What does "Kona Blue" and "Too Good to Be Blue" look like?
Chipster replied to cab2g's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I bet it's the hot color come Xmas time! -
ak put up here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/19022-2016-ford-edge-order-guide/
-
Black is such a demanding color. Looks great, but it sure takes a lot of effort to keep it that way.

It would appear that we are days away from the order bank opening, so this begs the question... What are you going to order? Please be specific as to model, trim level, drive line, options, exterior color, wheels, etc. etc. Edited with special request: If you happen to order your Edge with the roof rails and buy the optional Ford crossbar kit (P/N 7T4Z7855100-BA please send me a site message I have a few questions about this option combination. I want to carry a canoe on it but am not sure this combination will give a canoe the needed clearance of the shark fin antenna.

ak; A few questions; What do they do with those J1 vehicles after the inspections? Are these the same "early builds" that you have referred to in your last sentence about "early builds"? What is the run rate during the J1 phase, and how does this compare with normalized production run rates after the any bugs are sorted out? Thanks

I hear you Jack! It's hard to be an old analog dog in the presence of digital whipper snappers. Just kidding of course. I am still trying to figure out how to convert my CD's to MP3 files so I can load them on a thumb drive, but that's a topic for another thread and day. I only hope Ford doesn't kill the CD player in the 2016's!

Help me out on this: There was once a concern about having to replace all of the tires on an AWD vehicle if one of them were damaged past the point of a repair and there would be (not sure of the actual number) say more than 3/16" in dia. between the new tire and the old ones. I seem to remember reading that even slight differences in tire diameter causes the car's computer and drive-train to do things that would harm the drive line. Is this still true today? If this is true, that would be a big financial hit if it were to happen.

Please add pictures of your Edge to your reviews if you have not. Thanks!

2015 Ford Edge (built after April) leak
Chipster replied to toblis95's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
I sure hate seeing this! If you are sure that there was not a window closure issue as the cause, run it by your dealer to have it checked out and keep us posted. Good luck! -
I bet that it (like in other Ford vehicles) is a Throttle Body and re-flash issue. My wife's 2010 Fusion had a TSB issued for the throttle body replacement and re-flash. Before the TB was replaced the vehicle showed the exact same symptoms of stalling in traffic and scaring the heck out of the driver. After the fix the problem went away. Jack; I am not quite as old as you, but my uses for the Edge will include hauling my canoe to the local river, light around the house hauling and other such duties. I do fully expect, and hope that this will be my last truck like purchase. I got 20 good years out of my Blazer 4 X 4 and hope to get the same service life out of the Edge. This is why I am leaning towards the 3.5.
-
As it stands right now I am favoring the 3.5. I'll do a couple more test drives to see if that changes my mind. I've got a little roadster to kick out the jams in so I don't need the performance that the turbo 6 offers.

I am still trying to figure out which engine I should order for my 2016 and I found this video helpful. Maybe you will too... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U4OLdMdDYU

I just stumbled onto this offer on HSN. Is this X- Plan +? I am not familiar with HSN, so I don't have any idea if there are any strings attached or not. Is there a membership fee to join HSN? The offer looks pretty good on the face of it. http://community.hsn.com/t5/HSN-Blogs/Go-Further-With-a-Q-amp-A-From-Ford/ba-p/930419

What went into your decision about the drive line you selected for your Edge? Which one did you select?
-
No one has anything to say abut their new Edge?
-
I for one would be interested in hearing about your thoughts and observations of your new Edge. We only have a few owner reviews so I thought this would be a good single thread for owners to post their thoughts, both positive and the not so much so. Please let us know as much as you can about your new ride, miles driven, trim level, engine, cabin noise, driveability, etc. etc...

Thanks ak!

How does the X plan discount compare to third party purchase plans like Costco? Also, is the X plan purchase available for ordered vehicles or does it need to come from dealer stock?
-
Thanks all! Good info. to know. Has anyone used this plan to buy more than one vehicle? I would assume that a separate PIN would be required? If so, is there a waiting period to get a second PIN if it is required or available?
-
"This is the big one!"
-
I was going to post a thread with a few questions about using the "X plan" and found this pre-existing thread. My questions are these: Is this plan still available for Ford stock holders? Is that stock ownership "hold" period still 6 months min. to receive a PIN? I have read conflicting information about how long that the PIN is good for. Is it good for 6 mo. or 12 mo.? Is there now a e-mail address to use to send scanned supporting docs. rather than using fax or snail mail? Have any of you used X plan lately to purchase a new Ford, if so how did that transaction go?

"Redesigned Ford Edge earns TOP SAFETY PICK award ARLINGTON, Va. — The redesigned 2015 Ford Edge qualifies for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's TOP SAFETY PICK award, thanks to good ratings for crash protection in 4 of 5 IIHS evaluations and an acceptable rating in the challenging small overlap front crash test. The midsize SUV has an optional basic-rated front crash prevention system. This is the first time the Institute has evaluated the Edge in the small overlap front test. Like the previous generation of the Edge, the 2015 model earns good ratings for occupant protection in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint evaluations. Ford reinforced the door-hinge pillar on models built after May 2015 to improve occupant protection in small overlap front crashes. The driver space held up reasonably well in the small overlap test, with maximum intrusion of 5 inches in the driver's seating space measured at the upper hinge pillar. The dummy's movement was reasonably controlled. The head was largely protected by the frontal and side curtain airbags, but the safety belt allowed the head and torso to move too far forward toward the intruding A-pillar. Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. To qualify for a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK, vehicles must earn good ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, plus a good or acceptable rating in the small overlap test. For TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles also need an available front crash system with an advanced or superior rating. The Edge doesn't qualify for the "plus" award because it doesn't have a front crash prevention system equipped with automatic braking. The Institute plans to raise the bar to earn a 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK, requiring a good small overlap rating. Vehicles with an acceptable rating such as the Edge will need further improvements to qualify for the 2016 honor." http://www.autoblog.com/2015/09/23/2015-ford-edge-top-safety-pick-iihs/

Good to hear that your ordeal is about over Edgy!
