2015 2.0 gurgling ac on passenger side
Chipster replied to solodogg's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Is this a once a trip sort of occurrence, and perhaps only on first startup? This won't apply to your Edge, but my wife's 2010 2.5 Fusion did the same thing the entire time she owned it. (it was replaced with a 2016 Fusion) Ford did a TSB fix for it, but after we took hers in for several dealer attempted fixes we gave up on it and just ignored it. The noise in her Fusion never progressed to anything worse. -

I was looking over my wheels on my 2016 and while looking at the front wheels I happened upon what I considered to be a possible noise generator built into the front wheel well. I have not noticed any wind noise that I would consider bothersome, but not being one of those to leave well enough alone I had to investigate / do something about what I saw as a possible problem. There is no doubt that water, salt, and dirt get into this hole in the outside leading edge of the lower back edge of the two front wheel wells. The first picture shows the area I am talking about and the subsequent pictures are the simple steps I took to prototype a fix. I just used a flat piece of plastic I had on hand to cover the hole, but some sort of expanding foam would be much quicker and perhaps better. As I say, I don't know if this gap in the bodywork is creating noise or not, but this was easy enough to do so I don't think it will hurt. Sorry that the pictures aren't any clearer, but I think you get the idea.

If your cabin air filter is that dirty, what about your engine air filter?

I just had TSB 17B28 (throttle body replacement) performed on my 2016 3.5. Here are a couple of pictures with the different part or ID numbers between the old and new throttle bodies.Hopefully whatever issues that were experienced by owners with the old part are solved by the new one. Top picture is the old one with its replacement beneath it.

I am just trying to figure it all out.

Throttle body problem? Some 2016's 3.5's have a "Replace TB" TSB. Mine does.

Well not exactly! Not all JD's are created equal and in fact there are some really big differences between the JD's sold in the big box stores and what JD sells @ their own retail outlets. I just got back from a visit to my local JD outlet and was very surprised to discover that their smaller lawn tractors (maybe bigger ones as well?) are powered by one and two cylinder Kawasaki engines while the Home Depot sold JD's use Kohler twins and what are described as "OEM" single cylinder engines. The sales guy at the JD outlet maintained that there are other differences to be found on the mower deck and drive components as well. Man, this mower due diligence is a bitch! One more thing, the warranty on the JD 's from their outlets are two to four years depending on the model selected.

Simon; I looked into your Yanmar statement about them being the manufacturer of JD & Club Cadet. All I found was that they make some JD engines.(I suspect only diesels) This was all I found: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yanmar

Perhaps you mean the formally known as Sears? These days that purchase would be a real crap shoot!

You know it is in this instance that a mulch kit really comes into it own. The bulk reduction and rake reduction is great! It's hell on the blades, but since it is the end of the cutting season who cares as they will need to be touched up before spring anyway. There does seem to be one aspect to my model selection that I might have missed had I not done a bit of homework. It seems that both the JD & Cadet add a few "life longevity" features on their (for a lack of a better term) second tier models that cost a few hundred dollars more than there entry model. In the Cadet's case a couple of well placed grease fittings on the cutting spindle seem to promote a longer lifespan. I was amazed at the additional "safety" features on modern mowers over and beyond what in on my older mower. It seems like just reversing the mower with the blades turning requires all sorts of operator input and perhaps an act of congress as well... As I used to say in my previous lines of work "Safety sucks, but I don't want to die either!"
-
My plan as well. I have it on my current mower and would not want to bag clippings. I have discovered that the Club Cadet has a 3 year warranty while the JD is only 2 years. I also discovered that Home Depot does not fix warranty issues, rather directs them to "authorized" warranty repair locations which in my case are only a couple of miles from my home, so no biggie.

Well first off it's 24 seasons old and the tranny is about shot. The B & S motor is still strong, but the carb has a leaking fuel float which I dealt with by putting in an in- line cut off valve to prevent the oil sump from filling up with gas. Most all of the plastic hood is broken and / or is fractured causing it to run a bit hot because of disrupted cooling air flow. It is pretty much held together with bungee cords and the drive belt and tires are about shot. Other than the above it is in great shape!

I would tend to agree, but the Lowe's 10% discount for mil. vets. might be an incentive I can't refuse. I'll have do some homework for sure.

I agree 100%

Well my old Toro is about done so rather than risk another season on it I've started to look around for a suitable replacement. I need something with at least a 32" cutting deck, but less than 48". So far I've read pretty good reviews of John Deere, Club Cadet, & Husqvarna mowers. I don't want to spend more than $1500 and would love to think I could spend less to get a lasting and quality mower. What I would ask of you is that if you have purchased a riding lawnmower in the last couple of years is: What did you buy, where, and how has it worked out for you? I am a bit concerned of buying from a big box retail store due to the possible nightmare of getting warranty issues dealt with in a reasonable time frame from someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks!

Sony - Surround sound mode-Your settings?
Chipster replied to Chipster's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Mikula; I would be interested in hearing your review of the same piece of music via a CD then via a USB source using the same settings. Then make adjustments to the settings where needed for each source and see which then sounds best. -

Thanks Mark, do keep us posted on changes if you make them. I changed out the single dash speaker and that change made a pretty nice improvement to the overall sound, but front door speaker replacement would help more I think. -
What kind of fire extinguisher should I have in case of engine fire?
Chipster replied to neoweb's topic in Mods & Tech
That's all that counts!
