  1. There's a fella selling a new set of DVD headrests for a 2008 Lincoln MKX on Ebay, for $250. However it's burned for Region 2, (Europe, Middle East, Japan, South Africa). Color is stone with black piping (but the company is stating that they have other colors available but all are Region 2). Any of you MKXer's in Region 2 need a set of new DVD headrests, here's your chance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lincoln-MKX-2008-Invision-headrest-DVD-LCD-video-rear-seat-entertainment-system-/271876152215?hash=item3f4d14db97&vxp=mtr#ht_2434wt_908
  2. I looked again and that might be a rocker trim piece. Did see a rocker for $120 however.
  3. Several on ebay for $64 + $30 shipping. Seller ships worldwide. Search criteria I used was "rocker panel edge".
  4. Video on their website. Https://coastaletech.Com select EDGE on left panel, click on video or d/l the installation instructions in PDF.
  5. I've been reading about this and for the life of me, don't see where the problem lies. Why does a car needing a new fuel tank have to sit for months? They are installing new tanks on Edge's, so tanks are definitely available. So what IS the real problem?
  6. Just checked the box, it's China. But the charcoal comes from coconut shell, not coal.Seems to be a decent enough filter, haven't noticed any loss of airflow.
  7. Wouldn't want to start a war over this, but I read in the Ford magazine a few years ago (when it was still being published) that using premium gas would lower your mileage. Had to with the engine designed to burn 89 octane and knock slightly. The engine's knock sensor would detect the knock and signal the computer to advance or retard the timing. (As well as some other things I didn't understand). With premium, the knock is reduced and the sensor and computer makes the mixture richer to compensate (without a proper knock signal, it falls back to a preprogrammed mode). sent from my Galaxy S5
  8. This was the first time I have used an ATP carbon filter (been using Motorcraft filters up to now). I did notice that the filter didn't fit perfectly the first time I put it in, took it back out and turned it 90*, and it seemed to fit perfectly. (That is, it went into the housing all the way.) Haven't made up my mind yet if it blocks the airflow. My 8 month-old filter was packed full and I still had sufficient airflow. BTW I used an ATP FA-14 filter.
  9. After reading your post, decided to check mine. Last changed it last October. Figured it would have a little bit of dirt, bugs, etc. Dan thing was full, not just dirty, but a full 1" to 2" deep! Looked like I had sucked in some type of foam product, it shredded and evenly covered the filter. Had a time getting it all out without spilling over into the fan. Threw the old one away and installed a new ATP filter. I'm going to have to watch this to make certain that I got it all. Tnx for posting this.
  10. You could look at the Explorer. It uses captain chairs in its second row with a consul between. Doubt the mounting locations would line up. By using Ford seats you may be able to match the seat color and materials.
  11. Unfortunately it's not above some shops to deliberately sabotage the car so you return to have it fixed. Had this happen to me at a local Chevrolet dealer. After spending several hundred dollars to get the fuel system flushed (bad load of gas), car quit while driving home. Called Kirk Chevrolet and finally got the service manager. Told hI'm if he didn't tell me what they did, I was going to come back and kick his butt (I'm an ex Marine ). He fessed up they cut the alternator wire 90% through and hid the cut under a wire clamp. Fixed the cut, jumped the car and drove home. Their out of business now, but I'll bet the practice is not so isolated. Could be just a coincidence, only way to know for sure is to pull the codes.

