2007 Edge SEL both tail lights have holes melted in the top of interior taillight plastic casing(?) where the bulb socket sits. Hardened drips are visible. I've read posts on other boards about this problem, the taillight bulbs get too hot for the plastic casing. It's alarming to see melted plastic. I've had the car for 11 months and replaced both tail lights. Left one was done at the dealer & I replaced the right one yesterday. This is when I noticed the melted plastic.I guess the mechanic didn't notice it in the right one.. I know it's been there a while because I thought it was part of the design when I bought the car. I have no idea if the previous owner replaced the bulbs often. It's easy to do so it may not be on the service record. Luckily she had the car serviced at the dealer where I bought it so they can check. I don't drive with 2 feet or rest my foot on the brake pedal or brake often. It's too costly to do so. I'm assuming my extended warranty will take care of the cost of repair/replacement. Hopefully 100% as this is obviously a design flaw. Thanks in advance for any input!
