  1. You do have to worry about lawsuits. Anyone can sue anyone at anytime for anything. Powerstop is a force on the internet, they might sue someone who is disparaging of their products. So I'm not going to say anything bad about them. I will say they couldn't get a caliper to my friend after 3 shipping attempts. Damaged and/or wrong parts each time. As for what I buy- I don't buy "kits". I buy two rotors and a set of pads. They are typically not made by the same company. I have used the top end Wagner, Raybestos, and Centric parts for years without issue. IMO, Centric sells the best brake parts for your money right now. I would have said Raybestos 5 years back, but the mechanics are going with Centric parts more and more. Less comebacks for noise and vibrations from what the parts suppliers tell me. Have at it with the Powerstop brakes if you want though- it's no skin off my back.
  2. Shill is a bad thing. It's people claiming something is great, when it's really not. I'm not going to say anything bad about them since- lawyers and all that, but lets put it this way- you'll never see a mechanic using Powerstop brake parts unless a customer brings them in. They can get better parts for less. You can have a good experience with cheap brakes, but better brakes are quieter, smoother, don't grunt in the rain, work better in temp extremes, etc. It's a slight improvement, but it is there.
  3. CARid can be shady, but I've bought stuff from them without issue more than once. It goes on my CC, so who cares if they try some BS? If they screw me, I'll have the CC company reverse the charges.
  4. They won't just flash it to the latest software simply because you ask them to. That 1/2 hour costs money and is NOT covered under warranty unless there is an issue the customer is complaining about. To simply say, "I want the latest software" is not a valid issue that gets warranty coverage. A particular dealer may eat the cost to keep you happy, but it's not the norm.

    Mustang SUV

Just looked once more to make sure I'm not crazy. Nope. It's just plain fugly and it won't sell. Personally, I don't believe that most people really want EVs. I also don't believe that in 5 years Ford will be selling 5 different EVs in any quantities that move the needle, ie 100K plus units per year. Maybe one, an EV F150, more than likely. We'll see.
  6. I swear Powerstop brakes are the most shilled product on the entire internet.

We'll see in time. I don't see it appealing to anyone simply via the Mustang name. The problem is- the cheap ones aren't fast, and the fast ones aren't cool. I think we'll see them majorly cutting production numbers within 2 years after a decent first year of sales, and it being completely gone within 5 years. My sales predictions: Year 1: 50K Year 2: 45K Year 3: 20K Year 4: 15K Year 5: 15K Let's hear your numbers for the first five years and we'll see how it shakes out. 2025 will be here before you know it. Mustangs have averaged around 90K per year over the last 5 years for comparison.

After the dust has settled on the launch- I don't like it, at all. I've bought a Mustang Cobra new off a dealers's lot, and I now have kids to haul around, I like Fords, I'd like to have a dual motor Tesla but don't want to drop 100K on one, and I can afford to buy a brand new Mach E- so I *am* the target market, but there's no way I'd buy that. I feel that Ford foolishly stole the Mustang moniker for this coupe-ish EV thing. This is not a Mustang. Can't get a stick shift, you can't do a burnout, it makes no sounds that are satisfying, and worst of all, it's generally ugly. I don't see any angle that is particularly good looking. This a nothing but a new Ford EV crossover that they ripped the Mustang's heritage to promote. My predictions is it won't sell well at all, and it'll be gone in less than a decade. This will not make Mustang owner more likely to buy one- probably 100% the other way and it'll keep people form buying one out of disdain. I also predict that Ford and GM are going to find out the hard way that the lefty types that buy EVs/Teslas look down their nose at anyone who drives a Ford or a Chevy.

