Short answer is yes, but you will still need to have it programed at the dealer. There are several Ford dealers on Ebay that will sell you a key/FOB combo for MUCH less than your local dealer. I bought two additional key/FOB combos and keep them just in case.

Just noticed yesterday that the new mirror has auto dim on it. Car behind me had brights on (oh, how I love guys like that), & the mirror dimmed automatically (same as the interior mirror). Kind of a light green tint I'm guessing. Original 09 mirror didn't have this.

Which fuse for switchable power? 2013 Ford edge
enigma-2 replied to Jesse Pokora's topic in Accessories & Modifications
If you're trying to find the fuse for the power outlet, they are located in the power distribution panel under the hood in the engine compartment. The power outlets are hot at all times. If you're looking to wire your camera so that it power's on with the ignition, you could wire it as I did with my radar detector. I wired a special harness into the back of the rearview mirror (which does switch with the ignition). Bought the harness from Amazon. Do a search for mirror wire power cord (or simular). You will need to select one with the correct power connector. The power cord piggybacks into the mirrors power connector. On the mirror, pin #1 is (+), pin #10 is (-). (Mirror connector is numbered.) -
Based on step #6, looks like just cycling the lock is all required to clear the corrosion. Makes me wonder if just locking and unlocking the door several times would be sufficient to clean the contacts?

Kinda sounds like it doesn't recognize that it's in park. (Same condition as if you were attempting to start the car while in gear). Would it be possible that the thingie (Ford garage's term for parts they don't know the purpose of) that senses when the car is in park, might be failing in severe heat? As an experiment, try wiggling the shifter next time.

Replacing headlights

For use in the states, you will need to make certain that they are compliant with DOT requirements (labeled with the acronym DOT), and meet SAE standards. Not all parts manufactured in China meet US standards. BTW, I'm on a cell and when I go to the eBay site and click on the description, McAfee pops up and warns that the website that the description loads from is known to contain viruses. They have blacklisted the site. Just a heads up. Did you notice that the light assy was listed for off-road use. That means that it's not DOT compliant. -
Ford Cargo Mat vs. WeatherTech or Other Cargo Mats
enigma-2 replied to wtxd's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I decided on the Weathertech mats for my MKX because they are heavier weight and wrap up the sides of the floor cavity better (better at trapping slosh and dirt from exiting the mat and soiling around the edges). I would rate the Ford mats at a 7 - 71/2 & the Weathertech mats at a 9. However I'm currently using a MKX cargo mat as I only needed protection from an occasional spill (plants for the patio in the spring, that sort of thing). Never carry anything in the cargo bay where I would need wrap-up protection. But the Weathertech cargo mat is definitely better. -
Do you have a category set?

2011 Edge Limited 302A
enigma-2 replied to Tacyon's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I'm a complete idiot when it comes to remote start, but I remember reading that this is a normal condition if the engine throws a code on certain cars. (Shuts down to protect the engine). Check if you have any new (engine) codes set. -
Hey CinnamonEdge, any guidelines on where to lubricate? Got some lube and wondering where you put the grease.

There's a fella selling a new set of DVD headrests for a 2008 Lincoln MKX on Ebay, for $250. However it's burned for Region 2, (Europe, Middle East, Japan, South Africa). Color is stone with black piping (but the company is stating that they have other colors available but all are Region 2). Any of you MKXer's in Region 2 need a set of new DVD headrests, here's your chance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lincoln-MKX-2008-Invision-headrest-DVD-LCD-video-rear-seat-entertainment-system-/271876152215?hash=item3f4d14db97&vxp=mtr#ht_2434wt_908

I looked again and that might be a rocker trim piece. Did see a rocker for $120 however.

Several on ebay for $64 + $30 shipping. Seller ships worldwide. Search criteria I used was "rocker panel edge".

I've been reading about this and for the life of me, don't see where the problem lies. Why does a car needing a new fuel tank have to sit for months? They are installing new tanks on Edge's, so tanks are definitely available. So what IS the real problem?

Just checked the box, it's China. But the charcoal comes from coconut shell, not coal.Seems to be a decent enough filter, haven't noticed any loss of airflow.

Wouldn't want to start a war over this, but I read in the Ford magazine a few years ago (when it was still being published) that using premium gas would lower your mileage. Had to with the engine designed to burn 89 octane and knock slightly. The engine's knock sensor would detect the knock and signal the computer to advance or retard the timing. (As well as some other things I didn't understand). With premium, the knock is reduced and the sensor and computer makes the mixture richer to compensate (without a proper knock signal, it falls back to a preprogrammed mode). sent from my Galaxy S5

This was the first time I have used an ATP carbon filter (been using Motorcraft filters up to now). I did notice that the filter didn't fit perfectly the first time I put it in, took it back out and turned it 90*, and it seemed to fit perfectly. (That is, it went into the housing all the way.) Haven't made up my mind yet if it blocks the airflow. My 8 month-old filter was packed full and I still had sufficient airflow. BTW I used an ATP FA-14 filter.

After reading your post, decided to check mine. Last changed it last October. Figured it would have a little bit of dirt, bugs, etc. Dan thing was full, not just dirty, but a full 1" to 2" deep! Looked like I had sucked in some type of foam product, it shredded and evenly covered the filter. Had a time getting it all out without spilling over into the fan. Threw the old one away and installed a new ATP filter. I'm going to have to watch this to make certain that I got it all. Tnx for posting this.

You could look at the Explorer. It uses captain chairs in its second row with a consul between. Doubt the mounting locations would line up. By using Ford seats you may be able to match the seat color and materials.

MKX 2008 - oil change - now th eengine light is on
enigma-2 replied to wenmcb's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Unfortunately it's not above some shops to deliberately sabotage the car so you return to have it fixed. Had this happen to me at a local Chevrolet dealer. After spending several hundred dollars to get the fuel system flushed (bad load of gas), car quit while driving home. Called Kirk Chevrolet and finally got the service manager. Told hI'm if he didn't tell me what they did, I was going to come back and kick his butt (I'm an ex Marine ). He fessed up they cut the alternator wire 90% through and hid the cut under a wire clamp. Fixed the cut, jumped the car and drove home. Their out of business now, but I'll bet the practice is not so isolated. Could be just a coincidence, only way to know for sure is to pull the codes.