  13. Bought a half dozen Izod shirts for about $15 ea. (Retail between $45-50 ea.) Linda bought several jeans with sparkles on the butt for $7 ea. Bought a bunch of splat balls for the neighbor kids. Great day.Dennis
  14. You actually have two options for installing a child seat in the center position. 1. (From the 2014 Owners manual) The lower anchors at the center of the second row rear seat are spaced 18 inches (46 centimeters) apart. A child seat with rigid LATCH attachments cannot be installed at the center seating position. LATCH compatible child seats (with attachments on belt webbing) can only be used at this seating position provided that the child seat manufacturers instructions permit use with the anchor spacing stated. Do not attach a child seat to any lower anchor if an adjacent child seat is attached to that anchor. The car seat manufacturers in the list below allow their car seats to be installed using non-standard lower anchor spacing if (and only if): (a) the vehicle manufacturer allows the use of LATCH in a middle seating position with non-standard anchor spacing AND (b ) you can achieve a tight car seat installation Manufacturer's that certify for 18" spacing are: Britax, Combi, Fisher Price Safe Voyage, Merritt Manufacturing, Orbit, Recaro, SafeGuard/IMMI, SnugSeat, Sunshine Kids, Team Tex America, Triple Play Products (all allow 11"-20" spacing). This list is 5 years old, there may be more. 2. The second option is to simply use the seat belts. The are just as strong as a LATCH system (required to be so) but a little more difficult to install and get right. Remember to use the top tether as well as the belts. (From the NHTSA FAQ's) Q. Ive always heard it is safest to install child safety seats in the center rear seating position. My car doesnt have LATCH in the center seat. Can I use the lower anchors from the two seats closest to the window? A. The rear seat is generally the safest place for children of any age to ride. For proper installation of a child safety seat, it is imperative that the seat can be securely and snugly attached. Some vehicle manufacturers allow the inboard lower anchors from the seating positions nearest to the doors to be used to create a center rear LATCH seating position, but require that consumers check with the child safety seat manufacturer before doing so. Because the spacing between the inboard lower anchors in the outboard seating positions can be too great in some vehicles to ensure that your childs safety seat will be stable on the vehicle seat when installed in the center seating position using LATCH, you must review your vehicle owners manual and your child safety seat instructions carefully to determine whether a rear center LATCH position can be created. If you would like to place your child in a rear center position and no lower anchors are specifically designated for that position, or either the child safety seat or vehicle manufacturer does not permit the creation of a center rear LATCH position, you can install the child safety seat using the vehicle seat belt. If the child safety seat is installed forward-facing, it should be installed with the top tether, if available, as well. Installations should always follow both the vehicle owners manual and the child safety seat manufacturers instructions to ensure that the child safety seat is snugly and securely attached to the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a top tether anchor, contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealership to see if it can be retrofitted. Q. Which is the best way to install my childs safety seat using the vehicle seat belts or the LATCH system? A. Both provide equal protection as child safety seats must meet Federal safety standards with either installation method. The most important thing is to be sure that the child safety seat is correctly installed in your vehicle. Be sure to read both the child safety seat instructions and the section in the vehicle owners manual on installing child safety seats. For my grandson, we used the rear seat behind the passenger seat. I thought about using the rear center, but it would have been harder to belt Wyatt in (when their smaller, you have to manually lift them into the seat and have enough room to get in next to them and secure the seat. The center position would have made that a much more challenging task. One other concern, make certain that using the center location doesn't interfere with the adjacent seat belts. If by three people by three people you mean three car seats, you can use two in the outboard positions using LATCH, and use the seat belts for the center position.
  15. Here's a pix of the underside of the cover. Is that opening what you're talking about? That's the tissue dispenser? You've got to be kidding. Hold on, I'm going to go out to the car and stuff a wad of tissue into that hole and see for myself. <background music plays while on hold> Well I'll be, who would have thought. It was a real bear, bluddy knuckles and all, but I got the tissues mashed into the hole. Think I'll try taking them out of the box next time, might be easier to get all of them in there.
  16. This may not be related, but I've noticed that my hazards will turn on automatically if I take too long entering a destination. Seems they are connected to the nav unit.
  17. Condition The power liftgate stops during power open operation Possible Sources 1. The vehicle was started or taken out of PARK during a power open operation 2. Mechanical binding Action 1. INITIALIZE the power liftgate. REFER to Power Liftgate Initialization in this section. If condition still exists, manually CLOSE the liftgate to the primary latch position and OPEN the liftgate, using the exterior handle or liftgate control switch with the vehicle in PARK and the ignition in the ON position. 2. If mechanical binding does exist, REFER to Liftgate in this section. Power Liftgate Initialization NOTE: The power liftgate may not operate correctly under the following conditions: * A low voltage or dead battery * A disconnected battery * Repairs/adjustments have been made to the power liftgate rod, power liftgate motor, liftgate hinges or liftgate striker If any of these conditions has occurred, the power liftgate must be reinitialized. 1. NOTE: Battery power must be removed from the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) for 20 seconds before the LTM will enter the initialization mode. *** Disconnect the battery or remove the LTM fuse(s). 2. Wait 20 seconds and reconnect the battery or reinstall the LTM fuse(s). 3. If liftgate is not already in the fully closed position, manually close and fully latch the power liftgate. 4. NOTE: Make sure the power liftgate system is turned ON in the message center before performing this step. NOTE: If the power liftgate does not open during this step, refer to the Symptom Chart to diagnose the inoperative power liftgate. Power open the power liftgate by using the key fob or control switch. 5. Once the power liftgate is fully open, close the power liftgate by using the key fob or control switch. *** I looked up the wiring on this module, you need to disconnect fuse F59 in the Battery Jubnction Box (engine compartment), fuses F14 and F17 in the Smart Junction Box (near drivers floor).

