Well I got the TPMS tool and it works great! It was extremely easy to get into the "Learn" mode of the Edge and program the TPMS sensors. That is if you have the proper procedure to get into the "Learn" mode. The tool does not come with any directions, but I wasn't really expecting it to either. I watched a technician at the dealer scan my wheels so I wrote down the procedure. That was about 3 months ago and I can't find the paper I wrote it down on  , so I searched online and came across a link on how to program the TPMS on a 2007 Ford Mustang. The procedure is exactly the same and the link is: http://home.ptd.net/~safari/mustang/fsm/Training.pdf The whole process takes about 2 minutes and it's done. I highly recommend this tool to anyone that wants to switch out the stock wheels and tires with custom wheels and tires during the spring & winter. You will also need to reset the TPMS sensors when you rotate your tires. If you do the rotating yourself, its not only more convenient but you also save around $45.00 in dealer fees to scan the tires.

I'm totally satisfied with the performance of the vehicle. As far as mileage: Here in NY the price for gas is around $3.55 for 87 octane, $3.65 for 89, $3.75 for 93 . I own and operate a construction company and run five trucks, 4 of them are diesel. With diesel around here running $4.85/gallon, It can easily cost $400 to fill up a tri-axle dump truck. That being said; I don't really mind spending around $60 to fill the Edge.

I was about to order the same kind of tool that the Ford mechanics use (approx. $400.00), but i found a reset tool on Ebay for around $25.00 I ordered one and it should be here soon so I'll post the results. Heres a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Tire-P...sspagenameZWDVW

My hood just got reapinted from the dealer due to a contamination under the paint that was causing serval spider craks to appear from under the paint. My hood have 6-8 nice stone chip marks previously and I'm thinking about installing the Weathertech bug shield instead of the Ford shield. Has anyone installed the Weathertec? I don't want anymore chips, but I know that cleaning between the shield and the hood can be a pain in the A. Anyone else have chipping problems? maybe soft paint?

Tinted Tails - Unique Coatings

I think the medium tint (no white) looks best. ^_^ -
Lex, The tune choices are 87,89,91,93. While I personally don't monitor my MPG that often, I did go on a 5 hr. highway driven round trip this weekend and here were the circumstances and results. Passengers: 2- adults, 2- kids. Travel speed: 75 - 85 MPH Road conditions: 70% flat, 30% graded. (approx.) Weather: raining 1 way. (limited resistance) Auto climate controls on for entire ride. (air compressor working) 100 lbs. +/- extra stuff in the rear cargo area. I reset my trip MPG on the control panel when I got onto the highway and was traveling at 60 MPH. During the first 1hr. of the trip I averaged 23 -24 MPG mainly because the road was flat. The final trip result which was all highway was 21 MPG. Overall considering the conditions of the roads, passenger and cargo weight, climate system working, weather, travel speed, etc.., I was pleased with the results. I know that when I'm driving the car by myself, I get better MPG and the steering wheel even feels lighter. I've also kept an eye on the 2nd MPG gauge, and it has gone up 1 MPG recently. I'm sure that someone else can do a much better job with testing MPG gains with a tune, but I do drive a bit aggressively and every driver will have different MPG based on their driving habits, terrain, usage of A/C, etc. Based on my previous MPG and the current MPG, I fell that I may have gained 1 - 1.5 MPG after the tune. Keep in mind that I do not track my MPG nearly as much as some other members, but I do think their is an increase in MPG. I bought the tune for performance, and I'm very satisfied with the results.

I haven't noticed any throttle lag as of yet, but I'll let you know if I do. As for your plans on the drop; do it a.s.a.p., the car feels totally different. I have my stock tires & wheels now because of all the salt on the NY roads. The car is much more stable with the stocks wheels, but once I put my chromes back on with the wider tires, it sticks like glue. Next mod for me is the sway bar also.

I already had 89 in the tank from the beginning of the week when I got the tune. (89 is my standard, or economy that I fill up with) Around me the standard at the pump is more often than not; 87,89,93. I only find 91 at Sunoco by my house. I figure that I'll jump up to 93 at the next fill to see if their is any difference in performance. BTW, the unit comes with three tunes of your choice; 87,89,91,93. The best way to explain how the vehicle feels now is this: when your driving a standard vehicle in 2nd gear and your about 60% - 70% into the gear (higher rpm's) and you get that instant response and thrust from the vehicle; it lurches forward. I hope my explanation doesn't confuse you. Anyhow, I'll post anything else thats interesting.

