for a little over a yr. The only problem is they are TOO bright, need to upgrade to 35W with the newish solution for the bulb out warning. Send Todd at Retro-Solutions an email. http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/servlet/StoreFront ab -
We used our space saver this summer. I can’t even remember the last time I used a space saver, maybe 20+ years ago. BUT this use wasn’t caused by a damaged tire, the rim was cracked plus we were 70 miles from the closest town. 70 miles @ 45 MPH DOSE take a long time, but the mountan scenery was BEAUTIFUL! My point is, I almost don’t even see a reason for the space saver, we have road side assistance on our insurance. ab

I damaged my 2011 edge 20" chrome clad wheel need help
ablb replied to kenjan1970's topic in Wheels & Tires
When we started looking at repair/replace our cracked rim we discovered that we could replace ALL 4 for not many more $’s than Ford wanted for 1. PLUS they would be REAL wheels with NO HUBCAPS!!! Here are the ones we almost bought. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findWheelDetail.do?dVeh=dVeh&bp=&tc=KONUNK&c=1&rcz=76126&yr=2008&pc=57917&wd=20&rw=&vid=013224&rc=TCSINT My wife liked shopping at Tire Rack. Notice you can change the color in the left corner. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniWheelSearchServlet?nonWinter=true&partNum=408042C4579C&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2011&autoModClar=FWD&wIndex=11&grid=true&sw=1280 http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?filterSize=20&filterFinish=All&filterBrand=All&filterWeight=All&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Limited&autoYear=2011&autoModClar=FWD&sort=Diameter&filterNew=All&filterSpecial=false ab -
I damaged my 2011 edge 20" chrome clad wheel need help
ablb replied to kenjan1970's topic in Wheels & Tires
Greeting and welcome Did you damage the plastic? We had one of our 08 chrome clad wheels repaired this summer by NTB. http://www.ntb.com/ http://www.ntb.com/Locations/ill/chicago It was cracked and would go flat in a little less than 24 hours. Much less time while driving. Cost about $250.00 out the door versus $800+ tax from Ford + balance, mount, stem, etc. Good luck ab -
syncing more than one phone at a time
ablb replied to richy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Unless something has changed. Only 1 phone will have a blue tooth connection at a time. Which we REALLY like, don't have to put up with "I DDIDDNNNN'T understand you." ab -
The MPG doesn’t bother us nearly as much as the small tank. If this thing was a Honda 4 banger getting 30 the tank would be ok. A 20 + gal. tank would really be nice. ab

I can't believe they don't have a locking glovebox
ablb replied to Baileyjack's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
When they slim-jimed my parents car  the UN locked glove box DID NOT slow them down at all  ! They just pried the UN LOCKED door open with a big screw driver. The only part of the car damaged was the UNLOCKED glove box. ab -
Sounds like you’ve made up your mind. I wish you well with your next Japanese car. But first take a look at these google searches. toyota recalls = 2.5Mhttp://www.google.com/search?q=%22toyota+recalls%22&hl=en&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=&safe=images&tbs= honda recalls = 55.1Khttp://www.google.com/search?q=%22honda+recalls%22&hl=en&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=&safe=images&tbs= ford recalls = 45.6Khttp://www.google.com/search?q=%22ford+recalls%22&hl=en&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=&safe=images&tbs= ab

Greetings and welcome If resetting on the ifo sys didn’t work then it sounds like one of your TPMS transmitters (located in the wheel) is defective. Big bucks at Ford and they’ll keep your car all day. A little cheaper at Discount Tire, NTB or probably “the tire place that put my new front tires on last year”. ab

Looks like the Michelin will be 1” taller and .01” wider. The Kuhmo will turn 661 times in a mile the Mich will turn 693. There sure is a lot of difference between these tires??? Or did I pick the wrong tires? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Road+Venture+SAT+KL61&partnum=365SR7KL61&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=LTX+M%2FS2&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=37TR7LTXMS2XL&tab=Specs ab

It’s not just the damage OUR ethanol does to our fuel systems. OUR CORN ethanol is not nearly as efficient as your sugar ethanol. Which =’s MORE pollution and less miles per gal . The only benefit our corn ethanol has is BIG $’s for the people who make it. And politicians !!! Our corn farmers don’t even benefit, they sold their crops before they were even planted . ab

Talking via Bluetooth Cell Issue
ablb replied to MrHappy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
We have a Samsung (something) and a Motorola (backflip) and both HAD the same problem. Our old Motorola razrs did not have any problems, so its really not a Ford problem its a Microsoft problem. Try this, I found it here http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=login or maybe here, cant remember https://secure.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/UserManagement/Login.aspx When youre not in the Edge make a call. During the call turn the volume all the way down. Hang up. Get in your Sport and make a call. Dont adjust the volume on THE Edge.Adjust the volume on your Samsung. You only have to do it once. It helped ours, hope it works for you. ab -
If the dealer had just told half the truth "it's not ready" and fixed the "OPS we goffed" window! We bought a Thunderbird with a broken switch. The dealer told half the truth "it's broke... from the factory" and told the make ready to go take a swith off of anther car. Then he had to tell the whole truth..."OPS he broke that one too, we've ordered several." ab

I thought Arnold vetoed this in CA. Let’s see… Setting at red lights (and all lights are RED in Ft. Worth) we get 0 MPG add in e10 and we get mid teens. Now we’re going to e15 I think I’ll go buy some corn futures or better yet a corn farm. ab

HID Questions
ablb replied to teamsyd14's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
At the geek location I got the price up to $60 by adding lifetime warranty, didn’t check how much the other options added. If you are trying for an OEM look then go with 5000K or less 35w. If you want the K-Mart Special look then go with 8000k 35W, they will be usable (barely, too much blue). 100W will fry the wings off of bugs at 100yrds, plus attract the attention of “revenue generators.” We have 55w and they are BRIGHT, check with maddwakester about this. ab -
They need to work on their BS generator. They should have told you “we are so busy we just can’t get them ready fast enough… The make ready dept has a stomach virus… The make ready guy’s wife is having a baby…etc. Then call the glass co. to take one out of another Edge and put it in yours. He’s obviously new; he’s opening himself up to all kinds of problems  , like a recall of ALL 2011’s for MAJOR electrical issues. I bet his high school drop out son has finally got himself fired. ab

If it’s been leaking since 07 and it probably has. That’s a lot of grease that will take a long time to go away. Check this thread for MUCH more info. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/1654-burning-smell/page__hl__leak You might skip to about page 10 of 36 pages. ab

Early Headlight Failure
ablb replied to ar&wr's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
These brighter whiter halogen don’t have the life expectancy of the standard halogens. We’ve had to replace a couple of SilverStar’s (BMW and F250). Not in the MKX, I installed HID’s before the SilverStar’s failed. It is unusual to see both going at the same time, but if yours are that much hotter then the sudden surge when the first one went out probably took out the second. ab -
headlight voltage
ablb replied to brummmmsky's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
It might be why your battery went dead. What was your ground source for the 8.8 test? I’m not sure how many volts it takes to start a 12v halogen bulb but 8 volts should get it going a little??? I used to say to my customers “If you take a bad light out and you put a bad light back in what do you get?” You have a known GOOD bulb, move it to the suspected bad socket. good luck ab