Refer to the urethane adhesive path illustration and cut as follows: 1. NOTICE: Use caution when cutting to prevent damage to the windshield glass seal. From the outside of the vehicle, start at the center and work towards the front corners and around the locator pin. 2. From the outside of the vehicle, continue working along the side and towards the rear corners. 3. From the inside of the vehicle, work from the center towards the rear corners and around the rear locator pin. 10. With the aid of an assistant, remove the roof opening panel module assembly. Installation NOTE: For additional urethane adhesive guidelines, refer to the manufacturer's installation information. 1. NOTE: Avoid scratching the painted surfaces. For minor scratches or exposed metal, see the manufacturer's recommendations. Using an appropriate tool, trim the urethane adhesive leaving no more than 1 mm (0.03 in) base of original equipment urethane adhesive along the roof opening module body mounting surface. 2. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the vehicle body roof opening panel module flanges. 3. Make sure the locator pin holes are cleared of any foreign material which would affect installation of the new roof opening panel module. 4. NOTICE: Be sure to use the same brand of cure-rate products for the adhesive and primer. Do not mix different brands of urethane and primer. Incompatible products can result in seal failure. Refer to the Material chart in this procedure. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to the specification. 5. NOTE: Use either the Air Caulking Gun or a high-ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead. Apply urethane adhesive on top of the existing trimmed urethane adhesive bead, making sure there are no gaps in the bead. 6. Install the roof opening panel module assembly. 1. NOTE: Make sure the roof opening panel module assembly does not come into contact with the urethane adhesive bead. With the aid of assistants, hold the roof opening panel module assembly approximately 50.8 mm (2 in) over the body structure. 2. Line up the locator pin to the front hole and rear guide pin to the rear hole. 3. NOTICE: Make sure the windshield moulding does not get pinched under the roof opening panel module assembly. NOTE: Make sure the roof opening panel module is lowered straight down and does not shift. Carefully lower the roof opening panel module assembly into position on the body. 7. NOTICE: When installing urethane adhesive-installed parts, the vehicle must not be driven until the urethane adhesive has cured. Adequate cure time is specified on the drive away chart for each urethane adhesive product as the temperatures and humidity vary. Inadequate or incorrect curing can adversely affect the retention of the roof opening panel module assembly. Firmly apply downward pressure to the entire sealing edges of the roof opening panel module assembly to make sure it is seated correctly. 8. Install the air deflector assembly. For additional information, refer to Air Deflector in this section. 9. Attach the bottom of the concertina blind to the guide track in the most forward position. 10. 19. Ah, that means I'm probably the only one who doesn't have one. Is it something that is molded in or is it separate and click on?
  20. OK silly question. Manual mentions a tissue holder option on the underside of the consul cover. There isn't one on mine and I was wondering if anyone else does have one? Looked online and couldn't find a part number for one.
  21. 09 MKX. Had a long weekend, Friday we took a day trip to Saugatuck, a small community on the lake Michigan shore. Got plastered on Golden Margarita's and had to walk it off before I could drive home. Had a great time. Saturday we drove over to an outlet mall at Michigan City, In. Spent the day shopping (mostly window shopping). Sunday afternoon is for mowing and barbecue. Son in law, daughter and grandson came over for Father's day.
  22. Good to hear you were able to find it. Wonder if you were to go back and set it now for every 5k miles, if it would work properly? (IE turning it off and on would reset it).
  23. 09's didn't have bliss as an option. Be nice, but always wondered if it would interfere with my radar detector? (Bliss operates on one of the radar frequencies).
  24. Have a 09 MKX. Decided to change out the drivers rear view mirror to one with a blind spot integrated mirror built-in. Easy switch out, takes about two minutes to pop off the original mirror glass, and about three to plug in the wiring and press the new one in place. After changing over we took a day trip of couple hundred miles. New mirror makes all the difference in the world. Very easy to see car's in the blind spot. Thinking about replacing the passengers mirror next. Bought off Ebay.
  25. Did you check fuse #16 in the power distribution center under the hood? That's the fuse that controls the power point to the consul. (It's a type M fuse.) You can check if you have the latest software at https://owner.Ford.com