Since I didn't get any feedback from anyone regarding the Evolution custom tune, I went ahead and ordered one. I ordered the tune on Monday of this week and I got it three days later via Fedex. I installed the tune upon receipt of the delivery and it was extremely easy. The whole process took about fifteen minutes. The hand held XCT tuner unit firsts uploads your stock tune into the unit, then it downloads the custom tune of your choice. I installed the 89 octane custom tune for now to see how it works. The unit came with tune for 89, 91, and 93 octane. After the installation of the tune I immediately saw a big difference in the throttle response and what feels like more torque. When you push down the accelerator you can feel yourself sink into the seat. I'm not sure exactly what the HP gain is because I'm not going to dyno test my car. A piece of computer printout doesn't compare to actually feeling a change in the vehicles response and power. As I posted previously, I'm not interested in fuel savings, but it seems that I'm not smashing down the pedal in order to get the same acceleration. Once this tank of fuel is used up, I'll jump up to the 93 tune to see if I feel any difference.

Installed the H&R springs yesterday
NYEdge replied to jeffreybehr's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Bulldog, I had my mechanic install the springs and then re-aligned the vehicle for about $200. The end result is well worth it. The car sticks to the road with the combination of the springs and the tires I mounted. -

I have the H&R spring kit installed and it makes a world of difference. Do you have a link for the rear sway bar? I'd like to check that out. Just ordered a custom tune for my Edge and I'll post the results. Thanks. -

My vote is for the chrome wheels in the attachment file. I almost went with the exact same ones. -
Let me start by saying that I am not interested in fuel economy, only performance enhancement. I know that a couple of members have tunes from other people, but I want to know if anyone has gotten a tune from Evolution Performance. If someone has installed the tune, I would like to know the following: Are you satisfied with the increased performance, and do you find anything lacking? Have you run the vehicle with various octanes and the appropriate tunes? (87, 91, 93) If you have used various octanes, do you notice any change in the performance? When you switch from one octane to another, do you wait until the tank is almost empty? When bringing the car in for service to the dealer, how far in advance do you have to restore the original tune so that they read the custom tune? Thanks for any info specifically for the Evolution tune. :P

Don't be stressed with the color. Put a high quality wax on the car and it shines like nobody's business. I love my black edge! :P

Hey Saleen hope all is well. Just checking if you or anyone else has installed the Magnaflow Stainless exhaust. I'd like someones opinion on how it sounds, fits, and performs. Any info would be appreciated. A sound clip would be great.

Just as soon as I put my chrome wheels back on I'll take pictures from the rear and side. I have the stock wheels on for the winter due to the road salt. -

Thanks Chad, I'll have mine out to you by Friday. -
The link goes directly to SCT. Did you buy it from a retailer? and is that how you got the unlimited custom tuning? What tunes did you get on it? 87, 89, and 93 octane? Thanks for any info, I'm definitely interested.

12volt DC Power Connection
NYEdge replied to PeteL22151's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I mentioned that I tapped into the passenger side power seat unit to power my DVD headrests. Their is not a "plug", I found the appropriate wire with a digital multi-meter. :P -
Hi NPGGIRL, Lately it seems that some of our older members haven't been around as much. I'm waiting for my tinted tails to ship this week, and I'm always on the look out for more upgrades. I would like to find an upgrade for the brakes (rotors, calipers, pads) and always open to a HP upgrade in the motor. Maybe an after market turbo kit will be available soon. I'd definitely be interested in that. How's things going with you and the New Power Generation? LOL

Screen Protectors for the Navigation
NYEdge replied to INTERAVE's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I haven't tried this with the screen protector, but I think you can install it just like window tint using a little mist of water on the screen before you apply the protector. Then you squeegee out the water towards the edges with a straight edge (credit card). (Not too much water of course, just like your cleaning the screen) If someone tries the protective screen let us know how it works. (if their is sensitivity lost when touching the screen, and if the application went on well)
