I too used them for years with no problems, NOT sure how that worked for the next owners? I even used a few with Teflon in them, evidently THAT was not a good idea. ab

Here’s a pretty good filter test, by some "experts." Notice ACDelco failed. http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/oilfilterstudy.html Here’s the gradesheet. http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/oilfilter/gradesheet.htm Note to self: Next oil/filter change use Mobil1 filter. I already use Mobil1 oil. ab

Can we have a little more info? “Lamps are all ok, they are on and I've checked them with a meter.” Lamps = tail lights? “I've checked them with a meter.” The brake/turn bulb? Now a suggestion. Rule # 1 “always test the tester” (not your meter) Go buy new bulbs and install 1 in the passenger side only. Check to see if it works. Good luck ab

We have almost zero control of the transmission in our older Edge/MKX’s. When going down steep grades you can turn OD off, this helps VERY LITTLE. Eventually the transmission will start to downshift. But by then you’re either going too fast or you’re on the brakes. NOT good at all in the mountains. ab

SOLD We just bought new wheels and tires, so these need to be out of my garage. No tires, the Pirelli's were pretty much worn at 48K. No TPMS, moved them to the new wheels. 1 wheel is a little pitted, in Texas??? Price is negotiable and I'll pay the shipping. Sold ab

We’re in TX. didn’t even know the dealers still offered undercoating. I may look into this. Long ago we would have it done, NOT for corrosion but for noise deadening. Good Luck Maybe our resident detail specialist will have good news. ab

I click on them if I'm interested. BEATS SPAM Plus they/we probably get a penny a click. ab

Have you talked to a GOOD custom exhaust shop? We have one in N TX. I’ve used a couple of times, not on the MKX. Here’s one in NY. http://www.kcscustomexhaust.com/ or here http://newyork.inetgiant.com/portjeffersonstation/AdDetails/Custom-Mandrel-Bent-Exhaust-Custom-Mandrel-Headers/2825130 I googled "mandrel bent New York” "mandrel bent exhaust New York” Might be worth a call? ab

We haven’t had that problem. But have had a couple of EXTREME hard down-shifts at 65+ MPH and some ruff shifts when making turns at red lights. We had them check and document their finding…”Can’t duplicate problem.” We then went straight to the finance manager and asked if he could meet or beat "this" internet ESP quote. He said “Yes he could” so we bought it (less than $500.00), with the comment “It’s still your transmission.” He just smiled and shrugged. ab

Hay thanks mechanical genius. :shades: Ive been waiting on someone to DIY this. Im going to change ours later this summer, we have 46K miles and they are noticeably wearing out. WE DO live on a gravel rd every summer. What shock did you (are you going to) use? Monroe are not my favorite. I've had good luck with KYB and Bilstein. Thanks ab

I have a 10th. When the salesman calls and tells you your NEW pickup will be a couple more hours in the make ready dept. When you get there he says he got tired of waiting and buffed it himself. DON’T take it , DON’T even go look at it , just tell him he needs to order another one ASAP !!!

2010 Ford Edge message center?
ablb replied to star2019's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Greetings and welcome Here’s a pretty nice mirror on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OTU9PM/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002BOLSMC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0DZQWYSS57Y95N73VS77 Outside temp, auto-dim and a compass. Not sure/think you can retro-fit the info center. ab -
http://www.bullyonline.org/related/cyber.htm "Serial bullies, whose behaviour profile you'll find in full at Bully OnLine, harbour a lot of internal aggression which they direct at others. " "The objectives of bullies are Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more your try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them. Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded." "The Number One rule for dealing with this type of behaviour is: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage. This is not as easy to do as it sounds. It's a natural response to want to defend yourself, and to put the person right. However, never argue with a serial bully; it's not a mature adult discussion, but like dealing with a child or immature teenager; whilst the serial bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like a child who's never grown up - and probably never will. Serial bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns and do not share the same thoughts or values as you." Note: I just broke "The Number One rule"

:yup: One time last summer while passing someone on a 2 line hwy. During the down shift it felt like someone rear ended us. A dozen times in town, usually making a turn from a red light we get a little nudge. We had the dealer check it. “No codes/can’t reproduce problem.” So we bought the extended warranty and told him “it’s going to be Fords transmission for 100K :yup: now.” ab

Jiffy Lube 'identified' front diff problem
ablb replied to jmr83116's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
I’ve told these stories here before, but they need to be told again every once in a while. My son worked at a Honda dealership right out of high school. He told me several times the %$#-lube across the street was their favorite customer. They were good for at least 1 rebuilt motor a month. A friend had the oil changed in his 1 yr old Mazda at a %$#-lube in Colorado Springs, on his way to Texas (in New Mexico) he checked the oil= no oil. Put a quart in = no oil. Did it again, same thing, etc. Motor started running REALLY bad. Stopped at the next town and took 9 quarts OUT . When he got back to Co. he stopped by the %$#-lube. They said “ HA so that’s where the dip stick for that ford van went. ab -
I would hope Ford’s lawyers are smarter than that . I can see the Headlines. 6 yr old child dies while waiting on heart transplant. The Doctor was unreachable; his phone was busy making a call to Ford. ab

We told our dealer, as he was happily taking our $’s for the extended warranty. “By the way the transmission is still shifting hard at times, SO it’s still your transmission for the next 50K.” He didn’t act like it bothered him much; they’ll just bill Ford if/when it breaks. I do sympathize with them, “If it AIN’T broke (at times) you can’t fix it." ab
