Hello all. I have been searching most of the day for a solution to my problem and haven't been able to find one so here I am.
We have been experiencing increasing noise from the rear of our 2007 Edge SEL FWD (120K+ miles). I've investigated for quite some time and with the help of a few previous forum posts concluded that the rear bearings have begun to fail.
I started on the passenger side as that is where I suspect most of the noise is coming from. I have the wheel off; brake caliper, pad, rotor, and slide removed. I removed the 4 T-60 torx screws from the back of the hub and used a slide hammer to remove the hub from the knuckle. What I wasn't expecting was that the entire hub, dust shield, and parking brake came with it when it finally released. There has been pretty significant corrosion to the back side of the bearing assembly and it is locked into the hub plate (at least that's what I'm calling it). For the life of me, I have not been able to free the bearing from the hub plate/parking brake assembly.
Any suggestions on how to get these seperated? Unfortunately, I can't really see a good way to press these out.