What a moronic commercial that was. "Who says EV can't drive on snow?" Uhh- nobody? I thought they were going to address how sub-zero weather kicks the crap out of a battery, but they have solved that. Nope, we'll just ignore that elephant in the room and show that we can rotate tires in a circular manner just like a gas vehicle.
  11. I had to do ball joints on my last F150 at 90K miles. 50K is early, but sometimes you get the out of spec parts. Edit: My SHO had 3 of it's 4 wheel bearings replaced at less than 40K miles. Never had other vehicles with bearing issues like that. At least the bearings were done under warranty. Been good for the last 15K since they were replaced though.
  12. Yeah, RTFM is totally appropriate here- I just never expected a special process to change wiper blades I guess. Only done wiper blades around 100 times over the years on dozens of vehicles with no such special instructions necessary, but I've never owned anything with the whack ass center-out style wipers either.
  13. So what are the part numbers? Motorcraft, which to me are OEM "style", list the same wiper for both sides. AFAIK, you CANNOT buy the actual OEM wipers unless you buy them from a factory worker in Canada who assembles Ford Edges and smuggled them out the back door. The original wipers were noticeably different than the Motorcraft replacement parts, as they always have been on every Ford I've owned.
  14. Good to hear positive feedback on the new PCM flash. We'll get ours scheduled for the update.
  15. We are going to try the 192313 update as soon as we can get it in. Still getting harsh shifts after the last re-flash- mainly from park to drive.
  16. Wife said it's done the slam into drive from park shift twice again in the last couple days. WTF Ford? It's not like high optioned crossovers are poor sellers/moneymakers and only deserve the new guy writing the transmission software.
  17. The louder, the better. When someone starts backing up towards you in a lot, and keeps coming closer and closer instead of stopping where they typically would - you are going to wish your horn was louder with every inch closer they get. Not advocating for everyone to get train horns, but with how quiet new cars are, older drivers with poor hearing, and younger drivers with the stereo cranked- having a loud horn is a good thing.
  18. You need Forscan and a OBD II adapter. I bought this one. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F0GVBWY/ Forscan is free to download.
  19. I cleared it on ours- no more issues shifting from Park to drive so far. It's been at least a week. Wife said she'd tell me if it did it again and no reports as of yet.
  20. It's a generational thing. There is no way you are younger than 50 years old. Old people just like chrome for some reason. Some random old guy told me how much he liked our 08 Taurus Limited we had. It was absolutely slathered in chrome. You really don't pay extra for chrome- unless you get the very base econobox model- that's just what you get as standard. The titanium/limited models always get even more chrome, but that's just part of a package with other crap. Nobody is paying extra just for more chrome. However people ARE paying more to get black trim instead. The "appearance package" on the last Gen Explorers, the "sport" trim on the F150s etc. You pay extra to not get chrome, and nothing else. That's how much people dislike chrome drenched all over their vehicles. I think the Titanium models look ridiculous with all the chromed plastic parts every where. The mirror caps are simply over the top and chrome wheels were out of style 10 years ago. But hey, that's why Ford has options and why they call it "taste". As for the ST looking like a base model- not really. Base models have bare plastic everywhere. It's all grey looking with a flat or matte finish, and generally very cheap looking. The ST grille is a gloss black finish. The bare plastic along the bottom on the base models is painted on the STs. They really look nothing alike and nobody will ever confuse the two. Black wheels are optional as well, and our does not have them. Maybe I dislike chrome on cars because I refused to use the word "bling" to describe anything. Bright, shiny, reflective- plenty of other non-made up words we can use.
  21. Asked my wife if she wanted it disabled an she said no, so I left it. I did disable the auto stop/start though- she did not like that feature at all.
  22. Wife got home tonight- I moved them up by hand then went in a hit the ignition button- they came down and parked normally. No issues now. Thanks guys.
  23. So you move the arms by hand, do the blade swap, then just put them back on the glass, and then turn on the ignition? I'll try that and see if it works itself out. I assume you can move each one individually and they are not hard linked together like mos vehicles?

Did you not see me refer to miles and gallons as freedom units?
  25. It might be something to do with the learning- ours never shifted harshly from P to D until recently. It was fine for at least a few weeks after they did the TSB flash update, and it's slowly has been happening more and more often. I wonder if the guy who wrote the adaptive learning portion of the code just FUBARed it completely. I have Forscan as well- I'll try to reset ours and see if it improves. I don't think it does anything too odd otherwise while driving, but we did get some odd shifts when we first bought it, which is why we had them do the TSB flash update on it a month or so back. Edit: I don't think you can turn off the adaptive learning without a custom PCM calibration. Might just be one of those thing you get to do every few weeks unit Ford gets their shit together. I gotta think after 3 or 4 years of producing tens of thousands of these things- they will probably, maybe, finally get the programming right. Then again, they are still recalling 6 year old F150s for trans reprogramming, and have had multiple updates due to the initial reprogramming not doing what it should have. WTF Ford? You putting the new guy in charge of programming your automatic transmissions?
