  1. Yea. People shouldn't vent about paying $30k+ for a brand new vehicle and being delivered a car that leaks water in to the interior. Expectations for quality sure have tanked.
  2. And I'm sure there are other car companies that don't let such leaks pass through QC on to delivery.
  3. I understand what the reality is.....and my point is I don't like it. I don't think it is good business.
  4. Good news Wandap. I too would not give Ford another dime unless they provided a very nice incentive to jump in to something new. Thoughts on what your replacement will be?
  5. It is very easy for someone to say "No big deal...your car is fixed and Ford said there is no sign of issues in the future" when their car is dry. Mine, luckily, was dry and 'fixed' before any flooding. I got lucky. But I can still see your point of view and agree that the car was defective from the moment it rolled off the line. Some people just have to be in the driver's seat (pun intended) to finally grasp that what Ford did to those that didn't get a replacement was not right. Because I can assure you, any person here who paid for a brand new car and ended up with something that had water flowing in to the interior, does not feel they have a "perfectly good car". Mine is a lease. And if Ford would have done me like they did so many with no buy back, ,it would be my last Ford for sure.
  6. I'm sure your view would be a lot different if that MKX was a swimming pool the day after you picked it up and Ford said: "Ooopss....LOL...Sorry. We'll just fix up that for ya. Oh no worries....that pool shouldn't cause any issues in the future." It is a complete defeatist attitude hence why some got what they deserved with a buyback and others just take what Ford told them. I would have had a lawyer contacting Ford if they told me "tough sh*t we can sell you a defective car all we want".
  7. It should never be acceptable in any day's business environment to deliver a defective vehicle that cost over $30k and expect the customer to accept repairs that fixed an issue that led to water damage of the interior. That is unacceptable. A bad tire....fine. A bad battery....fine. A bad radio....fine. But a car not properly built to withstand some rain which leads to water damage 4 days after delivery should never be acceptable. I don't care how much it cost Ford to build. They built it incorrectly which led to damage to the vehicle. Quality failed this badly and should be the ones on the hook for it. Not the customer. And you are a great example of why Ford has to be pushed to do the right thing. Too many people willing to give them the benefit of he doubt instead of standing up for what is right.
  8. "Perfect good vehicle"? - It was leaking water to the point of pooling on the floor. That is not "PERFECT" by any means. That car was built defective. Again, there is no telling right now if there is any rust, mildew, or electrical problems. They could be there but have yet to make themselves know yet. I don't expect Ford to buy back EVERY vehicle that has issues. But I think this issue makes the vehicle defective. Especially if it did flood at one point. If they catch it prior to getting wet and fix it....so be it. Having a vehicle come off the assembly line that leaks water from day 1 is not acceptable and should be returned / exchanged at no cost to the customer. That is what we call the cost of poor quality. You eat that cost, and watch how things turn around in the future. We just sit back and say "Oh no biggie", these issues will continue because the expectation is the customer will just live with it.
  9. Be honest. Would you want to keep a BRAND NEW vehicle that had a puddle on the floor within 4 days of owning it? Nobody knows what the long term effects of this type of water damage could lead to. I know for sure I would not be satisfied and like they said, would not buy another Ford if handled in that way. Ford should have said we'll take it back and replace it with another. No questions asked. That is a HUGE quality snafu and I'm sure if you got lawyers involved, Ford would do the right thing.
  10. Are you sure you and Sirius are using the correct Radio ID?
  11. LOL no. Not having to mess with a key is nice. The problem is their alert system for when you leave the car running with the key in your pocket is annoying. Do like Lexus does...two quick beeps. Not horn honks. Just two beeps. The way Ford has this makes everyone around think you are honking at them because of how loud. Just "Chirp Chirp" would be sufficient.
  12. It still honks with the door open and you leave the car. Happens to me often when I get out to grab something from my garage and leave my door open.
  13. Try vingear first. Do it out of the sun and when the windshield is cool.
  14. The Chinese version of the 15+ Edge has what you are looking for. Somebody a while ago supposedly bought the parts to do this but never updated. I too would be interested in buying the parts for the China version and try to make it work in our US models.
  15. Simple Green on inside of wheels? I need to do this on my Mustang. I used to clean the inside during my regular washes but have become lazy.
  16. Whatever gets you on the water is all that matters in the end. FYI...I'm heading up to the Adirondacks with some friends in September to do a 5 day paddle with our canoes. It'll be a first for me. Really looking forward to it.
  17. And if getting a fully syththetic oil change at a dealer is not cheap at all. They really give it to you. If you are serious about synthetic, I'd suggest going to WalMart to get your synthetic oil (Mobil 1 is $26 for a 5 quart jug). Also grab a filter. Then either do it yourself or take that oil/filter to a shop that will change it using your parts and you just pay labor. The markup the dealerships put on synthetic oil is just nuts.
  18. Anytime I've had a dealer put in Synthetic Blend the invoice has always shown a Motorcraft part # for their synthetic blend.
  19. Discontinued does not mean everyone's stock across the world immediately dissapears. I would also want to know WHY the new system that replaces the Q-Towers will not work with the Vista roof. Height issues? A few weeks ago I posted the picture of the Q-Tower setup directly from E-Trailer's website of the Q-Towers on the '15 Edge with the panoramic roof: https://www.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/y/0/y00409_2015~Ford~Edge_4_1000.jpg If I remember correctly, that is the same exact setup I have on my '15 Edge (I don't have the pano roof). So here are the parts you would need: Q Towers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012SFK8G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Q-131 Clip (REAR): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012SHJ0S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Q-64 Clip (FRONT): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012SHJU8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 58" Round Bars: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012SFNEW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 End Caps (You may not need these if the bars come with them. My bars already had them in the box): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RL408U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here are the measurements for install (which they'll ask you to reference in the Q-Tower Install instructions): M1: 43 5/8 " M2: 13 " M3: 44 1/2 " M4: 32 "
  20. Does the brochure include a coupon? If so, I'd see if your dealer can get you the cash.
  21. I agree on that too. I listen to a lot of different music, and when I used sirrius I hated the fact I would have to use seek button often to check every station I was interested in.
