If anyone with a 07, 08 Edge or 07, 08, 09 MKX missed the upgrade to the 09 Edge blind spot mirrors thread here's the link. :read: :beerchug: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...59&hl=blind ab

It's not "pinking" that would be a different forum. :beerchug: Don't worry about the pinGing because it's Fords motor 5 yrs/60K miles AND if you burn a hole in a piston after 60K you are well documented and WILL not have a problem getting your motor repaired. Personally it would drive me crazy :angry2: and I WOULD fix it myself or get a reputable NON Ford shop to take a look at it. Then IF they fix it take the bill to Ford. A lot of dealerships like to throw parts at a problem, see if you can get them to change the O2 sensor, then Crankshaft position sensor, then the Cam position sensor, etc, etc. Note: Don't burn any bridges be civil but be persistent. Good luck ab

Looked in the back of a Escape lately? It just doesn't make sence to cut this corner  . ab

Don't they ever look at what they are trying to compete with? Take a look at what the Germans do. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-X5-E53-...A1%7C240%3A1318 and here's another from Cadillac http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-2005-2...231310009r29652 ab

I think bezeerk is gone?? Looks like bezeerk can play CD's but can't play MP3 on a CD. I use nero 7 to convert/burn to MP3 and don't have any trouble. However I'm not putting MP3 on CD, just did a few to see if it worked. I'm using a 2 gig drive in the USB. ab

Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors

I've been tought a little different method. Keep your eyes moving Look at the windshield mounted mirror, yep there's somebody behind me Look forward Look in the door mounted mirror, yep there's somebody back there Look forward Look at the windshield mounted mirror, nobody there Look forward Look in the door mounted mirror, yep there's somebody back there in the passing lane Look forward Look in the door mounted mirror, nobody there Look forward Turn on left sig Start moving to left lane, LOUD HOONKING Lean forward look in door mounted mirror, yep there's somebody back there Swerve back into lane This isn't a very good description but you get the point. You really need to be looking forward most of the time, don't look from one mirror to the other, PLEASE.... My wife might be making a emergency stop in front of you ab -
Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors

These pictures were my first attempt and they did turn out pretty good. Big enough blind spot (see pic's 3 & 4 in my post above) to hide a Chevy Blazer. The camera was about where my wife's 5'6" eye would be. I didn't change the passenger mirror, I haven't noticed a blind spot. Plus I can't see the point in adding a convex mirror on top of a convex mirror . :beerchug: ab -

Plenty of wire to pull the mirror a little way from the housing. ab -

Best 80 bucks I've spent in a long time! :D This should be a TSB if not a recall. BUT NOT just the Edge/MKX most of the 4 door cars I've owned for the past decade at least have a big blind spot. I have to lean forward and look around the post. These 4 pictures are from a 6 picture burst on my XSi...Very revealing. ab -

Here's a picture that might help. Don't forget to rotate the whole mirror towards the front then push the glass down and to the left or right. Shine you flash light in and you'll see the tabs. I found it helped to push a small screwdriver into the gap created when you pry the first tab open, you'll have to remove it after the second tab so you can rotate the glass for access to the other 2 top tabs. Take your time and be gentle. Then just wiggle the glass out, unhook the heater wires. That small screwdriver will help with unhooking the Electrochromic plug. Hope this helps ab -
Sounds like their high school drop out make ready guy got a little carried away and used a buffer (this is the voice of experience speaking  ). A good professional detailer should be able to buff the swirls out, unless he went all the way thru the clear coat (this is the voice of experience speaking ). ab

I ordered part # 9T4Z17K707D, this part # is for a 09 Edge Limited. I'll be attempting to install this on my wife's 08 MKX. Total price was $81.17 including sales tax. If anyone ever sees a MKX with the "Blind Spot Mirror" please try to get the vin. Thanks ab -

Bad news for the MKX. I finally found a dealer, 1 out of 3 with some (2) 09 MKX's. Same mirror as our 08 . I'll be ordering a 09 Edge mirror Monday from my closest Ford dealer. ab -
What about high heat paint? I've found it to be pretty chip resistant. ab

Looks like Lex might know. But you might as well wait until you get your mirrors, maybe you'll get instructions. My 05 F250 instructions say to "(1) On both electric and manually actuated mirrors push the convex spotter glass both upward and outboard as far as possible as shown in Figure A. (LH shown - RH opposite) (2) Remove the Backing Plate assembly by inserting a screwdriver between the Backing Plate and the case rear (as shown in Figure A), and prise the backing plate from its pivot with the screwdriver." No notch just push up/out and pry it off, the main mirror instructions are the same. ab -

Research research reserach I love it. I'm always telling my friends "you can answer any question on the internet" but it's not helping much on this one. ab -
I always find this subject interesting. A friend says "I'VE GOT A BIG OLE 4X4 it says so right on the side." Well maybe but there is a good chance it could be a 4X2 (my F250 as opposed to my neighbor's 4X1 F250 or his neighbor with a REAL 4X4 F250). ab

Has anyone removed Sirius? I'm not wanting to add XM. Note to Lex: Set the hook :beerchug: ab

I'm wondering the same thing? Why so many mirrors? After seeing them, I'm not going to change the passenger mirror ab -
Haven't needed them. Which is possibly/probably why the Edge/MKX has a reputation for not stopping very well. Have you ever noticed the wheels on a BMW they ALWAYS have a LOT of brake dust on them. ab
